  1. I had some unexpected trouble with my plow truck and need to come up with some cash. Hopefully someone can put them to better use than in a 10 x 10 room up on a shelf. I thought about offering them here but didn't want to violate any guidelines pertaining to other sites.
  2. I love Live at Massey Hall, Sugar Mountain Live at Canterbury House 1968 is a must have to.
  3. Was up at 4:30 AM playing with the cornwalls. I really would have liked to see the motorboard but decided not to try remove the grills. After reading that the grill cloth is stapled to the motorboard I am glad I didn't touch them. A big thanks to HBRBUILDER for sharing his experiance and wisdom. I did remove the original networks and installed the networks that came out of my 76 corns. Can't say as I hear a differance but my hearing is pretty much shot. Can't say as the BEC crossovers make my 76's sound any differant either but I have no high frequency hearing in one ear and signifacant loss in the other. I have them stored in a small 10 x 10 bedroom with the lascalas I have for outdoor use in nice weather. Both the lascalas and Cornwalls are hooked up to a Marantz 2325. Maybe a little over the top for a 10 x 10 room. I bought the new corns mainly because they are 72's and to have a pair of verticals. 1972 is the year I won the lottery. The draft lottery that is. In 72 they drafted up to number 180, I guess somethings you never forget, my draft lottery number was 49.
  4. 280 mile round trip last night. 12 degees below zero and snowing hard when I got home. Owner had mixed feelings about parting with them. Owner had built carpeted rolling pedistals where they sat since the day he brought them home. I think they are in pretty nice shape for 37 year old speakers. No chips or cracks in the plywood. The grill cloth looks like new. Not sure but I think they have the factory grill kit that was offered for decorators. I bought them thinking they are pretty rare. I might have some sort of exotic veener put on them. They are nice enough I will leave them as is for awhile. I have the original B crossovers from my 76 corns that I may put in them or have BEC rebuild these. Another forum member pointed this out to me. On one speaker the mid and tweeter are installed on one side of the cabinet and on the other speaker the other side of the cabinet.
  5. Member of Teamsters Local 118 hauling Beer in Rochester N.Y.. Watched the fireworks with soon to be wife. Celebated with a couple cases of Heinken Beer that fell off my truck.
  6. Can't speak to what is the best oil. I use watco. Those are the nicest Belles I have seen. If it wasn't the dead of winter I would have bid to win and made the 1600 mile road trip.
  7. I was fortunate enough to see both shows in Toronto. Both nights were great. I agree that Ben Keith looked pretty frail, especially his hands. Thursday night was pretty special in that Neil played "Light A Candle" for the first time. I was in the right place at the right time Friday (4PM)to see Neils bus return to the Aire Canada Center. My guess is that He took a day trip north. Friday nite He addressed the crowd saying that " When I think of Toronto all I can see is my Dad riding his snowmobile". I am going to try to post a pic of Neil's bus (Silver Eagle). Neil is sitting behind the driver at a computer console.
  8. Mike, I didn't seem like you were in a hurry. I didn't mention my foot because the wife wasn't happy about the shape I came home in. she was sitting next to me when we spoke and I didn't want to get her all upset again. she has vowed to not let me out of her sight without adult supervision. Years ago when I asked her to marry me she replyed, Why would I want to do that, I have a dog that stays out all night and a parrot that swears like a trooper.
  9. Neil closed with " A day in the Life" both nights. Shredded the strings, Slammed " Old Black" into a guitar stand and poked the strings into the pickups for feedback effect. The new song " light a Candle" was beautiful. Neil's well isn't close to running dry. At age 63 He is better than I have ever seen him. Friday nite He dropped a couple songs from the set list in favor of a 15 minute version of "Cowgirl In The Sand". The highlight for me both nights was " Cortez The Killer".
  10. I would like to share my latest concert experiance. My appologies to those that think it inappropriate. I drove from Warsaw N.Y. to see Neil Young at The Air Canada Centere in Toronto. I attended both nights, 12/4/08 and 12/5/08. I have seen Neil 30 times over the last 40 years. Both shows were off the chart. Thursday night He played a new song for the first time ( Light My Candle). I got to Toronto about noon on Thursday, would have been there sooner if not for grid lock traffic on the Gardiner Expy. 1.5 hours to go the last 9 miles. I wasn't first row center floor like usual. The floor space was general addmission with no seats, standing only. I wasn't going to stand in line for 6 hours in 14 degree temp and another 3 hours till Neil took the stage.I had to settle for first section lower bowl, great seats but nothing like the Front row PIT seats I had for CSN&Y in 2006. I checked out of my hotel Friday at 11am (12/5). I hung around outside hoping to get a photo of Neil in a limo. Much to my surprise I saw his custum bus (Silver Eagle) coming up Bay St. I have alot of pics of his bus but none with him in it. As it got closer I could see Him at his computer behind the driver.I got some great photos. In the excitment of getting a close up of Neil I ran in front of a car that knocked me down, broke my ankle, didn't drop my camera though, still got a great close up of Neil. In spite of the pain, and driving home in heavy lake effect snow, It was a great experiance.
  11. A play on words. My dependance on GOD for living and a passion for music.
  12. This is my friend and neighbor, an Eastern screech owl. He lives in that Beech tree about 50 feet from my cabin. He sits there perfectly motionless all day long. He thinks if he is motionless you won't see him. If you walk to close to that tree at night he will swoop down and hit you right in the head. It is extemely rare to actually see one as they hunt at night. He helps keep the mouse population down.
  13. Harry O, If you can, let Rob know I think about him, alot. Although weve never met, I consider him a friend of mine. He invited my wife and I to stay at his home when we were in Saratoga for the 2006 CSN&Y concert. I believe in the power of prayer and ours are with him. Doug, lugnutdoug@hotmail.com
  14. Roger, No special significance to 1976 models. Drove 1200 mile round trip to Chicago for my mint La scalas and they just happened to be 1976 models. Finally found a nice pair of K-Horns in Syracuse and they turned out to be 1976. Then got a mint pair of Cornwalls from Erie Pa. and they were also 1976's. I didn't really need them but just bought a nice pair of Heresy Decorators in Syracuse and guess what year, 1976.
  15. Cheaper would have been better but I don't regret bringing them home, I won't have to worry about scratching them. Plus its good to have exact year spare parts for my 1976 K horns, my other pair of 1976 la scalas, 1976 Cornwalls, and 1976 Heresy's.
  16. I got my 32 walters ppk when my Dad passed away. He bought it for 25.00 in 1959. It has the nazi iron cross and wings stamp which means it was made during world war 2. It has a nice leather holster with compartment for the clip.
