  1. The DRD 2A3 monoblocks replaced the Moondogs, the DRD 300B monoblocks replaced the Laurels.
  2. Neo, I think he is referring to your SET monoblocks (TBD).
  3. bass656, welcome to the Klipsch forum! That was truely a generous thing for you to do, you will always know the speakers went to a good home! Garymd, congratulations! This has to be one of the most memorable days in your (audio) life. I know the speakers will be very well taken care of and appreciated.

  5. 133 posts in 1 week...at this rate you are going to set a new world record.

It is very hard spending close to $1500 - $1600 for a set of amps that will not be used 90% of the time in my case. There are some things you just don't know until you can sit down and have a good listen. Dean found that out with Khorns, for example. ---------------- I wouldn't put out that kind of cash for amps that I wouldn't use either. Believe me, it was a leap of faith for me to buy the Moondogs. I had purchased other low powered amps previously (top of the line Decware Zen monoblocks , ASL MGSi15dt/s) both are advertised as having more power than the Moondogs but neither could put out as many SPLs in my listening room. I never figured 3.5 wpc could ever be enough. I owned or auditioned many higher powered amps also, both SS and tube. There are a few of them I'd still love to own if I could afford them all. The intent of my first post was to say that IMHO I don't think the Moondogs and Wrights come up for sale all that often. I have no idea how many are sold that are not listed on ebay or AudiogoN, but I have seen every pair listed at either place for the past 3 years or so.
  7. When I bought my Moondogs I waited over 6 months for a pair to come up for sale. After a year and a half I did end up selling them...for a higher quality pair of 2A3 monoblocks (JF Lessard Horus). I agree with JMON's post above. When you do find a pair of Wrights or (especially) Moondogs for sale, they do not last long, and they seem to hold their value exceptionally well. FWIW, I often use my 2A3 amps for background music. I can put some music on and listen no matter where I am in the house, or on my deck. This is also a liability at times, if I am in the basement doing some serious listening my wife often comes downstairs and politely requests "TURN IT DOWN!"
  8. LOL! What kind of amp does he prefer?? Do you care if I put the photo in a post instead of clicking on the link??
  9. Spider, It would help in offering amplifier recommendations if you would tell us what size your listening area is, what type of music you listen to, and how loud you play your music?
  10. Most ISPs provide you with web space that you can use to park your photos. I always put my photos on my own space and then link to the photos here. For me, it is easier than uploading them to the BB then copying and pasting in the url, but it requires you to have ftp software to upload to your web space. I belive the BB limits how many photos you can link to at one time when you photos are stored in BB space.
  11. This is pretty hard to explain with the BB changing characters. Open with < close with > and put 'img src=theurlofthephoto.jpg' in between...without the 's !
  12. I am looking forward to getting the Horus back so I can hear the difference in the circuit (I hope I can hear the difference). I am also looking forward to hearng the GG preamp since I have read so many great comments about it. I thank Erik for all the work he has done on my behalf!
  13. Hint: Type < img src=http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/Thebes2.jpg > but you need to take out the space after the < and before the >.
  14. Now that you mention Sansui, I had an AU-717 and TU-717 that I really really liked. I didn't listen to the combo with the Heresys but I did have them driving a pair of Forte' then a pair of Cornwalls. I really liked the amp, the only problem I had was with the stepped attenuator...when it was at its first notch the music was too loud for background music. As long as you are looking at options, you really should consider an integrated vintage tube amp, but it might not be in your price range once brought up to spec.
  15. Welcome to the forum JjR. I have had a pair of Heresys paired with a CR-1020 since I bought both new in '78! I have tried many other amps, recievers and integrateds with the Heresys but I still love the Yamaha and the features it has, particularly the loudness control. If you like the way your amps sound but the light is too bright, I'd find a way to position the receiver so the light wasn't shining in your eyes, wear a blind fold (or something), or remove the bulbs! I do agree that many others like the HK line but I have never heard one in my system. Let us know what you end up doing if you don't mind!
  16. I have had several folks over to listen to my basement rig. My wife thought I was completely nuts, but I assured her that I felt I knew each of them from exchanges on the forum. I would not be receptive of the idea of some 'complete stranger' (which is the same category my wife classifed Kipsch forum members) drppping by for a listen. I have bought and sold many item on ebay and audigon. When these sales are local, which I welcome, I always meet somewhere other than my home. Perhaps I am just paranoid.
  17. Congratulations on getting your K-horns, Edwin! Thanks for sharing your photos also, your K-horns look to be in exceptional condition.
  18. Nice post Colin, but the original question was regarding the HK340, not the HK430. Me thinks we must wait for Erukian to confirm which model he is inquiring about!
  19. Here is a link to the owner's manual from the Harman Kardon website.
  20. Here is an 'ad free' google proxy. Google Watch has a bunch of anti-google info on it.
  21. Nice photos Erik! The OTL looks great, as do your slightly modded K-horns. I was hoping to see a shot of your vinyl rig (as listed in your sig). Does that normally occupy the top 'O' the rack where the OTL is sitting? I think it is this BB software that eats photos that are included in the first post of a thread...

Clock Radio? ---------------- Sorry Dean, I somehow interpreted your comment as 'dissing' Neo's opinion. Your remark was closely followed by Craig's clever quip, then came the Parrot's comment. Just to be clear, I don't condone Jazman's response either, it would have definitely been better left unsaid. It isn't that I (or anyone I hope) have a problem with folks expressing differing opinons on these topics - IMO that is what the forum is all about - exchanging ideas and experiences. It is the constant disparaging remarks against those who have opinions who differ from ours that is the problem. That is what I thought was happening in this thread. That was why I posted. It is easy for anyone to go back and quote past comments that were offensive, insensitive, or not appreciated for one reason or another but it doesn't accomplish anything but to fuel the flames. Amy has asked us to 'clean up our act' and attempt to make this a nice place play. The only way I can see to do that is to give opinions without belittling the opinions of the other forum members. This applies to everyone, not just a few.
  23. You know, IMHO, it is a sad state of affairs when someone asks a serious question about SET amps at a forum devoted to high efficency speakers - and proponents of SET amps can't participate without being ridiculed. Popbumper, if you were to surf on over to the Audio Asylum and ask your question there, you would get some straight answers from people who actually use SET amps and bypass all the flack from the SET haters that want to rule the roost here. This is just another thread down the drain because someone was interested in information on SET amps.
  24. Beautiful K-horns! It is amazing (to me) that you had such a short wait between ordering and delivery.
