  1. Email and payment sent. Thanks once again, can't wait for them to get here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Paul
  2. OK THEN... MY WIFE IS STANDING NEXT TO ME RIGHT NOW: AND SHE QUOTES: GOOD PRICE, THAT'S WHAT A COUPLE OF CUTE OUTFITS COST, AND IF THEY SOUND LIKE CR@P, THEN YOU CAN JUST SELL THEM... MAN, DID MARRY REALLY WELL OR WHAT? SHE'S ALSO REALLY HOT, BRILLIANT, SEXXY, SMART, CUTE, NICE, AND HAS MASSIVE AMTS OF WAF TOLERANCE... LIFE IS GOOD. SO, LET ME KNOW HOW I NEED TO PAY YOU. THANKS, PAUL
  3. Those threads discussed the many things that sometimes have to be changed or updated in the amps. Are they referring to the vintage amps that need so much work. I am not really up to trying to mod out the amps. Are your amps newer, I assume. So would they not need all of the changes mentioned in the above noted thread? Are they fairly easy to bias? Is there much else that would need to be done to them on a regular basis? Thanks again, Paul
  4. The Macs at Hope were the MC 30's monos. So, are these amps (here comes the novice type ?'s): push pull. They are not SET's, correct.? Will they power the Khorns to adeq loudness. I don't like to listen as loud as we often listened in Hope, but I do like to crank it up sometimes. I would be using my MX 134 Mac as the pre for now. Would then get tubed preamp in the future. So, any ideas, Thanks, Paul
  5. VERY NICE. HOW WOULD THIS SOUND DIFFER FROM THE SOUND OF THE MAC'S THAT WERE HOOKED UP TO MY KHORN'S IN HOPE? WOULD THERE BE MUCH IN THE WAY OF A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY ARE SIMILAR IN CHARACTER TO THOSE, I AM VERY INTERESTED IN THEM. LET ME KNOW, THANKS, PAUL
  6. I just got in my McIntosh MX 134. Plugged it all in last night. Sound is wonderful. Alas, it doesn't have HDMI on it. But my HDTV came out just before HDMI anyway. My picture looks great to me on component video for now. I too am going to wait for the PS3, which will have Blue Ray on it. And, they say that down the line the 360 can be modded to be able to support HD DVD. I will try them for the video signal and see. Of course, my tv won't ye support it anyway. Getting tired of being a brand new adapter only to have my gear be outdone, for less money, in 6 months or so. So, for now, i'm gonna sit back and enjoy my first Mac experience and keep watchin with the component inputs for now. Currently content and tired of the continuously changing format and input battle, Paul
  7. HEY BEC: TAKE A LOOK AT MY AVATAR. THAT'S MY 2 OLDEST BOYS AT HOPE. THAT HANDSOME CRITTER STANDIN BEHIND THEM IS YOU... YOU GUYS WERE BUSY PUTTING IN THE CROSSOVERS IN MY KHORNS. PAUL
  8. The same guy has been listing things under McIntosh for some time now also. It is always the same price 399.99 for 10k amps and such. I have been reporting it to ebay the same way as mentioned above. They do get taken off pretty quick after that. I did it yesterday to him. They took it off. In 15 mins he had more of the same stuff up under a different ebay name. He's pretty quick at it! So, why don't we all try to send the report messages to ebay and beat him back a little. Would be nice to get a Mac amp for 400 bucks though... Paul
  9. I have asked this in the past, no one seemed to know of one, but, here goes again: Is there a tube preamp with a remote (with at least a volume control), prephono for my TT, and a home theater bypass avail? It seems like the Peach has the HT bypass, but nothing for the phone, and the BlueBerry is set up for phone, but no HT bypass. Apparently they are about to be able to have a remote. Vintage gear is great, but no remote. I am continuously having to adjust the volume when the phone rings, the kids, or my wife need something. Totally is a bummer to have to get my rear end up off the couch 2-3 times per song. I know, I am lazy.... So, any ideas? Paul
  10. Lovin the big ole covers on em. Little bit cooler than the small "fliers" they put in with the cd's. Most of the cd stuff I end up chunkin and just put the cd's into storage jackets. Thanks once again. My son, who has his Heresy's on the way, is also very excited about the prospect of getting a TT in the near future. I will be contacting you once again to see about that. It sounds like you may have one that would fit the bill. Thanks again for your free vinyl. PS, this guy wouldn't even accept any help with the shipping. Paul.
