  1. I should also mention that the Lp racks came from a local used record, book, comic book store that moved into a new building and purchased new wire display racks. I didn't want to give the impression that I have been an Lp dealer, I am not nor have ever been. Just a very addicted collector and music lover. I am taking this major stride trying to keep from losing my home. My wife isn't even aware of the depth of our trouble, and hoping to avoid telling her until I have found the solution. This is all due to my trying to financially help my family (84 year old mom and disabled brother) when I couldn't help as much as I have done. Sometimes a man just has to do what he has to do, but I have overextended and by being able to help them keep their house, have just about lost my own. Tough situation, but now sure how I could have done it differently. Just tough times I guess. This money will get all back on track and I won't let it get behind again. Sorry to ramble, just felt a little explanation might bring things into focus, for me at least. I just made the decision this morning that selling my collection was what I HAD to do. Steve
  2. dwi, Hope is about 5 hours from here and I can't attend. I would love to, but it won't be possible. I would have to rent a Uhaul truck and make the drive, and right now there is no way I can do that. I am 100 miles north of Tulsa on I-44. rplace, Lebanon is east of my about 100 miles, straight shot on I-44. Our local high school football team is in the same conference as Lebanon, so it may not even be that far. Hopefully someone here can take advantage of this offer and get themselves a great deal and help me out at the same time. I forgot to mention I am including 3 commercial Lp display racks. These are 3 tiered racks holding 4 rows of LP's with each being approx. 4'6" wide. These are not homemade racks, they are heavy MDF construction with sliding doors below. Each rack holds approx. 700 Lp on top, with storage for about 1000 lp's below. These 3 racks will hold all of the Lp's, with storage for about another 1,000 below. Steve
  3. Due to financial hard times, I am forced to sell my Lp's collection. This really saddens me, but I have no other choice. I have been an avid vinyl collector for 15 years and have amassed a collection of at least 4,000 lp's. It consists of mostly 60's-early 70's rock (lots of obscure 60's bands), and approx. 500 jazz lp's (including some 50's-60's 47th St. BlueNotes, Norgran, etc.). There are also approx. 75 blues titles. I don't have a list of it, but in the last 15 years I have peice by peice handpicked alot of nice stuff. Lots of time, money and effort has gone into it, which has been something that I have enjoyed immensly. The collection does not have any of the common 50's pop stuff. Lots of white label promo's, picture discs, colored vinyl and excellent condition vinyl. I have always been very picky on vinyl condition. This represents 15 years of my life and has wowed everyone who has seen it. The collection has not been, nor will it be picked over. It is being offered 100% of what I have collected over the years. I live in the SW corner of Missouri, and am needing $5,000 for the collection. This averages approx. $1.25 per lp. It includes approx. 75 MFSL and Japanese pressing of rock and Jazz. Including the MFSL of CSN&Y Deja Vu in M- condition, which is one of my favs. Lots of Led Zep (including a very rare german pressing titled Led Zeppelin 1st and 2nd) that you can find info on by google searching 50 rarest Led Zeppelin records. It is #18 I think. This is not a collection of junk, this was all hand picked individually by me. I have also picked up alot of obscure rock and psych groups. Chocolate Watchband, 13th Floor Elevators, still sealed Bubble Puppy lp, lots of Zep, Floyd, Hendrix, Dylan (some WLP stuff). Way too much for me to list, but wanted to give some idea of what is in there. I use this same moniker on eBay, Audiogon, vinylasylum and audiokarma. My feedback rating (mostly from buying) is 100% positive, so check out my eBay feedback to learn a little more about me. This collection is worth driving a ways for. I offered it first to Gilbert, since he lives only 100 miles from me, but it was more vinyl than he was interested in, which I can understand. This is a nice big collection. If you have any questions, you can either post them here or feel free to email me. I am in dire straights, otherwise this would never be sold until I am planted. Thanks for reading, Steve
  4. Please let me know if for some reason you don't receive it. Thanks, Steve
  5. Looks like the bargin of the day to me. Congrats!!!
  6. Sounds like a logical step to me. I much prefer listening to vinyl over CD's. Tubes, horns and vinyl. Stuff that dreams are made of. Listen to your hubby, he is a wise man.[]
  7. That is a good lookin table. Made when Sony made some quality stuff. Thanks for showing it off.
  8. I have learned some people have different priorities in audio than others. On one audiosite that I visit, the majority of members load up on all kinds of thrift, yardsale components. They might have 5 systems put together with a garage full of other audio stuff. I often wonder why they don't sell all of their mid-fi stuff and get them a really nice setup that they could enjoy the rest of their lives. I can see how having a bunch of different Klipsch would be fun. Different strokes I guess.
