  1. The only obvisious reason Apple stores stopped carrying the Klipsch iFi are probably the name, price is too close to the Apple Hi-FI. Performance wise the comparison of the two completely different speakers is a joke (like Dan Frakes reviews ;-), and Apple couldn't stand to sell a decent speaker system product that makes their own product look inferior. I'm sure Apple Computer somehow pressured Circuit City to stop carrying a competitor of their Hi-Fi because the time and pricing was identical when clearing out Klipsch iFi inventory. There are other stores still carrying the Klipsch iFi still. CompUSA, and Microcenter come to mind. So since this was a key product introduction in 2005, do you really think its a discontiuned product this early in its life? BTW Jay I don't think it is discontinued since Klipsch just released it for reselling in England a couple months back.
  2. Hmmmmm [] You must be pretty particular if so few artists/songs from '90's and '00's appealed to you! Surely some types of music genres are worthy of buying a album on occassion? (Jazz comes to mind)
  3. You have to kinda have be a history buff or know a lot of the customs of this era to get into this adaption based on the book by Jane Austen. Some of the acting was terrific, the attention to detail of the times was excellent when taken as a whole combined with the gorgeous spots they picked to film the story. Donald Sutherland had a wonderful time playing the father of 5 unique girls and married to a wife who was somewhat erratic at times. Perhaps if you come from a large family you would instantly recognize the similarities in todays families as the oldest being the most serious, and the youngest ones always in trouble, and always there is a daughter that is her fathers favorite. Judi Dench really did a good job playing the grand old Lady Catherine de Bourg who is extremely proud royal blood who is against this relationship with a commoner. I thought Keira Knightley who playing Lizzie did a superb job of acting, adding a darker and more quiet character then in some of the other versions I have seen. Perhaps Amy in this adaption they truncated parts of the story a bit too much for your tastes such as the ending which you commented on.
  4. What do you do when you only want one or two songs off the whole album? To me it's not worth $15.It really depends on the music genre and artist for me. I usually preview all the CD track selections to see if it is worth purchasing and then only buy it on the release week so its usually heavily discounted at the brick and mortar stores for say $8.99 or $9.99. Sometimes the artist has released it as part of a collection which makes the decision easier. IMHO a artist should always release a CD that has several good songs, not one or two, so the fan never has to ponder a decision like you are suggesting.
  5. Right, iTunes is a rip-off when you consider the lower bit-rate downloads. Precisely why I don't buy any iTune downloads, just CD's and then import the music using AAC at 320 kbps. I rather surprised more people don't complain to Apple about this, but the problem is Steve Jobs doesn't appear to have good hearing anymore, especially after declaring the iPod Hi-FI to have high-fidelity sound!
  6. Excuse me but a spacer would only secure the ipod from movement, not have any electrical properties. You reading a lot from a few words. If you have two other iPod's that work and a Nano that doesn't, then that's saying that Apple staff needs to examine what might be the problem. It can't hurt to ask their tech support.
  7. What always attracted me to listening to the Klipsch iFi speaker system was the fact that you didn't need to utilize any EQ to get audio you could listen to for hours on end. My vote is also biased to using no EQ.

    Serenity

Well Stargate Altantis makes Farscape which makes Serenity seem rather amateurish in comparison [] Your two favorite actors from Farscape are now involved with Stargate Altantis. Its sad they didn't flesh out the preacher story from Firefly in Serenity (provide some answers to his mysterious background), but other then that River still reminded me a bit too much of Buffy the vamipre slayer in fighting the reavers.
  9. There are no issues about problems with Klipsch iFi speakers interfacing with Nano iPod, sounds like one line on the Nano interface connector is open. Call Apple about your failure, I presume you went through and tried a simple reset of the Nano. Did you call Klipsch? I would have sent a another email if no response. The insert is just a piece of plastic I believe.
  10. It is unusual to call a plastic spacer designed to prevent movement of a seated iPod as a "adapter." The term "adapter" usually refers to a device for connecting two non-matching parts, while the term "insert" usually refers to put something inside or into something else. Of course the insert clearly adapts the socket dimensions so the iPod has no movement when plugged in to the control pod. [8-|]
  11. Do you have a apple store or another store that carries iPod's local to you that you can visit to insert your nano into a similar device to test its output via that interface?
