  1. I agree with Seadog. When I got back home, sat in my chair in front of my '78 Cornwalls and put on Brian Bromberg's "Wood"... I couldn't have been happier with the sound! Audio bliss.
  2. Tim said: "Roy ran them straight off the big Crown's and with a 50 dollar Emerson CD player and once again they rocked the house as no other 2 way to the best of my knowledge ever has!"
  3. There's a fellow in Maryland who does wonderful work reveneering audio cabinets. He's over at the AudioKarma forum and goes by the name Merrylander. He's a GREAT guy who also refurbs Yamaha hi-fi gear. Pull the drivers and they'd be easy to ship (and alot safer w/o the drivers). Go over to AK and check the Vintage Audio board and the Dealers "for sale" board. Or donate those old, beat up Heresies to http://adoptaklipsch.blogspot.com/. Local deliveries accepted. :-)
  4. My son-in-law got Dave's CD. BTW: They weren't kidding about the Old Charter. There was an empty liter in the trash.
  5. Pail seemed pale. Charismatic front-man, but pretty derivative stuff. Worthless Dave did a good set. A little too much Old Charter, perhaps. "I used to work at Klipsch for a short time, but I had a problem with showing up." He had a story to tell in his songs, and it wasn't the happiest. Reminded me of Billy Joe Shaver twenty (no, make that thirty) years ago. The third group rattled my faith in what I thought I had heard in the Heresy III's, LaScala II's and Cornwall III's. Noise is not a good reference point, sorry guys. I know, my bias is showing. But I loved 'em all for coming out and playing for us, but maybe I should have brought more beer and a flask.
  6. The 60th is just drop-dead gorgeous (more so than the 50th, IMHO). The Piano Black, the Lacewood, the real DIAMOND in the logo (a chip from the Hope Diamond, you think? ...or from the Arkansas Diamond Field?), the reduced gap between the top and the bottom all add up to a truly beautiful piece.
  7. A forum lurker (unregistered), and my son-in-law.
  8. And big thanks to picky for being the videographer of the Pilgrimage!
  9. My last updates here before we hit the road. Here's Trey leading his daughter into a life of sin as a Lighting Technician.
  10. Apparently there were three factors involved. 1) The European Distributor/Dealers made the request for the 60th Anniversary model, 2) The US Dealers and Sales Staff were offered them, but had no interest/declined, 3) The EU Distributors wanted ALL 200 pair. After some period, any unsold sets will be returned to the US and made available (in the neighborhood of $16K). Also learned that the EU market gets LaScalas made of plywood, with the original dimensions, while the US market gets the new "new improved" models made of MDF only.
  11. Rolling out with my son-in-law in 2 hours. We've got his Heresy Industrials in the back seat, powered by my T-Amp and fed by his iPod! We should roll into the Klipsch Plant (well, parking lot) at 1:00 PM. See all ya'll then! ("All ya'll" is the plural form of "ya'll".)
  12. Just to give the pot another big stir, keep this in mind (no pun intended): If a Mandatory Helmet Law for PASSENGER CARS and TRUCKS was enacted, the resulting reduction in closed and open head injuries would be on the order of 100 times greater than the reduction seen in just a motorcycle law. If a Mandatory Helmet Law for SHOWERS and STAIRWAYS was enacted, the resulting reduction in closed and open head injuries would be on the order of 10 times greater than the reduction seen in just a motorcycle law. If you want a mandatory law, applying it across the board would seem to make sense. But people (and politicians) only like laws that apply to (or inconvenience) OTHER people, not themselves.
  13. How about marking the turns with flour, like a motorcycle "chalk run", to help the rest of us?
  14. I'll be blogging reports and blogging live over the weekend. Follow all the fun here.
  15. Northern or Southern? Half Bavarian, half Scot in my case. I'm always looking for a cheap party. :-)
  16. That's why a couple of IPAs ought to do the trick.
