  1. jc, how bout www.wantads.com see some klipsch on there.
  2. klipsch, here's that chart i lifted off another post: 1962 A 1963 B 1964 C 1965 D 1966 E 1967 F 1968 G 1969 H 1970 I 1971 J 1972 K 1973 L 1974 M 1975 N 1976 P 1977 R 1978 S 1979 T 1980 U 1981 W 1982 X 1983 Y i have mine('84) in the short wall corners too @ 45 degrees to center. sound excellent & will sound even better i'm sure when I get that new higher current amp w/ better dsp modes for the rear channels ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd player Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on!
  3. bb, it's just that a lot depends on the characteristics of your receiver (bass mgmt) & the sub. probably the ideal especially for music is to put the sub in the loop line level between the receiver's main preouts & amp ins & set sub:no. but my sony for instance has no preouts nor amp ins. so I have to live somehow w/ the sub preouts & a lil incompatability between my sub & the sony's bass mgmt. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd player Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on!
  4. ok, as far as the theaters - our systems in usually much smaller rooms & w/ fewer listeners to satisfy should & do in most cases kick the arsses of most local picture houses. t-man makes a good point- w/ a lot of HT material they don't put a lot of real low bass in the surrounds or effects & it's not localizable anyway so why not route it to a good sub(s). but a klf-30 still puts out more spl for the localized bass than say an s6. & that would be especially good for music dvd & cds in 7 channel stereo (if that's your cup o' tea). if i had cola's case, i'd put in klf-30 as rear surrounds, the s6 as surround A & another pair of the 30s as surround B (music only). believe that's what denon pretty much recommends in their manual too. best of all worlds there baby. of course like my room, i'm figuring as using the long walls for the s6(wdst), surround B 30s toed in @ 45 degrees in rear corners & surround rear 30s on the back short wall. bitchin! oh & as keith says more subs. thanks for the vicarious experience guys! ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd player Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on!
  5. but u have that denon(?) what about music & 5 or 7 channel stereo? w/ the 5800 u can rock full range on 7 channels plus w/ a good low sub. whoops, we may be getting into that preferece thing
  6. call the parts dept @ 1-800-KLIPSCH. but why not keep em biwired? missin something here...
  7. many makers never seem to talk about current or amperage, though that makes a signif difference in sound w/ something like the klf. so it's more than just watts. not that i have anything to brag about - my sony gets by ok w/ the klf, but i know it could be better. still it's best to put the $ in the speakers 1st, right? ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd player Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on!
  8. hey cola, overkill, how's that possible? actually the majority of opinions for 7.1 seem to recommend using direct speaks for the rear effects vs. wdst. but they also seem to go for the wdst speaks for the surrounds (sides). that's the way i'm leaning if/when I get that new denon or marantz. think it really depends on source material & tastes (how u like things localized) for the best set-up. just thought maybe u might want to try that, put that other s6 in action, & save some dough. & w/ that set up u could even add the 3rd set of klf-30 as B surrounds for some movie vs music flexability ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Teac 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  9. suppose to if u use something sharp like a lil knife. they had to cap those due to european electrical regs.
  10. janko, i'm not going to touch that until the new rsw are out & about. heard svs is coming out w/ new subs also, but haven't heard when. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  11. & some of those e-tailers are still showing the lf-12, but it was never commercially released by klipsch.
  12. no go on ppv steve. well at least for all the action ppv movies that would have to be 5.1 that i've watched. they use InDemand for ppv. don't know if that's their own or an outside broadcaster. btw, is that your real name or did u go to OR State or maybe both
  13. just to get something in dolby digital 5.1 from an alternative source than the old dvdp/blockbuster route, i did go & get showtime on my AOL Time Warner Digital subscription. like you DBS guys said - ther're a bunch of different showtime channels & most of em broadcast in 5.1. got HBO channels too, but they're not with it at all for 5.1 (ironic that AOL TW owns HBO). & none of their PPV channels are 5.1 yet. anyway the 5.1 from cable or sat sounds great & is a definite alternative for 5.1 sound anyway. hopefully they're not too far from offering digital video on demand with all the features & benefits of dvd at the same or lower prices. then after i return the last dvd & pay my last late charge, i'll wave goodbye to blockbuster (as I mumble obsenities under my breath) ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  14. briggs, i use to use my rf-3 w/ an HGS-18 (switched to klf for the main room) for music i found it sounds best just a lil above the 80hz mark. for HT I switched out the crossover. in reality though, since I connect only w/ sub outs to line ins, the crossover is usually switched out all the time as I can put up w/ a lil mudiness/echo than get up off my hindy but since it looks like you're running speaker level thru the vel, it may sound best to u to drop it down. f.e., let me guess - right now it's on 50?
  15. to question#1: though the other way is preferable(1 less connection), doubt you'd notice any audible difference so wouldn't run out & buy another Y adapter if that's the case. none of that stuff is going to really effect the signal the sub gets up to the sub. the key is at the ksw & it's design - u want to connect both input jacks if u want more output. from what i've seen the average port distance seems to be about 6 or 7 in. but many variables involved there. seen some reporting probs from that hole not plugged. might as well put the plug in. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  16. just because I may need it for 6.1 down the road, i'll start the bidding at $50. no offense - that's just what it's worth to me. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  17. actually none of the 3 klf towers have mag. shielded woofers. don't know why they don't but the ref line do (???) timing maybe.
  18. oh & on your blending ?, actually the rp does have two controls on each. using the above set up I mentioned, the contour is the bass section volume control (output) & the line level is like the crossover control on your ksw. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  19. quote: I also cant stress enough that you just need to listen to the speakers before you buy. Sometimes this is hard to do if not impossible given location and the local market, but if you can its worth more advice than this whole message board can give you amen! ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  20. yea i believe steve up there uses the rear preouts for his rear subs. guess u could use both those & the speaker levels to the rear speakers. don't know though if the denon cuts off the rear speaker connections w/ the rear preouts hooked up(?) do you have the rp hooked up only with speaker wire now? only remove the gold straps if you're using the main preouts to line in connection. then connect speaker wire from the front speaker terminals to only the high speaker level posts of the rp. i'd also connect the sub outs of the denon to the lfe in jacks of the rp. you can use the lfe out from one 1 rp to the lfe in of the other rp. i found doing this i got much tighter cleaner bass from the rp sub sections. use good shieled short as possible interconnects. no matter what u hear, i don't think you need real expensive cables here. radio shack has a good Gold interconnect cable for less than $10. then if u still decide to hook up the ksw up front, you should still have 1 empty sub out jack on the denon to spare.
  21. hey zep, how'd the change from 30s to 20s happen? was it something we said? maybe I shoulda listened more to the 20s. the 30s seemed to pull me right in to them. maybe it was the bigger magnets ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
  22. no, not at all. these newer biwirable models have 2 sets of posts & each set is connected to the different drivers in each speaker. yours aren't designed for biwiring, so you get spared the anguish
  23. the 8000 is exactly the 1 i'm currently leaning toward. after having this sony, the silence of the marantz is simply amazing. of course i'd like to try it at home 1st. ------------------ Klipsch KLF-30 (front), KLF-C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect & Monster Z-12 cable Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box 2nd room: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage '75) Technics 5-disk cd changer Sega Genesis game player Sub: None rock on!