  9. I wish I had the money for these. They are only about 70 miles from me. I think they would look pretty nice with my Altec oak Model 17's stacked on top.[]
  10. Don't ya think? http://cgi.ebay.com/MEGA-RARE-Altec-A7-500W-Magnificents-Vintage-Speakers_W0QQitemZ9725358306QQcategoryZ50597QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. Craig, sorry to hear about your loss. I went thru the same thing 4 years ago. I think of him often, but not with sadness. The things I remember bring a smile. Take care. Steve
  12. oldenough, I agree 100% with Tony Rice. Truly amazing player. Good call.
  13. Jorma Kaukonen- Quah- LP Grunt 10209 For those who are not familiar, Jorma Kaukonen was a member of Jefferson Airplane. After they disbanded in 1974, Jorma came out with this basically solo effort in 1975. I would call it acoustic folk blues. I think it is an awesome Lp. Allmusicguide give it 4 1/2 stars and it deserves every one of them. It might be a little difficult to find, but worth the effort. On vinyl it is very well done. For those not into vinyl, it was also released on CD- Relix RRCD 2027.
  14. Found mention of this today and thought Gilbert and others might enjoy it. Sadly, I don't own a 124, yet!! http://www.stereophile.com/artdudleylistening/406listening/
  15. None of the above. I think his inner child is running wild and needs a good old fashioned spanking. Spare the rod, spoil the Mica. Although if the amps were returned with one being black and one grey (which I find VERY hard to believe) he does have reason to be upset. Pics would be helpful. It was probably someone like Mica that drove the Uni-bomber over the edge.
  16. Thanks Michael, sounds like a fun night. Sadly I rarely get to listen to live music. There are a few decent local bands, but not of the genre that I enjoy. What you experienced last night would be something I would really enjoy. Thanks for sharing it. Steve
  17. Mario just got stripped naked, doused with doe esturus and tied on all fours in the middle of the forest during the rut. Remember Mario, just think of a happy place.[]
  18. Thanks Dave. I will give you a call in the next day or two. I would love to hear your Scott and Blueberry, so hopefully I can make it. Whether I make it or not, I very much appreciate the invite. Steve
  19. For those that live in the Northeast part of the country, it might be worth your time to do some research on Northern Soul 45's. Northern Soul is USA soul music that met popularity with folks in the Northern part of the UK and is still going fairly strong. I don't know a whole lot about it, but from what I can tell some of the ones that have the most value are the virtually unknown soul bands who recorded on small labels, primarily the NE US. Very similar to the popularity of collecting garage bands of the 60's. I have seen Northern Soul 45's sell for as much as $8000 on eBay. I just thought it might be something someone here might find worth their time to learn about and keep their eyes open when thrifting or rummaging. There is very little investment involved, with the possibility of a nice payoff. The one I found and sold doesn't happen often, but there are quite a few of these 45's that will bring $100 and up. Steve
  20. Michael, it was pure luck. The 45 collection was approx. 300. They were all in great shape and well taken care of. I noticed some was Soul music from the late 60's- early 70's. The majority was country music, not my genre. I remember looking at this particular 45 and put it back down, thinking the Just Brothers was probably country music. Then I picked it up again and looked at the song titles and decided it was worth a chance, so it went into the buy pile. I am glad I changed my mind. I have some bills that have been piling up of late, so this will dig me out of the hole. Sure with I could spend it on audio though. It just goes to show even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.
  21. Hopefully someone wanting to get their vinyl feet wet will get this. Seismic, generous offer. You done good! Steve
  22. 2 weeks ago I went into the local Salvation Army to search for vinyl. I hadn't stopped in there for several months as they have had the same dreck in there for years. To my surprise, they had received a collection of Lp's and 45's the previous day and had used it to replace the usual junk. So, to shorten a long story, I ended up buying 3 lp's and 33 7"45's. It was on a Tuesday, and she gave me a Senior citizens discount for a total outlay of $13 and change. I am only 52, but she insisted that was close enough for the discount. I got to looking at the stuff I bought when I got home and found I had purchased a goodie. I had a friend list it on eBay for me and it closed today. http://cgi.ebay.com/MONSTER-NORTHERN-SOUL-Just-Brothers-Garrison-DJ-Carlena_W0QQitemZ4866820086QQcategoryZ306QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Sometimes you just gotta tell somebody. Steve
  23. Wow, Michael, that is one impressive mountain of Klipsch. I have 2 questions. 1) If you were forced to only own one set of Klipsch, what would they be? 2) What are those in the 3rd row over from you. The ones that look like the backs are showing. Steve
