  1. shameful that i don’t remember what time of year this happened … early summer wasn’t it … June? imagine no ATM machines either? How did you store your food for so long? All we get are earthquakes and fires around here … and we haven’t had a major quake in a long while. If more than two drops of rain fall within a 24-hour period, we go on “Storm Watch.” The Southern California weather media are so embarrassing.
  2. Heresys’ have excellent top end … like many have said, i’d recommend a sub if you’re in it for home theatre. I have both H1s and H2s … currently using Cornwalls though.

I do … closer (in miles) to the Ducks though.

When i was transferred to Michigan, my co-workers were rabid hockey fans. They asked me if i watched hockey. I said, “No. I generally just watch sports.” They were ready to send me packing. They actually dragged me to an IHL game. Best part of the game was during one of the breaks, Ethyl the Dynamite Lady climbed into a box and blew the box up. They told me it was planned; but, I think she did it because she bored.

    I’m a California Boy … what’s the NHL?
  6. hmmm, would a vampire drink plant blood?
  7. better use a chain … i’ll chew through the rope.
  8. Oldtimer, tell your friends it’s safe now … i don’t think the government will blow up the levees again anytime soon Heard a guy on the radio telling about how this other guy saw govt people planting dynamite … the host asks him if the guy told him that and the guy replied “no, he died when they blew up.” I guess he managed to tell his story first. Elden … did you experience storm damage or just the mass hysteria afterwards? I imagine things got really dicey in some places.
  9. Great looking dog. The size is intimidating to a stranger and i imagine the bark is proportional to its size. I was always a fan of the larger dogs … had a St. Bernard once … wind was blowing smoke from the neighbors chimney directly into our yard. The dog went crazy alerting me…when i went outside he ran around the house to where the smoke was. Once i acknowledged him, he stopped barking. My next dog will be a bull mastiff--since chances are that i’ll be deaf someday (already lost 75% of my hearing) a bull mastiff trained as a hearing service animal would be ideal. Looked it up on the internet and didn’t see any such dogs as service animals though.
  10. You bring up a very good point … Chuck, you’d better not mention the Klipsch Forum to any of your lady friends … if they stumbled upon this thread, they might unite and you’d become the movie of the week.
  11. Feeling a bit rowdy tonight my friend? I hear what you’re saying. Take a deep breath and read a good poem ”the autumn wind is a Raider."
  12. This was one of the first words that caught my attention … you know me, standing ready to defend my beloved Ketchup from the Catsup people, don’t you know.
  13. I wonder if this is the place i saw on tv. I watched a show on the Food Network and one of their celebrity chefs visited a place like this … he said the fake stuff actually tasted very similar to the real stuff.
  14. Always loved those dogs … how are they are?
  15. $3.85 for Premium at the Chevron. Lowest it’s been here in SoCal for a long while.
  16. Not me ... i want to linger for a very long time and be a huge burden … especially to my fellow forum members. I hear if you get 50,000 posts, that the forum-at-large is obligated to care for you for the remainder of your NATURAL life. I’m a long ways off; but, the keep the guest house ready Oldtimer because i’m hitting your pad during football season
  17. True. I know it's hard and i struggle with this considerably because i'm actually a germaphobe (i switch lanes at the grocery store if someone in front of me is buying cold medicine). But fear can ruin our lives too. My brother read a book about G. Gordon Liddy. he had a deathly fear of lightning. he was so disgusted that this fear had started to control him that he had himself tied to a tree during an electrical storm to force himself to face this fear. He said he was either going to conquer the fear or die trying. Sounds like you've done that Elden--good for you. Teach me how!
  18. That may very well be true; but, different people come to different conclusions based on the same information. Why he thought this was a complication to pregnancy vice exposure to ebola--i have no idea. I would suspect her family gave him false information whether intentionally or in ignorance. Much like HIV -- it is said that a large percentage of infected people don't know they're infected. We can say that they've had unprotected sex so that opens the door of possibility; however, many trust their partner and assume the partner's claim that they're "clean." Even with ebola, it can take 12 days to show any symptoms. Was he was told that she wasn't exposed and he believed them? If so,that is probably naive on his part (although i don't know what her symptoms were, heard that she was having a convulsion). Right now, i can say with all the honestly that i have, that i've not been exposed to the ebola virus; however, i have absolutely no idea how many people i've been in contact with over the past 12 days. Nobody appeared deathly ill; but, did a cook at the food joint unbeknownst to me have a fever and after i ate, got sent home with flu-like symptoms??? Possibilities are endless, which makes this so scary. My point is that i'm not willing to say he had some nefarious intent. I will admit that given the outbreak and just the fact that he was helping a sick person, he should have considered the possibility and told the airport folks that he helped someone and was told it was a complication to pregnancy and let them make the determination. That's what i would have done. Regardless, i just don't rejoice at anyone's demise.
  19. co-worker told me of a picture she saw ... somebody at the apartment complex that the guy was staying at, was hosing the sidewalk where the guy had vomited. In the picture, there is a woman, wearing sandals, walking through the water. I wonder what she thought when she saw that picture?
  20. For that statement to be true, you would have to say that he "knew" that he was infected. I don't that has been proven or even suggested (admittedly, i don't follow this case as closely as others). From what i've read, he helped a sick woman to the hospital thinking her illness was pregnancy related. If ebola was in my town, i'd be afraid to touch anyone--sick or not sick; yet, this guy was kind enough to help someone in need. Turns out her illness was not complications from her pregnancy; but, ebola and he paid a heavy price for his kindness. He did more than i could have brought myself to do--carry one of my kids to hospital sure; but, a stranger--that would be very tough (embarrassed to admit). But, to remove the emotion, since he had NO symptoms, how could he "knowing" expose people? How could he know that he was even infected? And when he did start getting sick, he told the hospital that he had been in West Africa. All that can be said is that he knew he had been in an infected locale.
  21. Well, I certainly don't rejoice in anyone's demise regardless of the circumstances. Compassion is a necessity for a meaningful life in my opinion. I've lived far too many years selfishly--putting my own interests first--and i can attest that it eventually leaves you empty in the end. Money, possessions, and pleasure don't fill that void. Why he did what he did is not known to me and i can't fill in the blanks with a "good riddance" attitude, and i doubt that his intent was to ruin your vacation. Someday you're going to want someone to show mercy or compassion towards you. I really don't think cancelling your vacation is in order. An inanimate object doesn't seem a good host for any virus and i seriously doubt it would stay alive for weeks outside of a host. Take your doctor's advice over any media outlet--if anyone lies more than the government, it's the media ... you know, they are a for profit business--they're not looking out for you, they just want readers so they can demand more advertising dollars.
  22. An early October 8th morning blend Iced Tea from the Del Taco. Drinking it irresponsibly of course. Sometimes i don't even use the straw they give me ... sometimes you just have to live crazy.
  23. hey Chuck ... do you make the ladies wear name tags so you don't mix them up? Chuck "oh Diane" Lady "My name is Debbie" Chuck "What day is this?" Lady "Wednesday" Chuck "Crap i thought it was Thursday." All in good fun my friend.
  24. Go GIANTS … although you are the worst base running team in the history of the game. What is this about seven or eight post-season series that they’ve been the underdog? They’re for real…just imagine if Matt Cain was healthy and in the rotation.
