(implying that I don't think it's an issue) At least I haven't noticed any problems with the location of sounds coming from rear center. I don't like the idea of 7.1 because both channels share a lot of the same info which means comb-filtering issues when sitting off-axis. Though I can see it being a worthy compromise when the extra coverage is needed in a wider room or when the listening position is near the back wall. ---------------- I read the same article that I believe sfogg got his information from in Sound & Vision magazine. I thumbed trough the last several issues but couldn't find it. If I remember correctly the situation he is talking about happens behind us because of the shape of the head. It doesn't happen in front of us because of the shape and position of our ears facing forward. I have a 7 channel set up. I never tried the 6 channel route so I can't speak from experience. I like the way my set up sounds, but going from 5.1 to 7.1 wasn't as dramatic as I would have hoped except for some passages on certain 6.1 movies. For high quality DVD Concerts and music videos (Peter Gabriel comes to mind) it also adds to the entertainment value. Just wanted to add another opinion insofar as the upgrade was concerned. Does it make a difference? Yes. Does it make a drastic difference on most material? IMHO, No.
  2. Welcome to the forum I have no experience with inwalls. If they can be "on walls," I can recommend the RS-7's WDST speakers Some don't like to mix and match Klipsch interline products--I am not one of them if the alternitive is to do without. It is also easier to return them (RS-7's) if they don't work out. Good Luck.

Probably had 8 or so dedicated built up rooms like you would build in your house with different themes etc.. ---------------- Congratulations Zamboniman, I really think you are going to enjoy your system. IMO you won't have a problem or regret on ANY of the speakers you purchased for your theater. I just got back from the 2nd of my local Klipsch "Dealers" and my experience wasn't as good as yours Keep us posted on how everything turns out

If yes how much exactly? ---------------- The Premier line at this stage is a rumor, that SHOULD come into fruition, and the only people who know are not talking--Since that's the case, no price has been set. I have no connection to Klipsch except for my participation on this board, so this is only my opinion.

There is no doubt on what you are saying is true. I had a different rebuttal but I see you work for Klipsch. You obviously are more knowledgeable about speaker construction than myself, however I always wonder why a company would market an inferior product when they have proven technology at hand. I realize that this can't be the total case with the KLF-C7 because it won product of the year Award in Audio-video Magazines "Hi-fi Grand prix" competition the year it was introduced. Why didn't Klipsch incorporate those elements you mentioned from the H2 into the Klf-c7 and blow the competition even MORE out of the Water? You guys weren't holding back were you.

The speakers could also make a big difference, though. ---------------- Thanks. That was what I was looking for. I realize the speakers could/would make a difference, but I wanted to make sure I was comparing apples to apples as far as the source material was concerned. I will post my impressions of the speakers involved after I have done my auditioning and research.

By the way, Brian Johnson did a pretty good job of replacing Bon Scott, (Back in Black was the best selling album ever by them) even though I was a huge Bon Scott fan. Also, Paul Rogers (Free, Bad Company) is the new lead for Queen. I always thought he had one of the best voices in rock, but don't know how it will sound with Queen. Could be interesting. ---------------- Paul Rogers singing "Bohemian Rhapsody." I don't think "interesting" would be the word. I am a "Bad Company" fan and have the DVD, "BC in concert--Merchants of Cool," and all I can say is the differnce IMO would be from to . Speaking of I also like AC/DC and have all of their DVD's. Bon Scott died early in his career. As far as vocals are concerned, watching Brian Johnson strain to get out those lyrics like Bon did is somewhat painful for me to watch. Angus Young and his antics are what make AC/DC for me and the sonic quality of Brian's voice isn't that much different than Bon's, IMHO

