  1. Thanks for the pics. Nice job. Bet it sounds great. I just split a pair of Fortes with Popbumper--nice score by the way on the $300 pair. I will soon be able to sell my single Heresy 2 and have three Fortes across the front. I think I would need to really buy my wife something nice if I wanted to mount Fortes in the rear and on the sides! I assume those brackets are screwed directly into the studs?
  2. Sounds Nice! Pictures? I would love to see how you hung the Fortes in the rear. Thanks.

  4. It is a great price hope it works out. I have only heard Forte ll's so about the same as you. When i got the second pair of Forte ll's i put one as a center for a couple of weeks, it was perfect, no change in sound across the front and voices were very nice and clear. But i had no rears so i put the speakers in the rear and set AVR to send the signal to the mains, waiting on another pair. You will be VERY happy when you get that single for a center. I was gonna ask if you had tried that...I take it you preferred having a physical speaker than the phantom center channel. I've never heard a phantom center channel, but I recommend it all the time - so I would be interested in what you feel the advantage of a real physical speaker is. Hey Who! I tried mine with a phantom center for awhile. I actually quit liked it. However, with the Heresy in the center, things just seem to lock into the screen better if that makes sense. However, for straight music it was quite nice. Just saw this on audiogon for an Academy OO if anyone is interested. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1153787780 By the way--anyone have any info on a cheap way to ship my single forte from TX to HI? Best pice so far is about $125 thfough fedex ground. Thanks Jeff
  5. Sweet! Great price on the fortes! I would like to hear the originals and 2s side by side to hear the difference. As it is I have only heard my original fortes, a single academy, a single heresy, and my brother's Epic 3s. Would also love to hear some chorus and chorus 2s as well. Too bad their do not seem to be many Klipsch Heads on Oahu. Just me and Oldtimer! How are you Oldtimer? Jeff
  6. Aloha Chris, You are up late over there on the Mainland! Woo Hoo! Thanks! Can't wait to get that puppy integrated into my system! Also can't wait to see your center when it is built. Have a great night. Jeff
  7. ALoha Jim, Check this listing on CL near you. http://bham.craigslist.org/ele/163943555.html No Affiliation. . . Do you have originals or 2's? Good luck. Jeff
  8. Congrats Doc! May your speakers always sound better each time you listen, and may the sweet sound of your system attract a bevy of beautiful babes to your door. Er...I mean...to listen to the music of course...a yeah--that's it! Enjoy! Jeff
  9. Xraygav, I see you picked up the academy on ebay! Congrats. Let us know how it sounds. Jeff
  10. If you did win the "Bob Crites" auction--how many hours could you put him to work a day and still be considered humane? :-)
  11. Another Academy on ebay--just passing it along. No relation in any way. Cheers. http://cgi.ebay.com/MINT-Klipsch-Academy-Center-Channel-High-Perfor-Speaker_W0QQitemZ9728771540QQcategoryZ116197QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  12. Thanks for the response. I was hoping when I first went to look that it might be one of these treasures with a Marantz or Mac amp inside! OH, well! When I saw Sears, I had no idea. Thanks again. Jeff
  13. I found this for sale near me. Is it worth anything? Stereo Multiplex by sears silvertone. Sears Silvertone Radio Phonograph. It has an old tube receiver with a tuner--the tubes lit up, but no sound. Two 8" to 10" woofers mounted on either side and two tweeters up front. It also had an old turntable as well. Model numbers on back said: 4079PC--Mahogony 4080PC--Walnut 4081PC--Maple 4082PC--Sorrento 117 volts 60 cycles 1.4 Amps 150 Watts Radio Chassis No. 456 Speaker C-37-499-4 64-3-0019505 Here is a picture. Thanks everyone! Jeff
  14. Does not look like it is in the greatest condition, but the price is right. No affiliation--yada, yada, etc. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9726787999&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1
  15. My wife and I both liked the Heresy 2 with the Fortes better then the Academy. The only reason I am going for another Forte is that I have a PJ and the Speaker will fit perfectly under my picture. I tried using the phantom center and it worked quite well, although you lose that "anchoring effect" that you get with a real center channel. For music, I usually set my Fortes to large and I get plenty of bass. For movies, you will definitely want a good sub to fill in the low end. I use a Mirage BPS 400. My brother uses both an HSU and an Adire Audio--both are great. SVS is another very good sub maker. You do have original Fortes and not Forte 2s right? What prices have you found for Fortes? Jeff
  16. Aloha! I am using a Heresy 2, and it does quite well. However, I am looking for an original forte to have a perfect match. If you find a nice pair and want to split them, let me know. I have been looking with popbumper to split a pair as well. Still hoping to find a good set cheap. By the way, a nice academy just sold on ebay this week for $350 I think. I just sold mine here on the forum for $400 last week. They are around at decent prices if you keep looking. Good luck.
  17. I guess you do not want to wait for the Panny XR700 that is supposed to come out end of summer? Of course Panny is well known for not putting things out on time.
  18. Aloha Everyone! How would a pair of original Chorus speakers sound with an original Forte as a center? Would it be better to do all Fortes? I already have the Fortes. Thanks, Jeff
  19. Aloh Glen, I am running my forte fronts and heresy 2 center with a Panny XR55. Loving it. You might want to wait a month and check out the Panny XR57 when it comes out. I hear the HK digitals are OK, but I would step up to the 2005 from what I have read on AVS--I have never heard them myself. I did see that Costco in SOCAL was selling the HK 2005 for about $500 when I was last out there. Good luck. Jeff
  20. Aloha Wayne, Thanks for all the kind words. I am glad you are enjoying the Academy now that you have it "dialed in." It was a pleasure meeting you and dealing with you. All online sales should be so easy and so smooth. Klipsch people seem to be on a much higher plain of integrity then most. May you enjoy the speaker for a very long time, and sell it for a profit when you are ready to part with it! Maybe on my next trip out to SOCAL I can hear your system, including the Cornwalls. Have a great night. Jeff
  21. Hey Cal, just sent you an email. Please give me a call so we can hook up. Thanks for the advice and the compliment Oldtimer. Appreciate it very much! Have a great week.
  22. Theater in action--couldn't resist. PJ is an H31 directly on the wall with a 115" diagonal.