  12. I be curious to know if the RSX4 stock versus RSX3(iFi) sound better on the high end (bigger horn tweeter)?
  13. Anybody have a opinion on the winner of 2006 oscar for Best Picture . . .Crash? It certainly wasn't that popular at the box office.
  14. FYI Circuitcity has finished their respective closeout of the Klipsch iFi for $249. No longer listed online. Also noticed Sharper Image is no longer listing Klipsch iFi online. Many online dealers carry it still along with CompUSA and MicroCenter, so go figure.
  15. Its interesting that you have to pay a little more to get the 2 disk version versus a a single disk version for the first time with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Terrific deal if you want a complete set of all 4 Harry Potters with 2 disks each (eight total) goes on sale this Tuesday. This Harry Potter represented a abrupt change in the usual Harry Potter fare, but if your a fan . . . highly recommended!
  16. There is a review at ilounge.com that compares the HiFi to the Klipsch iFi, IM7, and sound dock. Click on the details regarding audio quality. Biggest weakness with HiFi compared to anything else, no tweeters!
  17. Getting back to the topic rather then fantasied that an iPod is designed by Compaq . . . Jheeeze what a active imagination! A audio buff today posted this: As clever and talented a man as Steve Jobs is, he lacks any real knowledge of home audio. Either that or he has chosen those words for some reason. He comes across like he doesn't know what great sound is. Even moderately high-end or entry level equipment will blow away any single contained (we used to call them consoles) system source like this one. You can't get the detail, sound stage, imagery and dispersion characteristics with a single unit like that. It defies the logic of what "stereo" actually is. While I am sure it sounds or as good or better than any other iPod boom box and is well constructed like most Apple products, it can't take the place of two channel. Steve should have said that "this is the best way to listen to your iPod without headphones or a complete separate component stereo system to contend with." Couldn't agree more!
  18. I hope Steve has a cast iron stomach because most comments about the iPod Hi-Fi from user community are not positive.
  19. From CNET "Steve Jobs says he spent, well, a lot of money on speakers in his time, he told a small audience of reporters Tuesday. But he said he's now giving up those expensive speakers for the new iPod Hi-Fi." I guess there will be some mighty happy people at Goodwill Industries! []
  20. The following quotes are from Steve Jobs: "Apple is reinventing the home stereo with the new iPod Hi-Fi, the first iPod accessory that adds true high-fidelity sound quality to the iPod." "IPod Hi-Fi's unrivaled acoustic performance and stunning design is at home in any room in the house." Personally I think Steve Jobs has spent too much time at Disney already . . he's living in fantasy land!
  21. This is a ideal time for Klipsch marketing to clobber Apple Computer by getting the press to compare the iGroove and iFi against the iPod Hi-Fi. You got tons of news clips about this product, get out there Klipsch and bang a few drums! Better yet let the press know that Apple secretly dropped selling the Klipsch iFi before coming out with this product.
  22. Apple is promoting the iPod Hi-Fi as the ultimate home companion for the iPod for $349. The specs are not that impressive, it can run on batteries and consists of two 3" wide range speakers and one 5" woofer with an frequency response of 53Hz to 16kHz ± 3 dB, with a maximum peak sound pressure of 108db. (wonder how distorted it is) Gheeze compared to the Klipsch iFi (even though it is not mobile) this system is not even close to deserving the term Hi-Fi. Even the Klipsch iGroove looks way cooler and has equivalent performance. Its the price that bugs me, with so many vendors competing for iPod audio products doesn't $349 sound a bit steep for this product? Additionally Apple very recently stopped selling the Klispch iFi system which they cleared out for $249, I wonder if they were concerned with the comparison or confusion with the name of iFi versus Hi-Fi.
  23. Oh Venon is definitely coming. [] Spiderman wore a black costume in several issues, it made him very hard to see at night! See this link for more information on history of black costume.
  24. When CompUSA was buying out GoodGuys I could have got a pair of RSX4's for about $120, or pair of RSX5 for $160, I'll probably regret that decision I didn't get them. [] Still good to hear that the RSX4 sounds that much better with the iFi subwoofer.
