  1. i went back to the place that gave me a mild bout of food poisoning last Saturday … NO FEAR. (well, a little fear -- i ordered something different).
  2. I do not own any Springsteen. Heard a funny interview on NPR with his drummer. Says Bruce likes to ad lib a lot during shows and many songs start with the drums. Occasionally, in mid-set, Bruce will nod or start a count, and he has no idea which song Bruce wants to do.
  3. Fish--you’re one of the few that i encounter that are familiar with the Captain. Quite the poet -- scares me a little that i actually understand a lot of this one … can really mess with your mind trying to figure it out -- you just gotta listen and it becomes clear…about the 81st time. Dtel will grasp this … he’s a moderator.
  4. well it’ll have to be in person -- out of respect, not things i’d want to share on a public forum. You know, once upon a time, Ry Cooder played in his band.
  5. Thanks -- i suspect there is another one or two sometime down the road. This one due in April is my youngest’s first child--maybe she’ll want more. You know not a single one of them took my suggestion for a name. Every time I’ve offered up the name Supervisor O’Boyle (for the record…our family name is not O’Boyle). I tell my kids, “That’s a name that commands respect--imagine at school, their teacher will have to call them Supervisor.” As usual, my kids don’t listen to me--I don’t know why. But they know their rock-n-roll.
  6. Man could I tell you a few stories … and you guys thought I was crazy. Last time i saw him was at a 7-11 convenience store--he was a lover of ice cream and was buying an ice cream. He was preparing to leave town and move up North--which he did. i never saw him again.
  7. Hey Coffee Folks … Grandchild number 8 arrived this afternoon. Number 9 is due in April. I told my kids to STOP ALREADY…Thank God that everything went fine--but have been up since 3 something this morning. i did have two cups of coffee this morning--from a local eatery.
  8. Logic tells me that the Pats must have felt that 2 psi gave them enough competitive advantage to take the risk.
  9. Ho Ho Ho Hi Hi Hi Upon the My Oh MY.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq6fCOGyVJg I got my one and only ticket in Dallas...1985...on 635 getting on Central xway North. I was doin 9 over the limit and being overrun, I ask why me? He said I was the easiest to get too, it got thrown out. i liked the Old Grey Whistle Test.
  10. Nicely said Jim. You’re right too--i could always look down to the bottom of the screen showing who was online and nearly always see BOXX. I’ve seen a lot of death in my day--so much so that you’d think it would get easier; but, it’s getting harder actually. Change is coming harder now-a-days, so i really miss talking to him. Plus, Boxx was the only one on this forum that I actually liked. Just joking of course. (if he were still here he’d give me a right about now). Actually, I’ve made some friends on this forum.
  11. I use to hang out at this rock band’s house…the drummer once played with Richie Blackmore. He was good; but, the rest of the gang treated him bad because he was always so doped up. One night the band was playing in the garage and i told the drummer that I’d turn out the lights and flip on a stobe light and he could bust into a mad drum solo. He agreed. I did my part and he did his. Soon the lights were back on. I turned to comment to the person standing next to me and it was a Los Angeles County Sheriff. He said, “Personally, I liked it; but, your neighbors don’t.” Turns out the lead singer didn’t like it either. Drummer introduced me to a guy named Captain Beefheart … what a trip that dude was. I could listen to his stories all night. He partied at my brother’s house. He actually made a music video probably 10 years before MTV. Sadly, the Captain died a few years ago. Captain, Zappa, and I all lived in the same town once upon a time--but, they were older than me. Rolling Stone had his album Trout Mask Replica as Number 60 on their top 500 LPs of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzk6lTjL_dQ
  12. of course this thread is specifically about speeding tickets … so i won’t mention my carpool lane violation ticket, running a stop sign ticket, passing a school bus ticket (that one was BS--the bus didn’t have it’s lights on when me and three other cars passed it), the ticket for not having lights on the roll bar covered ...
  13. actually, he was going the opposite way and flipped a U-turn to come after me. I wonder if it was the music? The harder the rock, the faster I seem to drive.
  14. Nothing like being stuck on the can at 1:30 in the morning … except at 3:30 am … and 5:30 am ...
  15. My Dad was a cop and while learning to drive he told me that if a person couldn’t spot a cop in time to correct whatever they were doing wrong, then they deserved a ticket. We could see a dot on the horizon and he’d tell us that was a cop -- and it was. i had immunity in our hometown, they’d just tell me to slow down, then tell my Dad.
  16. last time i got pulled over the cop asked me if there was any reason that i had to be doing 93 mph. in my defense, it was on interstate 5 and that’s practically the autobahn.
  17. Ok so where did you eat to break up the del taco routine, should have known the switch would cause a problem. got a salad from a regular old restaurant actually. had them a million times from this place; but, this time it got its revenge.
  18. recovering from a mild bout of food poisoning (saturday). Stomach felt okay this morning until i drank a cup of coffee--that wasn’t a good idea (but, i’ll do it again tomorrow morning … because i’m a slow learner).
  19. 1976 Telecaster Thinline Semi-Hollow body was my first guitar. Wish i still had it.
  20. I do have a time machine; but, it’s in the storage closet and i don’t feel like moving stuff out of the way to get to it.
  21. very sorry to hear that. prayers will continue.
  22. that’s interesting -- back in my married days if i stayed too close to the ladies that’s when i got thrown into the fire.
