  1. I/m still mainly a vinyl guy, just trying to get my digital to sound better. Love to find one DAC what would help my CD players and laptop and would not break the bank.
  2. I have been reading about ways to get better sound from my CD players and laptop. DAC's look like the way to go, but get more confused the more I read. I have a Denon SACD CD player, about 6 yrs old and a Marantz 5 disc carousel CD player about 2 yrs old. My son gave me his old Acer Aspire laptop about 3 yrs old. He has about 22,000 songs in his itunes library recorded in AIFF in Itunes. I have been reading about Benchmark, PS audio, Cambridge Dac Magic, Beresford and Musical Fidelity VDAC DACs. These would be in my budget. I want DAC that would work great with CD player and laptop. I/ve read where the USB ports on these DAC's are not that great. I/ve also looked at the HRT Music Streamer II USB DAC and Nuforce USB DAC. Would I be better off getting separate USB DAC for the laptop, then separate DAC for the CD players? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks. David Hammer.
  3. I picked up the new Clapton and have listened a couple of times. Sure wished there were more tunes that rocked. I love Clapton, but getting harder to listen to so many slow song.
  4. Anyone heard any of the new John Lennon Remasters? Have bought them all before and don/t want to buy again unless there is whole lot of difference in the sound. Thanks.
  5. Does anyone own the new Logitech Squeezebox Touch? How does it sound? Do you use a separate DAC with it? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks. David.
  6. Theres a refurbished IPOD classic 5th generation with the 240GB upgrade for $295.00 on EBAY? Have you had any problems with yours? Just kind of leary of refurbished anything, but guess thats all will be able to find for the 5th generation.
  7. Which IPOD will this work on?
  8. Thanks for your information. I will check out the KLipsch headphones. How do you upgrade the hard drive to 240 GB?
  9. Thanks for your reply. My son has IPOD Touch and sounds great through headphones but not all that great through stereo and vehicle. What speed do you rip in? He just uses the standard one on ITunes 128 high quality AAC and sounds great through headphones. I have more than enough music to fill up the 160 GB and want to get as much on there as possible. Headphones probably would be my prior listening source. I have been reading bout lot of the add on stuff you can get to make it sound better through your stereo, but hate to put that much money in that. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. DAvid.
  10. Anyone on here own the 7th generation IPOD Classic? Would you recommend it?
  11. Does anyone own the new 7th generation IPOD Classic? Would you recommend it? Thanks.
  12. Picked up the new CD by Arcade Fire, The Surburbs, and is some of best music I've heard this year. Track No. 6, City With No Children, has best hook that I/ve heard in long time. Can/t get that song out of my head. Other great tracks also.
  13. Think this is all hype or they will actually be better? I have pretty much everything they have released on CD and vinyl (American and English stereo and mono versions). Hate to pluck down more on these unless they a lot better. Anyone have any insight on the new Remasters due for release in 9/09. Thanks.
  14. Hey Craig, you are the one I bought the Amp. from I think, lol. I will try to get a fourth one. Where do you suggest I look? I had a pretty new Svetana EL 34 that I put in and works. Thanks. David.
  15. I have switched the tubes around this tube won/t bias in any socket. Other tubes will bias where the bad one was. Any recommendations on replacement of set. I have the VRD stereo amp. that was purchased from fellow Klipsch member and have the Peach preamp. Reason I purchased the Mullards is I thought they would go thousands of hours, but guess not. Thanks for any information.
  16. I have quad set of Mullard EL 34 XF 2 and one tube will no longer bias. Is it dead? I/ve had them bout 5 years, averaging bout 2 hrs per day. If so, should I just replace the one or get all new set. Thanks. David.

    Genesis

Anyone bought the new Genesis Box set yet? Is it worth it? Only one I own is Lamb Lies Down on Broadway on album. Like to purchase more by Genesis, but don/t know which ones to get. None of them are rated very high in Rolling Stone Record guide, but would like to have few more by them if someone can make some recommendations. Thanks.
  18. I have a 19 year old son that is starting to like my classic rock albums. Makes me proud, lol. He likes my klipsch speakers also. They just don/t make albums like most of these anymore. I try to listen to some of the new stuff, but most doesn/t do anything for me. I/m sure some of them are our age, but have seen list on Rolling Stone and other magazines etc., and most of these are on their lists also. I love turning that Hendrix album up loud. All Along the Watchtower is great stereo also. Don/t know if i would have put Genesis Lamb lies down on broadway. I/ve got it on CD, but only few cuts do anything for me. Most critics put a van morrison album on there top lists, but wasn/t on here. Keep playing those classic tunes. Let me know if anything new worth buying.

I was wrong, it did have Doors album. Kinda sad all the great albums were made years ago. I feel sorry for people who do reviews in music magazines today. Been so long since heard album that compare to most of these. I/m gonna pull out a bunch of these and start playing them.
  20. I meant it didn/t have any by Bob Marley instead of Bob Dylan.
  21. Just received new Sound and Vision magazine. It had their top 50 albums of all time. Guess it can be viewed at their web site, soundandvisionmag.com. I couldn/t believe I had all the 50 albums listed. There is usually some off the wall stuff, but all in this list I had heard of and have. I agree with most of them, but didn/t have any Steely Dan, Neil Young or Bob Dylan or the Doors. I will list the top 20: 1) Beatles--Revolver, 2) Bob Dylan--Blonde on Blonde, 3) Jimi Hendrix--Electric Ladyland, 4) Rolling Stones--Let It Bleed, 5) Bob Dylan--Highway 61 Revisited, 6) Beatles--Sgt. Peppers, 7) The Who--Who's Next, 8) Derek & Dominos--Layla & Assorted Love Songs, 9) Led Zeppelin--Led Zeppelin IV, 10) Velvet Underground--Velvet Underground & Nico, 11) Elvis Costello--This Year's Model, 12) The Clash--London Calling, 13) Nirvana--Nevermind, 14) Pink Floyd--Dark Side of Moon, 15) Rolling Stones--Exile on Main St., 16) Led Zeppelin--Led Zeppelin II, 17) Love--Forever Changes, 18) Bruce Springsteen--Born to Run, 19) Jimi Hendrix--Are You Experienced, 20) Beatles--Rubber Soul. Others can be viewed at their site. These are all great.
  22. I remember reading this in either Sound & Vision Magazine or Stereophile. Can/t remember which one and can/t find the magazine either. He stated he was always looking for the best medium for sound. Just hate to buy another blame player, lol.
  23. This is to owners of Blu Ray players. Do these players play regular CD's also? I/m a huge Neil Young fan and read where his new archive series will only be released on Blu Ray discs. Hate to buy a player just to play his discs, but would be worth it if they play regular CD's. I/m not a big movie watcher. Thanks.
  24. Picked up the new releases by Coldplay and My Morning Jacket on CD. Some of best music I/ve heard this year. Anyone heard the vinyl versions? Love to have the vinyl versions. Just hate to pay the $20.00 plus for them.

    Neil Young

Read yesterday where Neil has chosen the Blu Ray format to release his box sets starting this fall. Anyone else heard this. Will they be released in any other format? Dang Neil I like you, but do not want to have to purchase another player just to play your discs. I know I could use it for movies, but not movie buff. Any other information on this will be appreciated.
