  1. Thanks! I have them apart and there are only two caps 3uf and 8uf. I'll replace those and all the wiring. I wouldn't be opposed to a better network but I only have the mechanical skills to build not the electronic skills to design them.
  2. It seems like I need to remove the bottom plate where the pots are. Is there a safe way to do this? I tried asking on AK with no resonses. I'm thinking some heat may help.
  3. The unit I have in question is an Onkyo NR717. The specs listed in the OP is for this unit.
  4. I realize the wrms looks better with only two channels driven. I s there a way to figure wrms with all channels driven? Power Output All Channels 125 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%, 2 channels driven) Front L/R 110 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08%, 2 channels driven, FTC) 125 W + 125 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%, 2 channels driven, FTC) Center 110 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08%, 2 channels driven, FTC) 125 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%, 2 channels driven, FTC) Surround L/R 110 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08%, 2 channels driven, FTC) 125 W + 125 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%, 2 channels driven, FTC) Surround Back L/R 110 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08%, 2 channels driven, FTC) 125 W + 125 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%, 2 channels driven, FTC) Dynamic Power 250 W (3 ohms, 1 ch) 220 W (4 ohms, 1 ch) 130 W (8 ohms, 1 ch)
  5. Jay, FWIW I have a 70" Sharp Aquos in 1080p. It doesn't have all the bells a whistles but has an outstanding picture. I have had several comments on the picture quality. The audio is so so but I'm running through an AVR anyway.
  6. Thanks for the input. The 717 will be repaired under warranty. I really like the 717 and will not replace it.
  7. Update! My nr717 qualifies for free repair service. Onkyo is sending shipping materials to me.
  8. Thanks Michael. That's the kind of info I was looking for. Forte's may be a viable option.
  9. Maybe some RB's for the smaller size. The room is 11'x13' with 9' ceilings. I think I want my speakers on the desk so Heresys would be too big.
  10. Nice looking speakers. I wouldn't mind listening to all of them.
  11. Through experience, what Klipsch speakers do you guys like best for near field listening. I'm going to put together an office system and am definitely going with Klipsch but I am not settled on a particular speaker. Just looking for suggestions from the Klipschsters.
  12. Oh, I'm sorry! and your opinion means.... NOTHING! So because they choose to work a dirty, hard job, they should be paid more than someone who is responsible for your life and has to clean up your Feces ?? You are endowed with extreme intellect! Roger I think you could use a raise.
  13. Again, increasing taxes wont help anything, and once in place, they never go away, plus they will divert the funds away from where they were intended. So please explain to the forum, how increasing taxes on only foreign oil will benefit anyone except the government and a few overpaid oil workers? Please tell me what this does other than make it cost more for everyone to basically put these non educated, over paid workers on another well fair program??? Roger What makes you think that oil workers are uneducated and over paid? My job is very dangerous and the hours are long and hard. We don't complain about foul weather because we have to work in it no matter what. We don't complain when we are working holidays and spending months away from home. Yes, I do make a very comfortable living. Yes, I earn every penny.
  14. I'm buying a new receiver and have pretty much settled on the Yamaha a2040. Does anyone have experience with this receiver? Suggestions are welcome. It will replace an Onkyo NR717 with a bad HDMI board.
  15. Thanks everyone. I'll try a reset when I can get the room free to myself. It seems that the USB update can only be done through the on screen menu.
  16. Update failed during install using USB. Now the HDMI output doesn't work. Everything else seems to be working fine? Any ideas or tips to fix this? Thanks in advance.
  17. Well I'm moving and have sold my LaScalas to a forum member. Bitter sweet. I'm glad a Klipsch head got them but sad to see them go. The JBL 4311's are my main speakers now. These sound really nice and they'll do fine for now. I think I'll try some Klipsch Reference next. 63's maybe? Any thoughts?
