  1. The first time I heard a squeezebox music server was about a month ago side by side with an Eastern Electric tube cdp. Well, I own a Jolida tube cdp and when considering the options of what to buy, the Eastern Electric was well liked by it's owners and critics. I was very impressed with the sound quality of the squeezebox.........in fact, we all agreed that it sounded better than the Eastern Electric!! .........My two cents. []
  2. Interesting........maybe all my Crown amps hooked up to the ceiling fan would work?[]
  3. Hey CECAA--------Have you ever tried stacking those corner traps all the way to the ceiling with good/bad results?
  4. What was powering the Heritage speakers you heard?
  5. [li]ughhh.........I'm never gonna drink again.......never gonna drink again.........never gonna.....[li] [|-)]
  6. I'm shitfaced right now..........gonna go let my pro-amps and stack of subs rip my face off...........Klipsch always comes through whatever the occasion[Y I love my Klipsch man...........[]
  7. Good for you...........save some dough[] But for those of us who have been there........there's no turning back[]
  8. I don't know that anybody on this forum ever said that they are "better"...........rather a good alternative because of the price/performance. ........"Whimpy pro amps" ? I use the term "whimpy" to describe the XTi which is the exact term I picked up on another "pro audio forum, where the real pros were laughing like hell about the "whimpyness" of the XTi. I just followed their terminology. Again, just try to get 1400W out of that thing, and then report back! I did..........and the display said "Get a good tube amp with some balls!!"[]But seriously.......in my listening room with four RF-7's.......the opposite of "whimpy" comes to mind.[]

  10. Placing the panels behind the speakers as well as at the reflection points will help the highs. You most likely will have to do the reflection points for sure.........behind the speaker may or may not be required.
  11. I run RF-7's and use 2' x 4' acoustic panels from GIK acoustics. I use them to treat early reflection points and I also use them as bass traps straddeling the corners...............Worth every penny.[] Treating the room accordingly allows you to control what your hearing and how you want to hear it............rather than the room dictating how it wants to screw up your listening experience. I put the panels behind the 7's and it didn't work for the bass because they were too close, like 6 inches behind the speaker.........perhaps if they were farther back they'd be more effective. I've also read that a diffuser at the back wall is the way to go......... have a large window directly behind my seating position so I was never able to experiment........so I hung thick velvet drapes for some absorption. When you add an external amp with some serious power to your RF-7's you are gonna be really impressed at what the 7's can do. A quality sub will be a huge bonus to compliment the 7's and you'll be much more than "pretty happy"!!![Y][Y][Y]
  12. It's like Mark said earlier...........this all makes very good "discussion".[] I'm one of the fortunate ones who has pro, consumer and tubes in the house to play with. My pro-amps take care of my concert/home theatre. My tubes are used for casual two-channel listening in the bedroom. Miscellaneous ss equipment handles the basement workout room and outdoor speakers for summer parties. I'm having a blast!![]
  13. Klipsch speakers.........crap in = crap out.........they're not gonna lie.[Y]
  14. I also distributed my hard earned money in the following fashion:#1 Speakers............Klipsch, of course. #2 Preamp..............JM Peach, Marantz, Denon #3 Subs..................Klipsch and SVS #4 Power amps......Crown pro-amps........more than enough power, not quite as good as the glorified consumer amps but having the least effect on what you actually hear........they're darn close and to me the cost justifies that. #5 CD, DVD players.........Denon, Jolida
  15. I assumed he was using it on his sub, like most do with HT. Yes, with a sub for home theatre and music as well.By the way CECAA..........did you go with QSC instead of the XTI's? Probably a big improvement over the XLS's, huh?
  16. Yeah...I have a pair of 74' Heresy's that I picked up about two months after the Forte ll's........I plan on a cap change, etc. And Bucky.......I heard some Cornwalls about a month ago at a friends house........some of the best speakers I've ever heard!![Y][Y]
  17. wsu99999............I had a similar experience..........sold the Forte ll's a week later after extensive placement experimenting...........powered them with ss, pro-amps and yes, tubes. They just couldn't come close to the sound quality of the RF-7's sitting right next to them. I am biased, I've got gold woofers all over my house!! If you like the sound of your 35's and want more.........the 7's are calling your name.
  18. Yeah........that makes sense. I've been using one for a while now without measuring.....only by ear. Now, while all of you are shaking your heads, I have had some success with it.........not as much as if I had some measuring equipment.........but by only doing one to four filters at a time this thing is really cool for $100.00.............not the easiest piece of gear to operate, though.[:$]
  19. I have not listened to the XTI full range on Khorns. I first bi-amped the system using a Crown XLS402 on LF and an XtI1000 on MF & HF, liked what I heard, then got another XTI and tri-amped. I'm using Khorn bass and K-400 MF with a Peavey HF, crossed @400 & 1200 using an analog xover. I'm using the XTI's DSP for limiting and delay. The 24 dB/octave crossover slopes along with MF & HF delays seem to reduce comb filtering quite a bit compared to a stock AA network. This seems to widen the sweet spot considerably. Time alignment improves the reproduction of transients such as snare and tom drum hits. The effect is subtle, not OMG!! But I like it. Don Honk if you love Horns Thanks Don. When I use my XTI as an ordinary 2 channel amp.........I'm not the least bit interested in it. When bi-amping using the DSP features I enjoy the results very much.[]In fact.......isn't this how these amps are really intended to be used?
