  1. Not mine but funny you mention it. I think the local paraphenalia shop carries one just big enough I just might try if it's not going to be too restrictive. I just hope it doesn't resin up or burn out fast. If that doesn't work I'll boogie on down to Lowes and buy a small section of vinyl screen and trim and glue to fit. Anonymous
  2. I went through the same thing a couple of years ago. Some of the Emilar built designations are very confusing. I've also have or have had "B" pairs of gold, brown, and black to go along with the greens. I have or have had the "A" models in the same colors except the gold. Some of the very old Seeburg Jukes remote speakers had the gold "A" I'm told but have never seen them. My thinking is "Long ago companies would go out of their way to please customers" You could probably get any color you wanted just by asking. Harry
  3. all series horns were available in most colors. Harry
  4. Careful what you wish for!!! Two T-Rex on the way. They eat RatShak Machs. Harry
  5. It's also bent up enough there are gaps in the seal to the horn lens when using it. I'd like to find a replacement for it or not use it at all. Harry
  6. I have a pair of K-55V drivers and one of the screens is bad. Bent enough to block some of the sound coming from them. Are there replacements? Are they even necessary except for protection? Harry
  7. Good point.Glad you guys are ok. Everyone is waiting for the "BIG ONE" on the west coast. If this fault line keeps it up there may be 2 north american continents split down the middle.Harry
  8. I'd glue the dust cover back on. It keeps "dust" and other foreign objects out and protects the voice coil. I use regular speaker repair glue for these but I see no reason either one wouldn't work for glueing them back on. Harry
  9. "You can't whup nuthin what lays down to fight"
  10. Good thinking there John. I wonder if that could have an effect on musical preferences? I'd list my "Birthday #1 tune" but I think it was still log drums beaten with a stick. I'm so old that "porn" was still etched on cave walls. Harry
  11. Ok here. Bed was shakin' and some of the loose stuff laying against the walls were makin' noise. I wasn't awake enough to really know what was going on. I didn't even know it was an earthquake until I read it on the forum here. Harry
  12. That's what woke me up. An earthquake. It was weird and thought I was dreaming. Harry
  13. http://www.jblpro.com/pages/pub/components/2426.pdf I picked up a pair of these yesterday and they're bolted to a pair of 511 Altec horns. I ran them on my Kbins with N508 Altec networks. The sound wasn't bad at all. What kind of network would balance these out? They're not bad as is. Harry
  14. "As long as he's not trying to light up a frat party with the system he'll be fine. Like Fritz said though, he shouldn't attempt to add another set of speakers. I think worst case there is that the HK's protection circuitry would kick in and shut it down." How many college kids aren't gonna crank it on a regular basis? I'm sure once a bunch of college kids that have not heard horns and old HK gear are going to want to hear the KG4s scream. I'd find some replacement parts and back ups to prepare for the inevitable meltdown. Unless things have changed radically since I went I'm sure the partying and good times still roll. Harry
  15. Happy Birthday Bob. Enjoy your Plenty Ninth. Harry
  16. "I'm almost done buying stereo gear" (Arf) "My system is now complete" And on a personal note. The day I left for the Marine Corps my dad gave me some good advice as we were waiting for the bus. "Shup up and don't volunteer fur nuttin", "keep your head down", and "Don't get no higher than pickin' corn nor lower than diggin 'taters boy. You'll be ok" Harry
  17. Or if it's really really noisy pretend you're at the bar listening to your favorite local band while you crush the last little bit of ice left in your well drink. I've got an old "Billie Holiday" I bought at a yard sale like that. Great music and won't let it go. I found some CDs with the same tunes but it's not the same. Some of the old old stuff still sounds better with the noise. Harry
  18. I can honestly say I've kept my sanity since joining this forum. Even after having to move speakers around to get out the door. Well, it makes perfectly good sense to me. Harry
  19. This has been an ongoing issue for quite a while. Many new devices are contaminated and most anti spyware is capable of detection and removal. However, Protection is a mostly defensive and after the fact manuever and some a..hole will keep trying to gain access for financial gain or a power trip. How many "Super Villians" are just lurking and waiting for a chance for world dominance. Harry
  20. Welcome. Save the boxes if at all possible. When I moved into an apartment in town to take care of my dad I ended up renting a storage shed for my excess belongs I didn't have the room in the apartment for. I saved all the boxes from my gear. When I wasn't using a particular component it was nice and safe being stored in the original boxes. Harry
  21. Ditto!! If you don't mind "patching" and constantly "rigging" different functions Vista is great. Yea right. Last nights update removed my auto connect and it's moved it to who knows where. I now have to go to my programs to open Explorer. It won't creat a short cut now and I'm having trouble getting it to accept MSN as a homepage to open automatically upon start or re-start. I'm working through administrator user, turned off Vista security again to work with all the patching required to keep this thing running smooth. It runs ok when you get it all patched up but then the next update starts you all over from scratch every now and then. If it would just do the same thing over and over I could accept it. Just too many different paths to accomplish what should be a simple every day routine. I mean it works, but it's ridiculous having to keep re-routing to do the normal tasks. Harry
  22. This HP is my first factory built PC. I've always built my own. My old PC along with some electronics was fried by a lightening strike 7 or 8 months ago and I had to replace it on the weekend so I bought off the shelf this time. It's a top of the line HP but I'm not impressed with the Vista on this machine. It may just be the HP components causing me grief with compatibility. Nvidia, Realtek, and Vista security have all been problems. I disabled all Vista security and went back to AVG, Adaware, and Spybot and it's a lot smoother and faster now. I'm running the XP skins and other than the compatibility issues it's not bad. I had to buy new camera, scanner/fax/printer when I went to Vista. All were less than a year old and couldn't be used with the Vista OS. I haven't been happy since day one with this system. It seems every update with Vista makes all the software companies involved update also. Nothing seems as stable as it could be. I should NOT have to be updating updates from 2 or 3 softwares every week. I used the Mac in my regular job until I decided to go to work on my own. It was a smooth and stable system with nothing ever problematic with it. I'm happy and envious for all that are satisfied with Vista. I'm just not one that's happy with it. Harry
  23. "Could easily fit a couple pairs of Khorns" If I was you I'd go ahead and retain legal council now. With the path your headed you'll eventually need it. Definitely Welcome. You'll fit in just fine here. Harry