  11. SO, how about a tube preamp that has a remote control, a HT bypass, and a phono stage. Any such animal exist. I suppose you could take a Peach and then get a separate outboard phonopream? Any ideas on that combo? Paul
  12. Scott, The albums arrived yesterday in perfect condition. Spent about 3 hours last pm listening to them. I grew up initially listening to the radio and cassettes. No one really had any decent TT's. CD's came out and were obviously superior to the ole tapes. Got involved with the pursuit of higher audio standards, my wife got me my Thorens TT for Christmas.... WOW, the vinyl sounds so warm and wonderful on my Khorns. There are not any stores that have vinyl here, other than Goodwill, which occas has one that looks like it was not used in Frisbee golf. The ones you sent are perfect in sight and sound. Thank you so much for you gift, me and my family so appreciate it. Now, if I can find me some tubes to warm em up even more.... Thanks again, Paul
  13. It looks like ebay has removed his auctions off of the web. He will prob. just put some new ones right back up. Like someone else said, seems like he could make some good money if he just worked legit.
  14. Do those ebay users know that their accts are being used? Does it help to report it to ebay, or are they already doing all that they can do at this point. How would you be able to send him email "junk" without him being able to send us a bunch of stuff back our way, slowing down our systems?
  15. His ebay name is: elaine04purple I will check it again tomorrow to see if it is different. He has 33 current items. Same exact items as yesterday, only fewer. Check under McIntosh, seems to always have a lot of stuff there.
  16. There is some dude on ebay right now that is selling mcintosh gear at unreasonably low prices. He was on there yesterday, and i swear that he had a different name then. Today the email is: andrew2133@hotmail.com He says that he is in London. I thought that yesterday he had a ton of feedback from German customers. He wants people to contact him directly thru email... Another thing that has been happening to me recently. I put bids on several pieces of McIntosh gear at low prices. Hoping that one would sell for good price. The bidding would end, much higher than the bid I placed. I then got several second chance offers from screens that did look exactly like ebay screens. They did not ask for password, but the email sites looked wrong. I sent message to the original seller, and he confirmed that the original sale was valid and there was no second chance offer. The original dorks that sent the second chance offer wanted me to send a money order to some address in california to some yahoo who was to be the intermediary, keep money until the goods were delivered. Gets pretty frusterating with all of this. I have had some great deals on ebay with honest people. I don't exactly have any stores around here that handle all of the good and used gear. Must remain carefull though. Paul
  17. Nah, he didn't dump on Fini's daughters. He's just not allowed on MySpace. Too many documentaries out there about perv's that troll My Space. With a doctor for a dad and an attorney for a mom, we pretty much keep the paranoia level turned up pretty high around there. Of course, while we were in Hope, my 6 y/o asked me about how wise it was to meet with a bunch of people that I met online.... Hmmmm, well, we may be audionerds, but don't seem to be any pervs around. But still, we try to keep the kids as safe as is possible... The overly protective and mildly paranoid dad, Paul
  18. Yo Dude, welcome to the forum. [*] Like they said before, watch out for playing them too loud. I bet your mom will help you out with the volume control. [:-*] And, your dad must indeed be the coolest dad in the world!!![H] I bet he is also the mostest handsome, brilliant, wise, never wrong, kind, compassionate, etc. !!!!!! [] Of course I happen to know that he thinks you are awfully handsome, brilliant, mostly wise, and only occasionally wrong. I know he is proud of you.[] Also, since your dad is so incredibly cool, you may want to consider taking up a collection in order to get him some tubes. He is probably wanting some after hearing the wonderful tubes on the Khorns up in Hope. [] He probably wouldn't mind if you guys also found it in your heart to upgrade the CD and DVD player. He seems to have a good turntable. I know you would also like a cool turntable in the future. It is important to keep the interest and love of vinyl going for your generation. So, just remember, since your dad is so very cool, remember to always mind him and cont. to be interested in all things audio for the years to come. I Love You Man!!!![] DAD.
