A grand experience, feeling those low pipes move air.

Tuning an organ seems like a daunting process. I don't even know....one can remove material to sharpen/flatten the pipe's pitch, but what happens if it needs to be reversed?

Each pipe has a means of adjusting its length. Open pipes have a collar or slot at the top of the pipe which allows the length to be changed, shorter to raise pitch and longer to lower pitch. The stopped pipes ( those that are closed at the top) have a device which is like a tight fitting plunger inside the top of the pipe. Pushing it further in makes the pipe effectively shorter, raising the pitch, or pulling further out will lengthen the air column, lowering the pitch. The stopped pipes play one octave lower in frequency than they would if the stopper was removed.

And yes, tuning even a small pipe organ is a big project, ask me how I know!

My guess would be "no" as that would be incredible overkill.  Moving a pair of 175 pound Khorns requires two people, a truck and hours of labor.  It would take incredible luck to lug them out of someone's house and into the reception hall, then reverse the process to get them home again without damaging them.

And all for what?  To play music through speakers that nobody but you would appreciate?

If you are considering using your beloved Khorns for a wedding as a special wedding gift or something of that nature, my vote would be to rent PA speakers from the local music store.  Believe me, the bride won't care.  B)

This brought back memories...... In my college days, I once took my Klipschorns out of my dorm room ( 4th floor ) using the freight elevator to a Christmas party and dance  for the employees where I worked. The boss rented an Elks lodge hall for the occasion. Yes, much work for a dinner and dance party but I never forgot the SOUND!  35 foot spacing and perfect corners available for my use. And yes, everyone was in awe of the sound they heard.

Interesting conversation. I think that maybe the genius of Paul Klipsch is beginning to be appreciated in other circles......

Better late than never...Many people allow their biases to decide for them, I prefer to let my ears do that for me!

Looks like new zener diodes in them and small jumper caps probably 1uf (I cannot see the values) added to the motor run caps.  Looks like the autoformer tap positions have been changed.  Nice networks for Heresy HIP's.

The autoformer is at the factory setting for the HIE.

I think you're spot on w/that statement.  Kids today are looking for something flashy and the horns do nothing but compliment the cabinets enhancing that "coolness" factor.  When they hear them they LOVE what they hear and buy them.   Naturally he's gonna suck up and try to weasel his way into a pair of jubes!  hahaha!!!

I don’t think he’s heard the Jubilees..... If he had, I am sure he would have something to say.... Hmmmm maybe that can be arranged!

I’d be happy to have people over this fall when my house isn’t under construction. Western Slope Colorado

We demo the Jubilees in Silverton Colorado at Natalia’s Restaurant on the outdoor patio. Used for live performances and recorded music May through October. Really an outstanding speaker system for outdoor applications and incredible dynamics for live performances.

Having owned Khorns for more than 40 years and Jubes for 10 years, I’ll say this... The Klipschorn is still an excellent speaker but the Jubilee is a stellar speaker. If you cannot have a pair of each then I would chose the Jubilee, especially with the TADs. I knew this from the first time I heard them and my judgment hasn’t changed after thousands of hours of listening.

p.s.-  Don’t sweat the active crossover, I had my doubts but Roy made a believer out of me. There’s no going back now, easy to master and sooo flexible.

  8. I'm picturing products for a "Supremacy Series" that are dressed-up versions of specific professional line products, including the Jubilee. All of the Heritage series products were available as decorator models (except for Belle Klipsch). This is the same in reverse. I know Klipsch isn't in the design and installation business, there are many companies that provide these services especially in metropolitan areas.

They do it for businesses all the time, these can be bought and installed but I don't think Klipsch does home installation. The problem is they are not pretty, but they will blow your socks off. I say this because they have to compete with all the major pro brands and they do extremely well at it. Different companies do a setup and they compare side by side, it's done all the time, Roy calls it a shootout, I have seen some pictures. Cool job

As you said " highest level of specification", they can do it, from a small restaurant to the Rock&Roll hall of fame all the way up to a stadium. The bigger pro stuff is amazing with the area they can cover and the quality of sound. I am talking about a quality you could also put in your living room and have it easily sound great.

To go against all major brands in all kinds of venues and different install specifications and come out ahead more than not, you must have to be doing something right.

They just named it PRO instead of the supremacy series.

  9. I see what some people spend on high-end kitchens for their homes with the highest quality commercial kitchen appliances. Perhaps the time is right for the same support in home theatre and high-end home audio design and installation services.

What if Klipsch created a product line to fulfill the very highest level of specification for the ultimate home installations, professional, adapted for home?

    Call it Klipsch Supremacy series!
