  1. Here's some humor: While she is preoccupied you can watch anything on the big screen in the living room. She so busy dancing to the beat you now have to learn to cook all your meals. You'll can never fall asleep in the bedroom from now on, so get use to the couch. She will no longer notice you coming or going, heck she can't hear you. Your iTunes bill is suddenly going to go through the roof. You and your wife start awaking up earlier and earlier to grab the iFi remote! Your forced to buy a another iFi and then you start running into remote sync problems.
  2. I wouldn't knock a another person for pointing out a great deal on any Klipsch product. (Costco limited time buy) The more Klipsch owners out there the better! Obliviously Klipsch gets a great deal of information by all the comments in these forums either pro or con. For your information most electronic components are usually subject to limited testing (random batches), but any somewhat complex electrical assembly would have QA performed and be electrically tested to make sure it was working perfectly before shipment. I be surprised if Klipsch tested their refurbished speakers better then their new product. With either deal you are getting a great speaker system!
  3. I think this deal took all of us quite unprepared...its is truly a very limited time holiday steal of a deal from Costco. Considering all the recent advertisements and reviews for the Klipsch iFi I seriously doubt a EOL on this flagship iPod speaker system. These speakers when used with a computer are very natural sounding and have excellent stereo imaging.
  4. Andy gives some iFi power amp specifics in a earlier post. The RSX-3 is a 8 ohm nominal speaker per specs
  5. Its a shame most perspective buyers don't equate that fact to this system. I heard the iFi's being used for a digital audio demo at Apple Palo Alto, very impressive..shook the whole store! [8-|]
  6. We could hope that Klipsch would drop the list price as time goes on. Most of the reviews do mention the word "expensive." I speculate that Klipsch is about to release a revision of the iFi speakers (new remote, black) and is having Costco clear out excess stock of current model.
  7. Neo33 which Costco in the SF bay area still had them? I noticed coming back from a trip they are no longer available online. Update: Went to the closest Costco in the south bay to me and found a small pile of the iFi's still there. Grabbed one for $199! []
  8. Check out Costco's web page the Klipsch iFi is going for $249 and is not a refurb! So much for all those stores selling the iFi for list! Haha. Also regarding the subdued highs...thats a very minor audio quibble compared the really great sound you get from this system! A slight adjust in EQ is all that needed if you prefer a slightly more high end. Face it there aren't too many small speaker systems that can fill your house with this much volume!
  9. PC Magazine finally got around to writing a review concerning the iFi and it garnered 4 1/2. Review Of interest is the mention of the iFi frequency response in one paragraph: Our formal lab tests showed the iFi has a mild dip in frequency response in the upper bass as well as some dips in the upper highs, explaining the lack of "pop," but nothing to be terribly concerned about.
  10. Nice mini-review ottscay! I love the iFi and frequently recommend it to people in retail stores but I sure wish Klipsch would initiate a revision in the shipped package along the lines of all the feedback they have received. 1) Add a mini-jack stereo cord for computer operation. jheeeze it costs so much to include this. 2) No real documentation regarding iFi usage with a computer. There are a awful lot of non-iPod computer users out there in the marketplace. 3) Don't ship the battery installed in the remote because you never know how long the vendor has had the box before you buy it.
  11. So you have to use the AV cable because you can't use the universal dock connector in the iFi controller pod to output AV. Perhaps Klipsch or an competitor will come out with a breakout extender that allows the Video iPod to sit up a little higher from iPod gear but offer a AV and computer interface connections in addition to universal dock connector feedthru. Sure beats having to redesign iPod gear everytime Apple adds that next great thing!
  12. Yes. I was at a Apple store where they had a 30 GB video IPod working perfectly with the iFi. 60 GB should work too. It should have a plastic adapter to prevent wobble when seated in iFi volume pod.
  13. Aside from slight attenuation of high end that can be offset by EQ the iFI modified RSX-3 has a cleaner sound than the Promedia Ultra satellite speakers. Klipsch is using a 3.5-inch aluminum woofer and a 0.75-inch titanium dome in each satellite, plus they are ported.
  14. See Klipsch recommedations from http://www.klipsch.com/newscenter/feature.aspx?cid=1048 regarding recommended compression formats and recommended bit rates.
  15. Congratulation Klipsch on the consistent quality of iFi production. Except for the minor battery issue, nothing observed on the internet as far as any other problem. []
  16. Now we all know that the Klipsch iFi is a excellent computer speaker system in spite of it primary being marketed as a iPod audiophile quality speaker system. [] But I'm sure there are a lot of people who would be delighted if Klipsch also sold a multimedia speaker system "similar" to the iFi without the iPod dock/volume control. Could be a way to avoid the 10% "made for iPod" Apple tax rumor. []
  17. BobG answered the high wattage universal power supply question in a earlier posting http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/588677/ShowPost.aspx
  18. You need to buy the localize version of the Klipsch speaker. If it doesn't exist, complain a lot on these forums! While you can use a stepdown transformer to convert 240v to 120 volts you can't change the freq. Most electronic parts nor their power supplies can handle a different frequency without risk of damage. Of course you have no warranty when you operate equipment in this manner. I suggest you return your order.
  19. Currently Best Buy sells the iGroove to consumers for $279.99. For that much money a consumer starts becoming picky for a miniature iPod speaker system.
  20. Saw it at Best Buy, my take is that the iGroove is another me too product with average sound with a remote, although it does look nice. Perhaps the MSP needs to be lowered.
  21. Well a early review of the iGroove is online by iLounge http://ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/comments/klipsch-igroove-all-in-one-digital-music-speaker-system-ipod/ I find their conclusion interesting. "As we noted at the onset of the review, Klipsch has been gunning for SoundDock, but Altec changed the rules of the game when it introduced iM7 - a system with superior audio, a lower price point, battery-powered portability, and at least equal (if not superior) industrial design. Merely releasing a system nearly identical to SoundDock isnt enough at this point; iM7 is the target going forward, and any speaker system thats the same size, costs more and delivers less versatility will be a tougher sell in our view." There a lot of excellent images comparing all three speaker systems. I'm sure we will see many opinions soon on the Klipsch iGroove.
  22. Well I felt compelled to inject some humor [] After all 007 has been so serious lately. But the Palo Alto Apple store has been revamped this summer to support the buying a laptop and get a free shuffle deal for university crowd. Heck they even took down the iFi display because they didn't have any room because of all the iPod stuff.
  23. 007 wrote "I'm sick of seeing these freaking ipods and silly white ear buds, I hate iPods" For once I have to agree. [8-|] Now you walk into the local Apple store and are instantly overwelmed with "iPod solutions" instead of great computer solutions. The Palo Alto Apple store really (in Steve Job's backyard) is one of the worse! I am so sick of Apple stores that seem to cater only to iPod users...heck lets clear out half the software and computers and put in three rows of iPod this and that! What would Apple do if they didn't have those blasted iPods. Sorry but there's more to life then iPod's!! []
  24. Without question you will love the iFi over the Promedia 2.1. But be advised that the pod volume control works for the ipod dock and 3.5 mm stereo input on the pod only. The line-in (for a computer) on the subwoofer you control with your computer volume instead.
