  1. Excellent scores!! I paid $150 on eBay for my KG 3.5s and was able to drive about an hour and pick them up from the seller. $50 is an incredible deal on them, I think they retailed at $600 when new! Mine are used as surround speakers and they really get the job done. I listen to a lot of music in multi-channel stereo and also music DVD/Blu-Ray concerts and they work very well.
  2. I had a HK3480 with a couple pairs of Klipsch (although not RF-63s) and thought it was a great match with Klipsch. It would be an inexpensive way to get a lot more quality watts to your front speakers, which I'm sure you'll appreciate.
  3. Happy to have given you the heads up on those. Hopefully the seller packages them well and they arrive to you safe and sound!
  4. Your RC-62 is a bit big for RB-51 front mains, but it'll allow you to upgrade them in the future if you want without having to upgrade your center speaker. If you're 80% movies/TV then you'll really like having the RC-62. RS-42s from the current Reference lineup are excellent, although you can certainly go with older Reference such as the RS-25, RS-35, etc.
  5. Tell me about it! The Belles were posted for sale right after I bought my Forte IIs. I don't know why but I didn't even think of contacting the seller about them. At the time I could have easily re-sold my Forte IIs for the $500 that the Belles were listed for. I did almost buy the KLF-30s, in fact I emailed the seller about them but then my best friend expressed interest in them and I let him buy them. He had just been divorced and was buying a few things that his wife would have never let him buy. I actually had his KLF-30s at my house for about a year while he was figuring out where he was going to settle down. Let's just say they were well taken care of while they were here! [6]
  6. Welcome to the forum! I doubt if anyone here is going to recommend any type of in-wall speaker to go with Heresy's. If you feel your KG 1.5s are overpowered by the Heresys are you able to raise their output level in your Yamaha's setup menu? In-wall speakers are typically recommended as a last resort or where high-fidelity audio is low on the list of why you're using them. I can pretty much guarantee that you'll like your 1.5s over in-walls. Can you take pictures and give us an idea of why your 1.5s won't work? Would putting them on stands work? Also, you mention 'rear speakers' a few times, although in a 5.1 setup the surround speakers are intended to be placed on the side of the main listening area and not behind it as in the old Dolby Pro-Logic days. Would a configuration like that work? http://www.thx.com/home/setup/speakers/51.html
  7. Blu-Ray isn't just about 7.1 versus 5.1. The lossless audio formats present a significant step up in overall sound realism and dynamics. If your Onkyo receiver has 5.1 pre-amp inputs and your Sony has 5.1 or 7.1 pre-amp outputs you can connect the two using those inputs/outputs and also get the current HD audio formats.
  8. Please don't throw $110 towards speaker cables. http://www.monoprice.com is your friend when it comes to audio related wire if you really feel the need to bi-wire.
  9. Congratulations! We love pictures here so feel free to post them of your new setup!!
  10. The 7001 is going to be a much better value than the 5500. I bought mine for $400 shipped on eBay. You shouldn't have a problem picking one up for $450 or less, plus shipping if its going to Canada.
  11. My Onkyo TX-SR805 had an option in the setup menu for either 4 or 6 ohm speakers. Not sure if all Onkyos have that or if its just the higher end ones.
  12. Klipsch refers to the high level outputs as "passthru" which as far as I know means that the high level outputs don't filter any bass from the high level inputs. I would highly doubt any subwoofer damage would occur by listening to your speakers without the subwoofer being on.
  13. Its possible that your receiver thinks you have a subwoofer connected. Go into the setup menu and make sure the subwoofer option is set to Off. Please let us know if that helps or if it still seems they lack bass. Welcome to the forum!
  14. Nope. As long as the Blu-Ray player has 5.1 or 7.1 outputs via RCA interconnects and your receiver has 5.1 or 7.1 pre-amp inputs you'll also get the HD sound formats.
  15. Its not an incredible deal but not horrible either. If you're buying everything from the same person see if they'll knock some $$ off if you buy the RS-7s as well. I'd offer $1750 and see what they say.
  16. I missed $500 Klipschorns the other day. Since the inception of craigslist I've seen ads for: The above-mentioned Klipschorns $500 9/10 condition Belles $450 9/10 condition RF-7s $600 Cornwall II/Academy combo $500 9/10 condition KLF-30s (best friend ended up buying them!) $300 CF-4 And a lot more than I can remember. I wish I had more expendable income, I'd give Colter a run for his money.
  17. Easiest thing to do would be to contact Bob Crites http://www.critesspeakers.com and see if he sells a titanium tweeter diaphragm for the KSP-400. Otherwise replacing the entire horn unit will be incredibly difficult.
  18. What do you mean by joined? Can you take a pic of the back of your receiver so we can see how everything's hooked up?
  19. You could use the F3s with a C2 but a C3 would obviously be the perfect match. C3s are very difficult to find, so keep that in mind. I think at this point you should look into a new receiver, considering your comment about it. Looks like on eBay STR-DE598s have sold for about $75 tops. You could sell your Sony plus the Quintets and use the money towards a new receiver. Lots of people on here have had good success with Harman/Kardon, Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo and Marantz receivers.
  20. The signal going out a pre-amp output is raised and lowered along with the pre-amp's master volume, controlling all speakers at once. If it didn't it would be considered a line-out which is what most CD and DVD players have. Of course, you will have to adjust the amp's gain controls if they have them.
  21. I would leave the tone controls alone on what you're using as a pre-amp and use them on what you're using as an amp if need be. I would imagine that you want to send your amp the cleanest undistorted signal possible.
  22. What do you mean "with the decoders" ? I went from an Onkyo TX-SR805 to my Marantz SR7001 and the Marantz is incredible for both music and home theater. http://cgi.ebay.com/Marantz-SR7001-110w-x-7ch-THX-HDMI-HD-Ipod-2nd-Zone_W0QQitemZ130320519625QQcmdZViewItemQQptZReceivers_Tuners?hash=item1e57b551c9&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