  19. I must have the same tv as you do. I too have dvd, hidef cable, and xbox 360. Currently, I am using my reciever, a Yamaha, as essentially the switcher. I go into the Yammy with the xbox 360 and cable and out thru the component video to the DTV input, or the one that will do 1080i. I use the various input controls on the Yamaha to decide which of these will be sent to the tv. These are my 2 components that will go up to the hi def signal. I then take my dvd out thru component to either the Component 1 or 2 input on the tv. This will only do the 480, but that's what the dvd put out. We apparently were the early adopters and alas, our Mitsus do not have a dvi or hdmi input.... My current issue is now this. My pre/pro, currently the yamaha, soon to be a McIntosh MX134, only have 2 sets of component inputs. If I ever want to have another hi def component, I have run out of inputs on the tv and the pre/pro. It could go into the other 480 component input on the back of the tv, but this would not give the best image. I have seen some switcher type devices at best buy that seem to be primarily for use with multiple gaming systems, ie: xbox, 360, playstation, etc. However, they look really cheaply made and I can only imagine that they would degrade the ultimate signal to a degree. I too wonder if there is a better type of switching device that could be used that only introduces a minimal amt of distortion or other probs with the video signal. Good luck, Paul
  20. I was at RS recently, and they had the Monster Cable THX optical and coaxial wires on sale down from 79 to $9. I grabbed them, like I need one more cable. I hooked them in, I want them to sound better, not sure I could tell a difference, but they look cool and sure were cheap...
  21. PM SENT, LET ME KNOW MORE INFO, I WOULD LOVE THEM. THANKS, PAUL
  22. One more thing. I keep reading that they are thinking about changing up the HDMI cable to a slightly different one. The powers that be are always so hyper about pirating etc. It's not certain that the current HDMI is the one that will be used in the long run. As I mentioned recently on a prev. thread, I am tired of the earliest of adopters and will prob wait until the dust settles before upgrading video equipment again. I believe though that the DVI will remain unchanged. There are plenty of adapters that can be used to hook up between DVI AND HDMI. The only slight downside to DVI is that it doesn't carry sound, but that does not really matter too much. If you are doing surround for the HT application, you simply bring the DVI cable out of the dvd or whatever, and go directly into the tv. You can then bring the audio to the reciever or pre/pro via an optic cable or a coaxial. The sound will be just as good as if it had been brought over using the HDMI, the HDMI just saves you from having to hook up one more cord, but I have a pretty good feeling that people like us have more than enough cables around...
  23. The DVI input is a visual only input. The HDMI will carry both video and audio. The selling point on it is that one cable can be used to bring a reciever both the audio and video. Several sources can be brought into the reciever, ie: DVD, CABLE, etc. Then one cable can be brought to the tv. The picture quality between the HDMI and the DVI is going to be pretty much the same, as they are both digital. The component is an analog signal, and is therefore somewhat limited on what it can bring to the tv. For example, the newest of the HDTV's are capable of producing 1080p. Only the DVI/HDMI cables can bring that much info over to the tv. Of course, you have to have a source that is capable of producing that level of an output. Currently, that would be an HD DVD, HD cable, or HD off of the internet thru a computer and streamed over to the tv. Interestingly enough, almost none of the newest of the tv's can accept 1080p, but rather 1080i, they then internally convert the signal. Hewlett Packard sells a couple of models that will actually accept the 1080p input directly, but, once again, there are only a few sources that can even prod. that level of signal. In the real world, the component video inputs are going to be fairly similar to the DVI/HDMI, unless you have a dvd player that upconverts the signal to 480p rather than the usual 480i. This will give you an improved picture to some extent. In conclusion (finally). If I had a tv that would accept DVI OR HDMI I would use that over the component. The traditional ranking is: DIGITAL (HDMI OR DVI), THEN COMPONENT, THEN S VIDEO, THEN COMPOSITE ( the little single yellow wire - essentially an rca cable.) Paul
  24. My understanding is that if you use the DVI input, you can get a player that can upscale the picture to a better quality than is possible with the component connection. I think it may give you a slightly better picture.
