  1. Wow. Jay clearly should not have called out a seller for no reason, but jeez ancientdude, give it a rest. I think that you are the runaway winner of 'dick of the week'. Congrats.
  2. I am selling my beloved Heresys (# 39R097/8). I am currently using these in a 2nd system but financial situation forces me to downsize. They are in very nice shape and have the risers attached (not angled). I believe they are oiled walnut. The labels are in great shape but were not filled out except for the inspection signature. The reason is they are stamped 'salesmen sample'. They were won by an audio salesman from Klipsch years ago. This is a really nice pair of original heresys. $525 firm. I will post or email pics. If someone could help me size the pictures that would be great.
  3. Jeff, I know one forum memeber that did an insanely good job was Cueman. I asked him a few questions about a re-veneer that I was going to do and he was really helpful. Just a thought.
  4. Preferably in Cherry. I sold mine that I had in a modest bedroom system and it was a big mistake. Thanks.
  5. They were on Craigslist and sold when I contacted the buyer. The buyer backed out. These are a good value if anyone wants a solid speaker on the cheap.
  6. Wow, Dean has a starting 5. I have three kids, one job and my house is nuts. I can say without hesitation that it's worth the wait.
  7. LMAO Cal, Get it hot, hit it hard is right!!! Sorry if I offended anyone. It was not my intention to start a brawl over file sizes. Best of luck.
  8. How could I posibly leave off Buddy Guy, the best performer I have ever seen. Period.
  9. I listened to a few Usher speakers about a year ago in Atlanta. They are an awesome value, engineered in US by Joseph D'Appolito of the MTM fame and made in Taiwan. I listened to the huge horn and the 719 monitor and was impressed. But the saleswoman was insanely hot, so take that with a grain of salt.
  10. Not necessarily the best or most talented, but the ones that you just enjoy the most. I am just curious who you guys like. I am going to start out with my favorite 5 (today anyhow) in no particular order (too hard). Mark Knopfler Duane Allman Rick Miller Trey Anastasio George Harrison
  11. A good point on the fortes. I've owned (and loved) both but the fortes obviously have a bit more punch. I've spoken with the seller and I think I could take them if I waved $400 in his face. If anyone on the forum is interested, I would be happy to check them out.
  12. Rudy, Thanks alot. I just finished mine and have been pumped - that is until I saw yours! Seriously though, I also made a DIY screen but have not made the border yet. It looks like you did a great job on yours and I was hoping to get a few tips from you. If you could spare a couple of minutes, email me with a phone number or I'll shoot you mine. Thanks and nice job - I love the speaks (obviously) and the seating is sweet.
  13. I really love the posts bitching about picture sizes. Another idea would be to take the leap into the new millenium. [sn] Oh, congrats on th score. Cornies rock.
  14. I seem to remember someone (Oldtimer, I think). Had a deal on the forum, but the guy decided to squeeze a few extra bucks by ebaying them if I remember correctly. A very nice pair just showed up on Raleigh Craigslist today. Asking $500. They appear to be in sweet shape. I know you are a few miles away but wanted to give you the heads-up.
  15. How much do you need? I have a bunch of walnut that I bought and never used due to my complete lack of patience (and skills). I'll never use it so I can offer a good deal. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get you some pics.
  16. Sweet setup Rudy. Enjoy. How do you like the Parasound gear? I have heard great things but never actually listened to any. What are street prices for the amp and processor if you don't mind?
  17. Looking at your insane speaker arrangement, I have a strange feeling that you will survive. []
  18. Frzninvt, I'm in Raleigh and will try to get a few pics for you today. I also have plenty of walnut veneer if you are the handy type. I have no use for it so I could include that as well.
  19. Meagin, I used to live in LaGrange. I wish I still had that house - I could retire.
  20. I have a single LS Birch stained with Cherry. It is not perfect cosmetically but not a beater either. Someone went a little nuts with a sander but the corners and edges are good. I have made a grill template and have some heritage cloth so it can be dressed up to look nice. I think that it's a mid-80s vintage. Shoot me a message if anyone is interested. Asking $375. I also travel the Carolina and am making business trips in the near future to Atlanta and Williamsburg, VA. Yeah, I'll post a picture tomorrow.
  21. It's time to consider replacing the tubes in my 240. I am on a budget and want to spend the money where it will make the most difference. Is it better to spend the money on power tubes, rectifier, etc? If I replace all with NOS tubes, it could get a little pricey. Any recommendations or guidance is certainly appreciated.
  22. When I was finishing my attic, my 4 year old broke one of my power tubes. While it was down, I used the NAD receiver with the TAD and it warmed up the sound considerably. Everyone is different and alot of tube/SS combos sound sweet, especially with horns. I need to update my profile. I spent a little too much money on fishing my room and had to dump a component or two. The Monarchys and the AH! had to go. It is a very sweet sounding player WITH the upsampler. I honestly was not blown away with the player without the upsampler. To my ears, in my system, the Sony ES player was very, very close to the unit with the upsampler and I like it better than the AH! without it. The Ah! 4000 is an awesome value and is a very detailed player that sounds great. Even though I sold it, it was due to cash flow issues and not performance. I just went a little nuts. Go Steelers!
  23. The Mac, TAD, and La Scala combo is a winner for my ears. Paul is a great guy and makes some great value equipment. Can't feel too sorry for a Cowboys fan from Austin after the Vince Young show for the title. I want to see Bill Cowher get his credit for being a great coach. He played at NC State where I went to school.
