  4. Hi, In my new home i will have no place for the klipschorn bass, so i decided to builed another enclosure with the K33E. I think the best for me is the cornwall. That's my question: can anybody tell me the volume ( inner dimension) of the cabinet and the dimensions oft the vents(s). Thanks Dieter ------------------ Bass: Klipschorn MidsHighs: TAD 4001 + 22" Horn SuperHigh: Fostex T925 X : active (Pioneer D-23) Pre : AVM V1 Amp : AudioValve PPP 30 : Rotel RB 956 : Quad 303 CD : Marantz CD 73

  9. Hi 12ax7! It was a long way to this combination with the Fostex: in 1980 I built first the LaScala with with the K33E and a copy of the k400 and the EV T35 (a diy-set from the Swiss ACR), but the bass was not deep enough for me. The result: building the K-horns. I've got the plans from a guy, who had destroyed a Klipschorn to get the right plan. In 1992 I bought a used LaScala (Original) for cheap price and put these drivers and crossovers in my K-Horn. It sounds good, but I never was satisfied about the mids/highs. Then I read about the ALK-Xover and bought them. It was a very good improvement and Al made a good job, but some month later I've heard the Fostex combination and was surprised of the sound of these speakers ("that's it!"). I rememberd me, that ACR sold in the 80s a "State of the Art"-Model of the K-Horn with Fostex-Components. But how to get the horns and drivers. ACR does not made the importor for the Fostexs anymore, and these Fostex drivers were not in production by Fostex. I#ve tried to get them used, and there was a way to get them: EBAY. My first Fostex wooden horn was the H325 with the D450 and the T825 with the ALK Xover. Really good. Then I've got the H220 with D221: better!! Then the T925: better, but the ALK doesn't match this Combi. I've got the Pioneer D-23: very good!! Then D586, that's it!! Now I'm triing the H425 with FD600, because there is a little lack between 5000 and 7000Hz ( The T925 sound really good from 7000 Hz). My next try is a JBL 2402, I will try it for the H425+FD600 , the T925 will be a supertweeter from 12000Hz. It is very difficult to discribe the sound, because I havent the right english words, but it sounds better for ME than the Klipsch Mids/highs. If I get JBL 2440/1 I will try them too, but they are very expensive and very rare in Germany, perhaps I will get them for a reasonable price. That's the story! It will never ends! ------------------ Bass: Klipschorn Mids: Fostex H220 + Fostex D586 MidsHigh: Fostex H425 + Fostex FD600 High: Fostex T925 X : active (Pioneer D-23) Pre : AVM V1 Amp : AudioValve PPP 30 : Rotel RB 956 : Quad 303 CD : Marantz CD 73

  13. Hello Frans, I like the Rotel, i think it's a good preamp for the money. Yes, it has XLR-output and 2 cinch-outputs. 14. Hello Shock-Late! Al had sent a pair of crossovers to me in germany. Sure, you have to pay the shippingcosts, but also you must pay some taxes: custom tax and "Mehrwertsteuer" (i don't know the word in English or French). I've paid about 65$ for the taxes in Germany and the custom procedure. I hope, this will help. regards, Dieter ------------------ Bass: Klipschorn Mids: Fostex H220 + Fostex D221 High: Fostex T825 X : ALK Pre : Rotel RC 995 Amp : AudioValve PPP 30 CD : NAD 520 Cine: Yamaha DSP E 1000 Cent: LaScala Rear: DIY EV

  18. Hey Pete! I have not the original Klipschorn, it is DIY. The H325 is lying on the top of the basscabinet. On EBAY is such a horn with a bigger horn and another tweeter. http://cgi.ebay.de/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1239136991 regards Dieter
  19. Hey! I've got the Fostex H325 with D450 and the T825 Slot-Tweeter. The ALK crossover lets match the D450 to the bass, it's a very good thing. I'm very satisfied. It is very difficult for me to describe the sound in English. I like the sound and i'm very happy. The costs for the units are about 380 $ (used in good condition). Why not TAD? Too expensive (not available used in Germany)! Why not JBL? More expensive then Fostex and hard to get used too in Germany. And I think they are equal to the JBL's. Dieter
  20. Hey Klipsch-Lovers! There is a pair of Heresys on Ebay (Germany). http://cgi.ebay.de/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1237942728 Good Luck Dieter
  21. Hello sunnysal & James! I think, that the point. In my room (4m x 7m) I have no problem with the bass, it is powerful, very dry, so I like it. But the mids & highs. Next week I get the Fostex speakers and horns. Regard Dieter
  22. Hi guys, i have a K-Horn with K33E, k55V, K400, K77M & ALK xover. I think this is a very good speaker. The ALK is a very, very good improvement for the Horn. But i thing the real very good thing is the bass-section. The mids & highs are not so very good. Many of us try to tweak these sections with dynamat the horns, change xovers and so on. My opinion is, that PWK makes a good job in the bass (it's the best bass i've ever heard), but the mids & highs are a compromise (the speakers are relative cheap, but PWK made the best out of them). I think, the best way to make a real good speaker, is to change the mids & high ( the total tweak). Last week i have heared a Horn with the original bass-section, a Fostex D450 mid-driver, a Fostex H325 wooden horn and a Fostex T825 slot-tweeter. It was impressive: Absolut no harshness in the mids&highs, a very smooth reproduction (Sorry, but i don't know all the english words for this sound.) And last but not least the Fostex look very fine. My question: Does anybody know these combination? What do you think of these tweaks? With regards Dieter
  23. Hi, guy landau! I've tried the EV ST350A in the klipschorn. In my opinion it is an improvment, but.... It is more efficient (107db 1w/m). The orginal T77M is about 104db 1w/m. I think the T350 is about 107 db too. That's too loud, and you have to change the x-over. Regards Dieter
