  1. Let’s go back to the days of a handshake and a man’s word being his bond. Remember the movie The Fighting Sullivans? Right before the guys went off to war, the Dad had them list every cent that they owed people. He was going to take out a second mortgage to pay off their debts. I know it was just a movie; but, it was a real movie.
  2. this is a true story … went to a medical clinic once and was assisted by a lady with the last name of Bullwinkle (at least that is what her name tag said and the name put on the report). Too bad she didn’t marry your friend.
  3. pushing ketchup...i forgot about that … another reason to love Mr. Leghorn thanks for posting that.
  4. Foghorn is in my Top Three … with Tennessee Tuxedo (you know Tennessee Tuxedo will never fail, don’t you) and my favorite good ole Bullwinkle. He was quite the character back at Whattsamatta U
  5. You are spot on … i would suggest that we accept the possibility that she could be speaking out of emotion and after the shock wears off, she may feel embarrassed about things that she’s said. Crisis are a difficult time to determine a person’s character. While some rise to the top and we marvel at it, others struggle to keep their heads above the proverbial water. Don’t know about you; but, i’ve lashed out at people during an emotional time and had to return, hanging my head in shame, and asking forgiveness for what i had previously said. Thank God, i hold my tongue more often now and i try to stop and think about what the other person is enduring before i form my opinion. Some times, people end up being selfish jerks after all. i hope that isn’t the case here.
  6. I say, I say, I say I like Foghorn Leghorn.
  7. Sweetest smell i know. I practically have a ketchup IV.
  8. I really did it. Did you feel some cool vibes coming from the west? Hey--i just quoted myself…twice. Does that make me wise or redundant?
  9. I really did it. Did you feel some cool vibes coming from the west?
  10. I've always thought that you enlightened each threat that you posted in and gave it an "air" of respectability.... I thought we were cool--why would you go calling my thoughts respectable? I do thank you kind sir. Since my pancreas has insisted that I no longer consume alcohol--I will tip this bottle of Vitamin Water Zero in your honor.
  11. i always thought i was a thread killer.
  12. First of all, congratulations. Oldtimer … lay off the Brits (i actually wouldn’t be upset if i was one). Pretty cool things come out of England…Queen, Pink Floyd, Yes, some very attractive women too; and there are even Raider fans there. I was told that two weeks ago, you couldn’t find things pertaining to the Miami Dolphins; but, there was Oakland Raiders stuff all over. So we’re obviously talking about a pretty smart country.
  13. Cut back on an addition, I haven't go time to cut back on my addiction.... Boxx--since i lost one of my lungs, i’ve cut my smoking in half.
  14. I get you, and i can see how that interaction could raise suspicion. That poster’s wording is mimicking the opening line commonly thought to be spoken by an alcoholic--so there is naturally the comparison of audio/alcohol. Not suggesting that the poster intended to make light of an addiction; but, it is totally reasonable to wonder if that person had any idea what it was like to be in the grips of a destructive compulsion. Times like that when you say to yourself, “if they only knew…”
  15. Was his first name Mel? Sorry but keep trying.
  16. i wonder what the sales were when in production? Was it beloved at that time or not until they became "hard to get?"
  17. ah, the great paradox ... why they won't reissue the most beloved speaker.. I've been asking that question for years. Perhaps Klipsch Corporate are former Entertainers and prefer to leave us wanting more?
  18. I had a co-worker with the last name of Renfro ... any relation you think?
  19. i have referred to my guitar collection as an addiction and, while i take full responsibility, I first heard that phrase (in this sense) on this forum from hearing about a "speaker addiction". Having habitual drug use in my past (been clean for years and will stay that way) and having seen it destroy lives -- and also, having not survived unscathed myself (did cause some permanent damage to my health), i have joked about it (because i joke about most everything). I have failed to consider that some carry the scars closer to their heart--and should my insensitivity referring to having a "guitar addiction" made you uncomfortable--i sincerely apologize. Sometimes being a joker isn't funny. - Steve -
  20. By the way ... I had a burrito and fries for lunch. ( the ... entered in memory of OldBuckster)
  21. What was Duncan doing driving through the hospital and what was a homeless guy doing in the isolation ward? That's one crazy hospital.
  22. well there's the answer right there. giving an experimental drug to a citizen of another country is sketchy ... since it's experimental.
  23. Congratulations and best wishes. I don’t each much meat and actually never miss it. Could go the rest of my life without it and be perfectly happy.
  24. is that why he wears a hat?
  25. sounds like quite a tough period of time. glad you and your house were spared. yeah, i heard that the Army Corps of Engineers had said been saying those levees were weak for years … in fact they said on the radio that the past four presidential administrations had been warned about them. I guess a person just adapts or endures during a crisis like that. Hopefully you don’t have to endure it again.
