  1. Neophyte! I'm having it delivered next day so I can get it up on epay for a handsome profit, that's the way rare items are ya know. Don't dis me, I'll sell it to a forum member for only $200 (plus shipping of course). You snooze, ya lose/ I would have thought the 'pimp' would have snagged it already.
  2. OK, here's my email to customer service under my account's name, the wife supports them quite a bit. I was shopping on your site and found this CD for $159.00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0013AZTR0/ref=sr_1_olp_21?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1232969322&sr=1-21 Your response when questioned by one of our group on the price was this: quote: Thank you for contacting Amazon.com. I understand your concern regarding the price of the item "brothers in arms xrcd." I see that it is available from the sellers. When Amazon.com is out of stock on an item, Amazon Merchants and Marketplace sellers may still have the item available for sale, at a price of their choosing. If an item has become rare or collectible, these sellers may decide on a price that is significantly higher than the former Amazon.com price or the original retail price. End quote I continued to shop at other sites and found it here http://www.musicdirect.com/product/75458 ,in stock for let's just say 'significantly less'; roughly on the order of 400% less. This is not a collector's item. I have enjoyed shopping with Amazon and although at times the price is a little higher, I was comforted by your name and standards. I see I can no longer trust this brand. Thank you for your time, account name here
  3. Perhaps I should clue these folks in, they are losing a ton of money. Maybe we'll get a cut. http://www.musicdirect.com/product/75458
  4. Mark's got it on the bench and did indeed find a hum (I think I'm relieved). His initial thought is either bad cap or broken solder joint. At least I know (hope) that it's not a setup issue so all should be good a week or so. Oh, and as a testiment to the forum member (Robert) that sold it to me, Mark added these words: . "Overall, your unit though looks brand new. It is the best looking old Peach I've seen yet. "
  5. To heck with it, I'm buying! BTW Chris, here's a link to the XRCD you listened to at my place http://www.amazon.com/Give-Love-XRCD-Mighty-McClain/dp/B00004STMY
  6. Interesting ?If the creek don't rise my speakers will be starting their cross country trip from GA to OR tomorrow and Josh will have the Choruii/Academy. I'll think we should have bought stock in the shipping company before I took them there.
  7. OH, you said tab benoit I thought you would be looking at the TONY BENNETT I saw on my page!
  8. Yea, I know XRCDs are around 30-35 bucks but what's up with this? http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0013AZTR0/ref=sr_1_olp_21?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1232969322&sr=1-21
  9. We need to talk about the 6H30 Peach mod and the Jolida mod as well, My Peach is in Mark's hands now. Come over to the west side, help a poor boy out here!
  10. Cost wise it looks like either Nitty 1/1.5 or VPI 16.5. I just can't see jumping up several hundred.
  11. Based on your experience would you select 1.5 or 1.5 FI? As I understand it the only difference is manual vs automatic fluid application. Pros ? Cons? I edited this to correct spelling and was seeing an input for the VPI 16.5. Can we get a comparison?
  12. Edited: newbie to RCM questions posted There has been several posts around here and there concerning LP cleaners. What do I want? I want a cleaner that a) doesn't cost a fortune, is motorized (I think unless someone can tell me not), c) either has self contained vacuum or can be incorporated (with suction relief) into my whole house vacuum. Use? clean a couple of hundred albums and then periodic maintenance of them.
  13. I was 19 years old before I ever saw a pizza. I do Pizza Hut only as I know wherever I go in the world it's pretty much the same. Flame me now!
  14. Welcome. First, it makes a huge improvement having matching LRC. In my opinion the rear/sides not so much. Three Forte IIs would be outstanding. I used Chorus IIs/Academy/Quartets for years before I stumbled across my current Belles. Do all you can to match up the front 3, you'll love it. Where are you located? If around Atlanta, you can hear the setup. (See the sig line for what I'm asking for a reference point. Academies are getting cheaper this days (like everything else, now's the time if you got the bucks prices are a lot lower than they were a year ago) See photo for size references ChorusIIs/Forte IIs/Quartets/Academy over TV
  15. Same here with auto switching to DD/DTS. No particular reason, I do 2 channel with the McIntosh. When I had to use the Denon for 2 channel I use the Discreet stereo and everything in the unit (lights, processing, etc) is OFF.
  16. FWIW, I set my 4306 with a ratshack SPL at 85db. Last week I had the back door open to the lake enjoying some tunes outside. One of the neighbors came over and asked 'just how load does that thing go?'. I fired up the analyzer and stopped when I reached 120db. Calibrated to that end, who knows but it was loud. My receiver has seen the plus side a couple of times. just be wary of any clipping or distortion.
  17. A little more hinge work on the "Vs" and it's done. Thanks again all that helped.
  18. If I get this right. you have had them for 'a coupla hours' and there are no pictures yet? Dude, what's up with that? I just wish I could get my son off the XBox so I could listen to sumthin' [:@]
  19. AHHH, noiseless. On one hand I want it to be a tube problem (I know jack about them) on the other hand I want it to be a unit problem because I tried what I know and if it's a tube then well, I know jack about them. Heck let's just get me a preamp back, installed without noise, an LP playing on my Pro_Ject/Tercel/Peach/McIntosh/Belle and a Makers Mark in my hand. CHEERS!
  20. I hope to get the chance to remove all, re-arrange and dress wiring this weekend...right, still painting and flooring; YES DEAR, I'm coming. Mark, let me know what you hear when you plug it in.
  21. Is he still in business? yes they are and the equipment was in stock at the time!
  22. Welcome, good luck with it all. I will echo the comments about Denon. I have a AVR4306 and love it. I bought it a while back so it is a little lacking in the new HD sound decoding but since there is little media that outputs that I am ok and use the 7.1 analog input when I need it. Btw there was a Denon 4806 for sale on this forum a few days ago. I thought it to be a good deal. IIRC they were asking 1200. I have noit heard any of the new Reference stuff other than my RS-7 suurounds, just make dang sure the 3 across the front match well. If you happen to be in the Georgia area come by and listen to my Denon/Klipsch. Again, welcome. Mike Commercial begins:Shameless plug, Chorus IIs fronts/Quartet rears and Academy center 5.0 set for sell here just get a sub, you're set. Used them with my 4306 for a few years. Commerical over!
  23. 5 y.o. 62" DLP here sitting at about 12-13'. My only complaint is the cable card fan noise (runs even when TV is off). They need a way to disable if you don't use cable card. I might have to 'snip it'. Bulbs are about 150 if you buy them with cartridge. I am on my 3rd bulb counting original., they never failed just reached the hour marker and the lamp change advisory came on.