To the forum: Freddie Mercury dies of aids, they keep the band name and get a new lead singer. Are they still "Queen"? Is this wrong? Michael Hutchence kills himself, they keep the name and get a new lead singer. Why is that any different? ---------------- None taken. I also realized that the band on the show was not the remaining members of INXS. My opinion to your questions. I don't think either is "Wrong." I think the situation of both bands are similar insofar as: 1) Their front men and lead singers wrote (or co-wrote) the majority of their songs. 2) Both bands have longevity, chemistry, and success with the members of their bands. 3) The persona of both individuals as well as their vocals were an important factor in their popularity, and creative spirit of the bands (C'mon--will there EVER be another Freddie Mercury). 4) However they died, and given the ages of the remaining band members, it's hard to imagine both groups, IMHO as either 'INXS" or "Queen'" without their front man. There will always be a caveat to the questions "What do you think of Queen?" or "What do you think of INXS?" At the very least I could say (not having heard the new singer candidates for INXS, but hearing some very good vocalist with Queen), They may be good, but you should have heard them with.... I guess the easiest way to equate both situations is with the "Widow" analogy and the spouse has died. Both of these individuals were men. It doesn't mean that the talented, remaining members of the bands can't form another group. In fact I would encourage them to do so. Just as it wouldn't be "wrong" for the widowed wife to sleep around after her husband has died; However if she chooses to remarry she shouldn't keep her dead husband's name. I realize that there are differences in the situations and more likely than not they are keeping the name for financial reasons. I understand that from the bands point of view--But my Rock and Roll soul has issues with that decision. Both bands have every right to do what they are doing. IMO, I would rather see them touring with different vocalist on a regular basis and being introduced as "INXS (or Queen) with guest vocalist (fill in the blank)."
  9. The Price of a ticket I charge my friends to watch a movie at my house is either a 6 pack of Belhaven Scottish Ale or a nice bottle of Riesling that my wife can enjoy. It's actually quite cheap because I provide the popcorn. BTW: No cell phones allowed and the only talking is done by the proprietor during bathroom breaks. Having a nice Klipsch HT has hurt theater sales in my neck of the woods.
  10. I wish I would have used a catchier title for this thread The exact disk involved was the DTS specialty disk playing a cut from "Chicago," compared to the same scene on the DTS version of the DVD movie. It was when the 2 female lead vocals sang together. I was auditioning speakers and the salesperson pointed out how you could hear the separation of the 2 voices. When I got home I played the same scene and could barely hear the individual separation of the two, but not as clearly as on the speakers he was having me audition. In both situations the DVD player was the Denon DVD 3910 and THX ultra II Denon receivers.
  11. Congratulations on 2 years Woodog. I enjoyed your commentary on the deleted "Unitarian Jihad," Thread, as well as meeting you at the Pilgrimage.
  12. I heard Queen has a new lead singer...How weird is that! Not angry mind you--Just bewildered.
  13. Right now I am I am watching the DVD "The Best of INXS* I'm Only Looking." It's a 2 disk dvd with DTS sound track of their videos, and then some. I highly recommend it. Out of respect for Michael Hutchins as well my personal feelings for the essence of Rock & Roll, I can't watch "Pop Star." However good the band is on that TV show (from what I've heard), It's NOT INXS anymore than The Rolling Stones would be without Mick Jagger (IMHO, of course) !!!
  14. Thanks for your response toddvj. Let me ask it another way. Would the same cut from a movie on the DTS Demo disk, that may have a higher bit rate compared to the full length DVD of the same title, have better sound quality, if being played on a Denon DVD 3910?

  17. Over the years I have witnessed several Home Theater demos, with the person putting on the demonstration using either the Dolby or DTS "Specialty" disks that use movie cuts. Are these disks mastered or mixed different from the same scenes we get on the mass produced full length movie DVD's? The reason I am asking is that I like bringing my own media to audition products. Yesterday the salesperson threw me a curve by having me hear a cut on one of these disks (of a movie which I didn't bring) and having me listen to a certain element of the scene. When I got home I put on the full length DVD and jumped to the scene. He was right. There was a difference. I want to make sure the difference was in the PRODUCT and NOT in the DISK. Am I comparing apples to apples?

Wow! You were 19 years old, bought speakers, didn't have the money to buy the receiver so you waited 4 years until you did! THAT is an inspirational story. You must be in seminary. When I was 19 I was in the same boat (Heresy's instead of KLF-10's). I didn't have the money, but the Credit Card company was nice enough to loan it to me. In fact they allowed me to purchase a system that was so Awesome that it took me 10 years to pay it back even though I sold the system less than 2 years after I bought it (to pay rent and get the electricity put back on, etc.) It looks like you've done your homework so I probably am not telling you anything, but even though some multi channel formats tell you that identical speakers are best all of the way around--like you said, some KLF-20's or 30's could/would sound even better (IMO) in your system and you could move the 10's to surround duty. Good Luck on finding the ideal speakers you want.
