  1. Isn't that just about the way it goes.... Nice looking AMP! Somebody grab it!
  2. Have you used it with a tube amp? How's it sound? Anybody else use this product with a tube amp and Klipsch speakers? Here ya go Meagain! http://slimdevices.com/pi_faq.html
  3. Meagain, "For audiophiles who are dubious about how an inexpensive box can compete with separates, read my blog. This box is the real deal, and when upgraded using a few simple tweaks (and when used with an external DAC), it is awesome!!! If you don't have or don't want a external DAC, the Squeezebox can be modified by a number of companies to upgrade the existing DAC and produce great quality sound. "
  4. I am assuming that running the signal through the Dynaco st70 will give it that "warm tube sound.." sure hope I'm right!
  5. For the analog output stage, we used extensive power supply isolation and filtering, with separate dedicated linear regulators for the DAC and line-out amplification stages. The PCM1748 DAC comes from Burr-Brown, a brand widely recognized for high quality and ultra-low distortion levels. Full 6Vpp line-out levels ensure a high signal-to-noise ratio through to the receiver, and power levels compliant with high-end gear. Per website.
  6. I am more reved up that I can use it on my wireless network to get my 13000 mp3's to my 2 channel setup AND use a remote. Definatly outweighs sitiing down with a couple hundred cdR's and having a "burn session." I gotta say, with Duke throwing the holy water on it, that its worth a shot! (and thanks, Thebes, for a healthy dose skeptisim. I am a textbook complusive purchaser!) [H]
  7. Oh now this is BAD ***! I love it when a plan comes together... AND I LOVE ALL YOU GUYS!!!!! It is going to look SO GOOD!!! AND IT COMES IN WHITE!!!!! (I posted in the other thread my Super White ST-70 being built!!!) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU KLIPSCHEADS!!!
  8. Hey Duke, They are all 128k, some better. I have a decent sound card, but only mini outs. "i am quite happy using MP3 VBR thru a Squeezbox ...." ya lost me here. keep in mind I have, (at this point in the game) ST-70, PC, MP3 Player, (a good one, not apple junk), and will have Cornwalls or at least Herisy's down the road. Whats a VBR and a squeezbox? Where is everybody else's comment? Come on guys, I know somebody else has an opion on MP3/CD/Tubes!
  9. I pulled the trigger on the custom st-70. My next concern is sources. I own over 13000 mp3s, but most of my CD's were "liberated" from me in college. (thank god they didnt get the Floyd box set) Can I get a rat shack mini to RCA splitter and use my pc or MP3 player with the dynaco and Corns? I prefer to purchase a merlin, but if I cant squeeze it in, wont the volume controll on the mp3 player (or PC) work? I dont own vinyal, nor have the desire to. Or would I be better off transfering the MP3's to CD and using a good cd player? Thanks!
  10. Congrats... I purchased my Panasonic 42 inch plasma over three years ago. Paid only $2700 from it, and would do buisness with them again. Needless to say, its not high def, but... NOBODY CAN TELL. It has been great. Not a problem. My soon to be father in law paid over 5k for an LG 50 inch plasma 6 months ago. He built it into some intricate woodworking, (columns and mantle) above the fireplace of his newly built house. Well, 3 months into it, it has a whole line of pixels out. So he contacted LG, and the offered to replace it with the current modle. GUESS WHAT: the new modle has speakers built in, and doesent fit between the columns. HE IS PISSED. So, thankfully, they gave him the 5K back, BUT, he has no tv. Plus, he wont buy a black bezeled Panasonic, because of the WAF. He is sceeeerewed. Panasonic is the leader in Plasma technology. I swear by em. Good luck!
  11. I pulled the trigger. in 2-3, I will have a super white st-70. [][]
  12. Congrats on the MAC!! Best wishes to you any your wife..... I have been on Audiogon, and absolutly fell head over heels in love with a reworked st-70.... I have also been talking to Craig, I am sure my patience will pay off in spades... What do you think? It just looks so clean, and I am like you in that it has to look as good as it sounds. A bit anal, but hey, whatever makes ya happy! I offered the builder $500 shipped, but it would be closer to $700 with a 2 week wait. Obviously I like something with a little "eyeball"....
  13. So, anybody have a mint ST-70 I can have for around $300??? (Simple pleasures, in this stage of the game, for meeee!!!) []
  14. Michael wont break the "code of the bookclub" they are sworn to secrecy.
  15. Help me here. This amp is 15WPC total, so 7.5 WPC maximum output. But it is solid state, so it does not follow the 3x tube output rule. Correct? What could one run with an amp like this?
  16. Michael, Whats the book? I just picked up Marley and Me, NYTimes list. Check it out. (WOW book clubs too? You do it all... dont ya??)
  17. Thats one expensive sub ya got there.
  18. That is the coolest thing I have ever seen.
  19. Great Job guys. I guess I would be more excited if I was part of the "family" (the 4.1's dont count) WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!! ROAD TRIP!!!!!!
  20. I have a friend that is interested in a speaker selector for the rooms in his home. google pointed me to a crutchfield brand called Niles (for $99). Anybody use a selector that I can confidently recommend to him? Thanks.
