  1. I did the tennis balls in my bedroom system........and the raquetballs in my main system. Aside from the tennis balls preventing skipping in the bedroom system (in which I'm thankful for)............I have not noticed any improvement sound quality wise from either system. A twenty bucks well spent though........preventing excessive skipping.
  2. Did you notice any audible changes in the music playback?
  3. Took the amps off of the cd player.........no more skipping. []
  4. ......put my amps and preamp on top of the cdp........now it skips as bad as it did before the tennis balls. [:^)]
  5. The 5's will definitely sound great. The 30's will kick your a**. [Y]
  6. http://www.enjoythemusic.com/tweaks/index.html I performed this tweak this morning with positive results.......for under $20.00. [Y] To give an idea of my bedroom system scenario: In relation to my cd player, my subwoofer (SVS PB-12 Plus/2) is literally two feet away, and this sucker really pounds. Each RF-7 is about seven feet away from the cd player......and respectively put out some serious bass as well. Now, up until this point if I was to turn up the volume to 10:00, one beat of the kick drum would skip the cd player. After building the above tweak, with ease I might add...........I put in some very bass heavy material.........and cranked it as loud as I could......and cranked it.......and cranked it.......and you get the picture. To my surprise, I couldn't get it to skip not even once. I figured this tweak would reduce the skipping but not to this degree. As far as sound quality improvements.......well, I can't comment on that yet. I don't really do any critical listening in this room so I'll wait until I try this on my main system. I just wanted to share the experience.......because to my pleasant surprise this inexpensive tweak evidently does reduce vibrations to the cd player that can distort harmonics. By the way, I used tennis balls instead of raquet balls.......and they are green. []
  7. I tried the vibration isolation tweak......with positive results. (I used tennis balls) I will start a new thread for those interested.
  8. Get a 100' or 200' roll of 14 gauge and you'll be set. 14 gauge for your longer runs and you will have peace of mind that you're not restricting anything. Home Depot sells 200' rolls for.....if I remember correctly.....$75.00.
  9. If you do.....let us know the results. Perhaps you can start a Blue Balls thread. []
  10. There are a lot of tweaks out there......some seem rediculous. The reduction of vibrations seems legit to me. I have not tried it yet.....but I intend to. I have found that the little things count just as much....if not more....than a major upgrade in gear. Don't know about laser harmonics other than vibrations may influence them in some way or another. Sorry couldn't be more help........but we did get to talk about blue balls. []
  11. Check these out....from the same company. http://www.gingkoaudio.com/minicloud.html

  13. Coytee, Job well done my friend. [Y] Hobie.........There's no looking back now. []
  14. That unit looks slick. Congrats Picky. []
  15. I just moved a pair of my RF-7's into my bedroom system......powered by 200 watt Marantz monoblocks. This has been yet another reminder that all the 200 watt amps I've tried with RF-7's..........none of them could do what my Crown amps can on RF-7's.
  16. I've been considering the tennis/raquetball tweak as described by Colin. http://www.enjoythemusic.com/tweaks/index.html

  18. I've got Jub fever, too. Can I put the K402 on my RF-7 'til I come up with the rest of the bread?[]
  19. This may be due to the fact that the RSW-15 blends so perfectly into the 7's. I think you're on the right track to invest in a second sub that plays deeper. In my case, I have RSW-15's to blend with my 7's......and an SVS PB-12 Ultra 2 that is ported and cranks out the deep bass. This is a match made in heaven. However, I have not heard the Conquest many people seem to dig.
  20. One good sub is better than two lesser subs.
  21. I'm having the same exact experience ith a $200 Cambridge and a $950 Jolida. I agree and would also add.........treating the the room is big.
  22. I'm checking out Pandora right now.......pretty cool. Sounds pretty good. I like the format.
  23. Well, I got the hookup and have been checking out some free sites. So far, Slacker sounds pretty good compared to the others. I compared it to Sirius in my bedroom system......I would have to say Slacker sounds better. I'm gonna try it downstairs on my main system next. Specifically, in what way would you say the USB DAC helps the sound? How much $$$?
