  1. Thanks again Steve, I had tried that already. What I had to do was sign out of AOL go toplain explorer and then from View set text size and that solved the problem. If your in AOL they use the explorer for browsere but I couldn't find the place to change the setting for text. Once I did it in plain explorer it changed it for my AOL. I'm ready to dump AOL anyway since my kids are older and I don't need the parent controls as much. Besides they know how to get around them anyway.. Thanks again for everyones help.
  2. I can barely read anyone's replys except steeler fans. His is nice and clear. All the rest are small and fuzzy/broke up. The home forum page the print is so small I just have to guess what forum it is. The RE at the top of each message is perfectly clear. All of the responses in the message part are garbled. I have all ready set my font size to large in the control panel. Are there other settings somewhere. This is the only website I'm having problems with. The pictures are perfectly clear.
  3. Thanks Steve. I have AOL and tried to change the font size. I have tried setting every font size and resolution on this thing. The Board are very small print and also very blurry, pixelated. The old boards are fine, every other web page I visit is fine, just the forum the different forums are so small I could hardly make out what the said. Also the RE; section on paticular messages are readable but the dialoge in the message is blurry and small. The only ones I can read are the ones with Large print. All pictures seem to com through looking good. Even my avatar is pixelated around edges. Does anyone have any ideas?
  4. I set it to large and that helped. I will trying changing the resolution on my monitor. Thanks
  5. Is there something wrong with my coumputer or is everyone having trouble reading these messages. Everything is very small and blurry.
  6. January 13th 2006. That is the day I'm offically and ARPS member.
  7. Looks like he is safe from the passenger side air bag!
  8. I've got 4 of them, make great HT speakers. Also loud rock sounds great. Haven't heard them with tubes or expensive receiver but my sony seems to do well. If you want to lose them put them on the board and they will be gone soon.
  9. I have forte II's front and surrounds with an academy center. I think they sound great. Don't know how well they would match to the chorus II but I think that they would keep up well as surrounds. Forte II's can be had fairly cheap ( I picked mine up from a member here for about 500, the price of one academy. ) My front forte II's are raised about 12 inches on the base of a built in book case, so I built stands for my back ones for the same height. I just used some 2x4s and made a frame stand that the forte's set in. Then I painted it gloss black to match the black forte's. It works well, the sound is excellent, the mids are at ear level. As for base I have an SVS pb12-2 ultra. The waf on that would be real low because of it's size. I'm no purist but to me musically it fits in pretty seamlessly. The pb-12 ultra or the tube ultra I think would work well.
  10. Chris Let me know about your academy when it comes on the market. I have my eye open for an oak for a center rear for a 6.1 set up. By the way your crossover is working great in my front academy. Your instructions were great. I screwed up and cracked the post on my tweeter. Then I took it to a local hack to see if he could solder it. Well he just screwed it up more so I just ordered a new tweeter. Can you just replace the little plate with voice coil and posts? Electronics like golf I have the hands of a black smith.
  11. Stop doing weird things to it with a fork!
  12. STL Just got back to the boards. When you set the speakers to large it doesn't send the lfe to the sub when it is for the rear speakers.
  13. Jim's Ribs Rock Island Ill. All the blues artist from Chicago eat there when they come to town. No alcohol sales. Get carry out of baby backs and get a cold twelve pack to wash them down.
  14. I have the ultra pb/2 ultra. It is amazing. Have it set real low.( Probably a whole lot more sub than I needed). Can't say much about the Thx since I have never heard one. The SVS was easy to buy and their service was great. Haven't had any problems other than learning how to set it up and get it balance with my system. That's the fun part messing with it.
  15. I'm no 2 channel purist just an ignorant ht user. I did notice about the setting that with large you get the whole spectrum and with small the cross over was at 100. I would really like to have the cross over lower like 80 or 60. I think my forte II's could definitly handle it down to there. Also if you set them at large you don't get any lfe channel with the rear channels. I was messing around with my Avia and notice that when you are setting the bass to rear speaker db.
  16. I have a DA555ES and I don't know what it means either. But of course my video on that system is a 1982 sony 25 inch console with only a coax conection. No remote. Bought it in 1982 with our wedding money. PS you Sony ES users. I bought my receiver used and got a pfd manuel. I have looked and tried every way but I can't find how to set my bass frequency below 100 hz. When I go to surround edit I can set the bass frequency of fronts, center or rears from 100 to any thing higher but not lower. Am I doing something wrong or is that the nature of the beast. Maybe it is time to go to Denon 3805 or something. Still only 5.1.
  17. Thanks Dr. Who. Also the funds could be used for a better monitor. I was just wondering and speculating. The answers and opions here help me make a more informed decision. Lots of ideas to consider. I guess that is the fun part of this hobbie.
  18. Thanks fastlane. Yes I still have an old two channel receiver that I could use the extra set of speakers on if I upgrade. I am also thinking about selling them also if I upgrade.
  19. Yes travis let me know what you think about the new cross overs. I'm in no hurry. I see some Corns on e-bay all the time and kind of waiting for some to show up close and in the right price range.
  20. Thanks nectar. I would really love to hear your corns some time. I wasn't planning on going to all corns just for the fronts. I was also just thinking about cornwall II's thinking that they would match my forte II's as rears. I'm in Rock Island. Need to take off and head out on the river now. Kids love to tube and wakeboard. talk to ya later.
  21. Thanks for your replies. I'm going to keep my eyes open and if some fall in my lap I'll take them. I think what michael said about the four matched for HT makes sense. Also my front sound stage is only 13 feet wide and the room is 20 feet deep and opens into another room. Big box=more bass Ultra PB12/2=big big box. The sub has tons of bass ( I have to run it 4 to 5 db below my speakers to balance.)and is musically very good. I have been thinking about the crossover upgrades though. Do you like yours and was there a big difference. My Forte II's are 89's so from what I read my caps my be aging? I have read some of the academy tale.
  22. Convince me that I should seriously consider Cornwall II's to replace my Forte II's for fronts. I just need a little prodding.
  23. Would Cornwall II's timbre match my forte II's. I seen on the site that the academy is the match for cornwall II's and also for the forte II's so does this mean that forte II's are a match also for the Cornwall II's. a=b, b=c so does a=c? Thanks

    My new sub

Thanks Formica and PSG. I will play with the crossover and think about moving it some. I'm kind of limited where it can go due to the lay out of the room. Mainly I can just go to the oppsite wall or a little closer to the seating or closer to where the Forte II's are setting.

    My new sub

I got my SVS 12/2 ultra hooked up. Awesome. Stuck it up front close to the corner. Didn't do any placement checks since it is 190 lbs, just put it there and hoped for the best. I think it is so powerful that I didn't have to worry about placement so much. It sounds great. Had to take down a couple of pictures since they rattled. The glass coffee table up stairs still rattles. Tried out "Finding Nemo" and LOTR 2. Both were impressive. Music sounds great. My son loves to put on Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon to hear/feel the heart beat. My wife said she did know I was getting a thunder storm in the basement. Need to hide the cable and get rest of the tweaking done with Avia. That is the fun work. Anyone have suggestions to try it out. My forte II's and academy are set at small and the cross over is at 100. The forte's and academy sound better also. ( I could just be dreamin that part though)
