  1. Cambridge Azur 540a integrated.......Crown amps passively bi-amped........this budget integrated pre has an excellent sound....and for what I paid ($450) compared to other preamps I've owned, I am extremely pleased. []
  2. I use a Cambridge Audio preamp and set the bass and treble at 2 o'clock.....with RF-7's......and I'm very pleased with the bass. []
  3. Yeah, I use RB-75's in my bedroom system with a Klipsch LF-10 subwoofer. They work GREAT for two channel........the RF-7's little brother. [Y]
  4. You guys know your stuff. My head is spinning. I bought 500W Crown amps to drive my RF-7's with good results. Some are saying that is a waste......some are saying it is neccessary. I've come to the conclusion that while Klipsch speakers are easy to drive, take little power to make them go "loud" and that it is evident that even though those things are true........more power can make them sound better.....not neccessarily louder, but more dynamic etc......at least with RF-7's. Distortion? Maybe so......but my ears seem to really like it. []
  5. Very unfortunate.......I feel your disappointment. Hopefully this will have a somewhat happy ending. [:^)]
  6. I leave my LF-10 "ON" 24/7.........in fact, I leave all of my subs "ON" 24/7. []
  7. Even with efficient speakers that are 100+ ?
  8. That is very kind of you Coytee. I think what I'm looking towards is moving on from pro-amps (I have six XTI-2000's).......and looking for a quality ss or tube amp. I know the K-2 blows the XTI's away......but like I said....time to move on. [] The VRD's that I heard with RF-7's at a fellow forum members house sounded very nice. []
  9. Yes.......I'm referring to the discussion on the "General Questions" section that has become pretty amusing. Sorry if I mislead you. But seriously, when I had Forte ll's........I powered them with a Marantz 30 watt receiver and they matched up very well. Vintage receivers rule. [Y]
  10. You forgot the 24" subs........put one in each corner. he he he []
  11. Now that looks like a satisfied Klipsch owner!!
  12. I need my subs just as much as I need oxygen to stay alive. [] Your next move......a BIGGER sub......oh yeah, you're hooked now baby. [Y]
  13. ......I'm still trying to imagine what those Mac's and LaScala's sound like. Sweet. [Y]
  14. Very cool jc.......but don't you know that you don't need that much power? []
  15. Someone please comment on that......because that has been exactly what I've experienced with my 7's. Higher wattage amps with the gains/attenuators turned down to about 25%.
  16. Specifically......for RF-7's. What to consider, when speakers like the RF-7's have low impedance dips. Is it current, voltage, wattage, damping factor or what that I'm looking for in the amps specs that will drive the 7's effectively? [:S] Thanks, Scott.
  17. Thanks.......After the holidays works best for me also. [Y]
  18. Artto, I see that you're in the Chicago area. I'd love to hear your system someday........actually I'd love to hear your room. Looks like you did an awesome job. These pro-amps are just a learning experience for me. I've been listening to other guys systems and have yet to hear one that really impressed me. I'm not talking just spl......I'm talking about the whole two-channel listening experience. []
  19. I was in there last week checking out the LaScala's with the Cambridge powering them. I thought they sounded very relaxed and natural sounding. []
  20. .....ya learn sumthin new every day. [:$]
  21. In a couple of months when work slows down, I'll probably attend the MSO or something in Chicago. Too busy right now....but I'm really looking forward to the experience. []
  22. jbsl, My main two-channel system covers the whole first floor which is approx. 900 sq. ft. Two listening rooms that are adjacent to each other.......including a kitchen, dining room and foyer. How many watts are actually used? It's my understanding that maybe between 10 and 30 watts are used continuously........and that the rest of the wattage only plays a roll in certain parts of the music. Based on the research I've done on the RF-7 I went with the bigger power supply. Compared to the 100 wpc receivers......200 wpc amps I've used prior.......500 to the highs and 500 to the lows is absolutey what the 7's needed to make them shine (to my ears). Covering this much area........three pairs of RF-7's powered this way......along with some quality subbage works pretty well. []
