Academy with Heresy--Anyone know why the picture came out all warbly????

Aloha Cal, You are more then welcome to come and pick it up if you want--I would just have to set it up with my Bro, or we can work it out that I can meet you there if we do it before my wife and I head back to Hawaii on the 9th. I do have it boxed nice and snug for shipment at the moment, but it is no problem to take it out for you. As far as why we liked the Heresy 2 better... It seemed to my wife and I that it was a bit clearer. The difference was very minor really, but everytime I switched back and forth, my wife always liked the Heresy, so that is what we kept. Not very scientific, but what can you do. I will try and post some pics of the Academy to show its problem areas just to be upfront--they are minor, but there you go. Looks worse in the photos too. I am sure if you knew what you were doing, it would be an easy touch -up. Have you done any improvements on the X-overs in your Fortes? Just curious. I am trying to split a pair of Fortes with Chris--Popbumper. We are still looking for a nice pair. I might have him do my X-overs when I get some free cash.

Aloha Oldtimer, Sorry I did not get back to you earlier. I just brought the academy over to the mainland myself. It is at my brother's house in San Clemente, CA. I put it up on CL here for $450. I will drop it down to $400 for anyone here that wants it. It does show some wear, mostly on the bottom where the last owner--and original owner--had it on a white rack of some sort. I have more pictures I can email to you if you would like. I am still using the Heresy 2 as my center--anyone have a cheap pair of Fortes or a single Forte they want to get rid of that I can take back on the plane with me? Let me know. Cheers.

Aloha Everyone, Thanks for all the advice. I decided to get both a heresy 2 and an academy to see which one sounds the best with the fortes. Although I am still evaluating, the heresy 2 definitely seems to be the winner. It is clearer sounding and just seems to fit right in soundwise with the fortes. I am going to give it another week auditioning, but it looks like the heresy is going to stay in the center spot until another forte turns up. Now to get Dean to upgrade my crossovers! Thanks again.

Hey Flason, I have a BPS400 as well. It is huge, but I love it! May I ask what SVS you compared it to? I have been thinking of getting an SVS or HSU but keep hesitating because I am wondering if I am just wasting my time. Thanks for your input.

Nope, don't worry about baggin' the gear. Vikane is a colorless, odorless gas that leaves no residual. Once the house is properly ventilated by the fume crew it is gone. Does'nt even leave a film on things. Some folks don't even wash their dishes after a fume. Don't leave any pets behind or they will soon be takin' a dirt nap. Good Luck! Thanks Jorjen! Hey Colin, No pets yet. My wife is constantly dropping hints about getting one boxer and one irish wolfhound--our childhood dogs. But at the moment we are just renters and that will have to wait until we can get into our own home. From the looks of it that might not be until some far future unless prices come down a tad. On a happier note, my Academy arrived today! Yeah! Waiting for my Heresy 2 that I won on eaby to arrive to see which one sounds better as a center. The academy is sounding pretty good right now, I have to admit! I am one happy new klipsch convert!

I would stay in the house while they spray just to make sure no damage is done............ Cool, JB! But only if you agree to keep me company. We can listen to some tunes and play some poker while we wait! Then we can have an enjoyable hacking/gagging crawl down to the beach afterward to freshen up! Sounds fun.

Aloha All, Lucky we live Hawaii! I have been told that termites have invaded the garage door. They are gong to tent our place. Is there anything I need to know to protect my speakers and other equipment? Or is there nothing to worry about fro this gas that they use. Thanks!

I live in Hawaii--one of the reasons I do not just buy a pair--shipping is killer out here. I was thinking of getting a single Heresy 2, but the consensus here is that a forte makes much more sense. The color is not that important to me, however black would be my last choice. I am not sure exactly what color mine are--I assume walnut veneer. The main thing is for them to be in good shape soundwise. No pushed in drivers and all that. As far as price--cheaper is always better--lol! What do you think we could get a pair for? I bought mine so cheap that it had to be a fluke. It was probably because he knew he could not ship them off island, and they do have the invariable plant water stain on one of them--actually bubbled up the laminate. Why can't people just put something under the pot!!!!!! However, the drivers look and sound great. Where are you?
