If you can't hear the difference between different types and classes of amps, then consider yourself lucky. You are going to save a lot of money and have a much simpler time building a stereo system that makes you happy.

I'm not sure why my "keep experimenting and don't listen to the fan boys" post got deleted, but anyway, invest in some measuring equipment and DSP and you can make almost anything work. Stay curious!

I've used this headphone amp almost daily for 5-6 years on my desk at work. It has never had any issues. It uses 6J1 tubes and is a hybrid design. It has USB or RCA inputs. It comes with the original tubes and the installed Tung-sol matched pair. Power transformer is included. I'll rate it 7/10 due to age, but it has no cosmetic blemishes. $80 shipped to ConUS. See link for more info.

The Acoustical Cotton Batts you show should work just fine. I don't think the material you choose is as important as making sure that you do the same thing to both speakers.

Here is a "Williamson" Ultra-Linear amp I built about 25 years ago, but recently transferred the circuitry to new chassis'. The output transformers are Edcor 7.6k to 6 ohm. Power transformers are US military surplus. This particular design is super-stable, no motor-boating or other oscillation issues that some people have reported long ago.
I'm also using 1625's since they are less expensive than 807's or KT66's. Originally, these were wired for 807's, but I bought a good stash of 1625's that should last me the rest of my life.
Beautiful amps! I would love to see the "undercarriage" pics if you have any.

You got that right! Shortages of empty containers, personnel to unload at the ports and remove from ports is driving up pricing and availability on everything.
Check out this link on container traffic.....unreal

Thanks for the link! That is an incredible time suck. Very eye opening!

What a novel way to get rid of the body! Turn them into glue and sell them to unsuspecting households!
I'm going to go by my LaScalas and give a "Hey!" to Uncle Ernie.

and secondly, rare for today, allowing some difficult conversations without censorship.
Let me start by saying all are welcome to this forum, but IMO anyone with your approach to your quest are especially welcome here. I appreciate your candor and approach while providing actual testing and data. This may lead you to what you are looking for and it may lead you somewhere you never expected. That is my favorite part of a scientific approach. As for what I quoted above, I wish it were completely true. You should have been here 10-12 years ago, I think you would have been well embraced by some past members. Unfortunately todays "cancel culture" has crept into this forum too. I wish some people were still around for lively debate, even if their views were perceived as outlandish. I look forward to following along your jouney!

First Watt. Just about any First Watt amp will shine with your fully horn loaded speakers.

I miss some of the great old contributors that were in that thread Dean! Some of those posters don't log on anymore and some are no longer with us. I prefer that version of the forum to the current one!

Recently added to my Long List of Tube gear over the years, This one is VERY hard to come by and after getting to listen to it I know why they rarely come up for sale. If you see one on the used market DONT WAIT they are THAT GOOD
I took a look in the belly of the beast and was pleasantly surprised to find V-Caps..................Thats how you know no expense was spared in voicing the amp, by Mr. Vaughn
Joe,
How about a pic with the glass installed? It's a looker as is, but show us some bottles!

This is the kind of information we can all use! Straight from the expert, not some meta-posters taking a wild guess!

I love S-works turbos for comfort and speed, but they are not the most durable. Of course with Specialized there is an S-works tax, but usually this time of year they do a BOGO sale. You can't beat Gatorskins for durability but they are hard as a rock IMO. I would like to check out Pirelli tires, perhaps this summer. The Michelins you are looking at may be a good compromise. Let us know what you end up with and your opinion of them. Good Luck and stay safe out there!

I'm curious where you bought from. If you are in Roscoe, I live 15-20 minutes from you; I'm North of Belvidere

I wrote "not that much more difficult". IMO it's worth the extra effort, but I defer to you, you're the tapped horn expert. I've only built 1. I don't know why I bother offering my opinion anywhere on the internet anymore. This forum, like so many others are so frustrating to me lately. I hate the internet, I think I need a break!

If you don't already have the drivers, I would be considering tapped horn subwoofers. You are allocating a large space for them to occupy already. You will get a lot more bang for your buck with tapped horn, and the builds are not that much more difficult.

I've been subscribed to his You Tube channel for a while. He has some interesting perspective and rants. I enjoy listening to the opinion of many to help form my own.

Has that original crappy clunky interface gotten any better with Amazon HD yet? What I mainly didn't like about it was the inability of being able to control the desktop app from a phone or tablet like how Spotify does it. But what I loathed more than that was, if you saved an artist, you couldn't just go to that artist and see all of their disography; it's like you had to know up front what you wanted to go to. I really wanted to like it and keep it but stayed with Spotify....which also works well with all my Google Home devices. Not to mention that Android Auto didn't support it at the time. Maybe that's different now.
But if they could make those two things work, I'd consider.
Amazon HD music currently works with Android Auto, I use it all the time in the car. I've been using it for several years now, and once the HD version was available I upgraded right away. I search by artist all the time, and have never had a problem finding an entire discography. Usually there are multiple versions of popular albums with Ultra HD tracks playing up to 24 bit / 96kHz Flac files. I use the desktop app at work and feed USB out from my PC into my DAC and then to head phone amp. Phone app will not control desktop app like Spotify though.

I use Amazon HD also and I'm very happy with it. There is a fair amount of exclusive content. I like having several versions of my favorite albums available. Bonus content, demos, etc. The user interface isn't flashy, but I have yet to be disappointed with the available content.

Good choice on the B-2 network. IMO it is the best Klipsch designed network for the Cornwall 1. Good choice going with Crites as well; you won't be disappointed!
When did you last here a distinct difference between amps?

To stay on topic, I last heard a difference between amps a couple of weeks ago when I swapped in a First Watt J2 for a Dynaco ST-70 on my Lowther / Oris horn combo.
