  1. Yup...You have impeccable taste my friend.
  2. Can we vote? You can if you wish, but I would feel better if you looked at all the 50 photos and voted on merit...here's the link...... https://www.facebook.com/GlobalBC/photos/a.10152855106667808.1073741944.8475622807/10152855109802808/?type=1&theater
  3. That little guys parents would love that pic....Nice.
  4. I'm quite proud to say this photo of mine has been chosen by "Global BC" TV as one of their top 50 photo's of 2014, it's sitting in 4th place at the moment in a viewers poll....
  5. For 2 channel listening, go find a good stereo receiver, integrated amp, or separates. I have yet to find an AVR that can compare to a decent stereo dedicated system. I recently purchased a used Harman Kardon 3270 simply because it was so cheap, I use it for music alongside my H/k AVR 3600 for movies, which is no slouch as AVR's go, but the difference is truly noticeable. Your $600 budget can get you a truly decent set-up on the used market..
  6. Update...Well I decided that a well worded eMail to Head-Office explaining exactly what happened was in order, within an hour I had a response, and the following morning(today) a phone call from the store manager. The outcome?....A nice shiny new Pioneer Elite vsx-80...I think all is resolved....Squeaky wheel got the grease!!.....
  7. Yup! and everyone apart from "Oldtimer" and "Thebes" have it wrong....
  8. And the ultimate must have been...."We all live in a tub of margarine", surely an exercise to see just what the buying public would put up with.
  9. Right there is your source of not understanding. But in anticipation of a post such as yours I made the conscious act of " ".... I believe the lack of understanding is on your side good Sir...
  10. I don't understand Thebes obvious distain for The Beatles, I can think of many other "artists" who could have the same criticism pointed at them....I think this is all to do with The Beatles hammering the last nail into Elvis' oversized coffin...Speaking of Elvis surely he would have been a better target of some criticisms Marty brings forth. Although I'm sure he wouldn't want to touch such an American Icon....
  11. I'm not familiar with FutureShop -- is it a chain, or is it online? Either way they should cheerfully refund every cent. If they decline to do so, write the CEO. Or send your eagle after them. Hi Gary, it is a big box store...the "brick and mortar" type.
  12. I should have said at the start that I paid $349 for the AVR 3600 as it was their last H/K item and they were closing out on H/K...Yes it was a real bargain. My issue is that I gave them a quality receiver that could be repaired and they turned it into a write-off and were offering me a replacement that was much further down the food chain. What's more they down-right lied about it's status to begin with. I had even offered to take it back from them and find my own tech to repair it, even then they didn't fess-up about it's true status.
  13. Oldenough, That eagle looks like one half of the pair that roost in the tall pine tree in my back yard. Bill Shot that photo at the "Harrison Hot Springs Bald Eagle Festival"...they hold it here every year...it's the largest gathering of Bald Eagles anywhere.
  14. That sure would have been an improvement over the $349 receiver they offered...
  15. Some of you may have read my post in the H/T forum where I had to return my H/K AVR 3600 for repair under warranty at Futureshop about 6 weeks ago. So today I had to go back and make a choice of another receiver as my H/K could not be repaired, unfortunately Futureshop no longer sells Harman Kardon.. Well after much back and forth with the customer service lady and another associate at the store I decided that the best thing for them to do was to give me my faulty receiver back and I would see what to do after thinking on it. After a long silence and some confused looks an interesting story unfolded .... Seems my pristine, as in like new, H/K AVR 3600 had suffered from a gravitational occurrence, ie. someone dropped it before it got to the service centre for repair. They initially tried to blame this "accident" on me, and said they had neglected to notice the damage when I brought it into the store under warranty....I soon put them right on that theory!!! Apparently the service centre felt it was beyond repair. Not sure where I am going to go with this....Any advice?

  17. I'm going to take on Futureshop over these replacement "offers" , it doesn't seem as though I am being offered an equal product to the one I purchased, but instead being offered one equal to the price I paid originally. I don't see myself getting too far with this but hey you never know till you try... Thanks everyone for your input.
  18. I've noticed that the Onkyo tx nr 636 has some good reviews, and no mention of the hdmi issues, and a couple of mentions of it being fixed now. Maybe I can step-up to that model.
  19. Well thanks everyone, seems like the Onkyo shouldn't be considered, and my preference would go to the Denon due to other reports of their suitability with klipsch....I may have to see what I can swing in the way of an up-grade as I don't see any of these comparing to the nice sound of the H/K 3600, I have always owned H/K avr's and do have another 3600 that I use in the bedroom, so all is not lost. BTW Futureshop no longer sell Harman Kardon so that was no longer a choice, and was the reason I got the 3600 on close-out for $349 a couple of yrs ago.
  20. A couple of months ago my H/K avr 3600 went on the fritz, took it back to Futureshop where I had bought it as an open box item for a great price, now they say it can't be repaired and are offering me a choice of three receivers, none of which seem to me to be of the same calibre as the 3600. My choices are : Pioneer vsx 1029, Onkyo Tx nr535, or Denon Avr 700w Anybody have any experience of any of these, or have any advice to offer, I have to go there tomorrow so time is of the essence....Thanks.
  21. I have one German Christmas Carols album, I believe only a German could appreciate it...music is beautiful but the German lyrics and singing are bloody awful...
  22. Yup! I go for "Money or Nothing" usually, followed by something from Steeley Dan.
  23. Don't forget about this wonderful album from Bob...Honestly it is pretty good....
