  1. So brothers and sisters, Was on a business trip and just got back into the office. Opened my mails with a big smile[] Yes,yes a mail from Lonnie Vaughn at Emotiva support. 30 seconds later[:'(] Emotiva does not ship to Europe....... yet: shipping, VAT etc.is to expensive for the coustomer he was very sorry but at this point in time no. AAAAARRRRRRGGGG Methinks I will have to find a workaround, I have not given up hope!!!! Perhaps on of our business partners can help me out? Thanks for the link for the Klipsch dealer here, I will look into it. Thanks fo the reviews on the Emotiva (now I am really depressed)[] Those of you that are interested I will keep this post going until I prevail. Back at the ol drawing board. Randy
  2. Short update........ Have been surfing most of the morning concerning the Emotiva....have only heard good things about this setup (Audioholics).....40% discount on future tech. sounds almost to good to be true. The 99% for the Yammy just went to 50%, Rotel a bit pricy at the moment but also a very good system Depending on Shipping, waranty etc. It looks like the Emotiva is starting to win the race, now only if the WAF (also known as minister of finances) gives the ok.[A] Randy
  3. Reading articles like this make me want to own a house. I only have a small Sub12 but in an apartment with neighbours under you they sometimes get ticked off when you start to vibrate their nick-nacks off of the shelves. [:-*]
  4. Islander, I think you hit it on the nose now that I hear the name. Randy
  5. Thanks for the tip!!! Was on their websight and asked about shipping terms etc. A separates system would be better for me due to the fact that when we remodeled I built our old system into the wall (blind wall made out of 2 layers of dry wall) and forgot everything is getting bigger. So the opening for the reciever is 17,5 cm (about 7 inches) [*-)] The Amp could be hidden behind the wall (I have active airflow so nothing gets to hot.) but since it looks so good I would probably open the front again and integrate it so it is visable, WAF will kill me. It has a very good price, even under the 900 euro mark, wich leaves a little extra money for a new DVD.[6] Right now in the race: Yamaha RX-V1700, 900 euros Rotel RSX-1057, 1400 euros Emotiva LMC-1 with LPA-1, 750 euros Tendation moving towards Emotiva. Keep tips coming and kudos to this forum, many helpful people with good advice. Randy
  6. LMAO darn I've been using the wash machine all this time. That kills 2 birds with one stone.... but be careful the pipes could get cloged from cat hair.[]
  7. Westcott: Yes if you are in the military you get extreme good prices, sometimes 1/2 price than in the States,r at least back then. Was in the Army 8 years and 6 here in Germany. Just stayed after the tour. In the Army you had too much time and too much money. We had guys buying Crazy wild amps and speakers and on the weekends it was battle of the bands. The guy in the room next to me had 4 Bose 901 Piano finish and was pushing 1500 watts each thru them. The big brands back then were Bose, Infinity, Polk B&W Cerwin Vega and JBL. Klipsch only sold one model there forget the name of them Small horn on top, middle horn and a w shaped bass. naked wood.(alot of guys thought they were ugly but sounded nice) My system then was Carver, Cerwin Vega (Later KEF 102/4 or was it 104/2 ??) Nakimichi Dragon tape, Teac CD. We had guys changing their rigs more often than their undies.[+o(] Monthly road trip to Rhein Main to see the latest that came in. Oh those were the days. I don't know anyone in the Military now (been out since 92 or so) so I have to buy like anyone else.[:'(] Randy BTW In the states Fort Hood was my first duty assignment, nothin like the road trips to Austin, hook em horns!!!wooo
  8. I agree they are trying to save money, just baught a 2 cd compelation today "Sing when your Swinging" goodies from 30'S and 40's. 2 cases but when I opened the darn thing I was greeted with the small plastic "doo hickies" that keep the cd stable in the middle. At least the CD did not get scratched. I can suggest this CD, music from 1938 to about 1948 sweet and hot Swing, digitally remastered from Delta music. Only 32 songs though.
  9. Thanks for the imput guys!!! I did not take getech's imput personally, as I said somewhere else in this forum "oppinions are like a** holes, every body has one" a quote from someone much greater than I. I also have thick skin, I'm a technician.[] No blood no foul!!! Emotiva is also a brand I have not heard of but will look for thanks. Like I said I have time....unfortunately no paitence. I have talked to the Klipsch rep here in D-Land but at the moment they are not selling the Heratige systems here (so they say). It is also out of my price class at the moment. The entire F3 system costed me about $900 with Sub12 after taking a package together with the Samsung. I myself think it is a very good bang for the buck!!! Although if I could I would get Khorns for 2 channel and The THX system for HT. So many toys and not enough money!!! Randy
  10. I wonder if he can even still play. Back in the day it was the big head to head with Steve Vai and now you don't hear anything.
  11. True true!!! I can remember as a wee tot that my Grandpa used to change channels and binky our toy poodle would flip out. The problem is now I have to many of them.
  12. That could be true with analogue they could be checking and rechecking everything thus putting out a better quality. I know this from telecommunications, when I did the analouge equipment I took loads of time for cleaning and calibration. With digital just change the card and see if it works, must say after a while you get sloppy when everything is easy.[|-)]
  13. You're missing out on some fantastic vinyl. The newer high quality pressings are great. Also, the latest reissues of older LPs from the likes of Classic Records, Analogue Productions and a few others are top notch. Some of the best I've heard. How are the high quality pressings bieng mixed??? As far as I know (which is not much imo) if the recording is digital all of the editing could be done before the LP is pressed, thus filtering out any "unwanted" background noise. Thus sounding like a cd on a very high quality systems like you guys have. Are LP's bieng produced differently now a days??? Would that be DDA then??? Randy
  14. Thanks for the many replies, since I am in Germany my replies to your replies will take a bit longer due to time difference. I welcome any input that I get from this forum, I have been gosting around since December or so taking all the info that I can. Many times I have gotten real good info in setting up the system. Yes 99% is somewhat sure but I have been out of the Audio game so long I'm not sure what other brands are booming these days and it is alway good to hear another oppinion. I went to the Rotel dealer yesterday and herd the 1057 in 2 channel and was impressed, unfortunately I could not hear it in HT because they were only set up for 2 channel. The dealer even told me that Klipsch is a very good brand, although the Heritage blows the F3 series away (and he does not even sell Klipsch). We will be seeing if I can test run at home. When I was in the Army I had a Maranz (don't remember the model) driving Cerwin Vegas but was not so happy with it and changed to Carver, today the Maranz should be much better though!! Could be worth checking out. Unfortunately they only have the Carver Studio line here and that is way out of my budget, some of the larger Cinemas here are using Carver to drive their speakers mostly JBL. After having to listen to 18 year old SABA 2 ways for the last 9 years the change over to Klipsch (yes even the F3's) is like trading in an old Gremlin for a Mercedes[] Lucky for me they just started to sell Klipsch in German stores about 8 months ago and only Synergy and certian Reference series. I almost bought Quadral...[:|] Please keep suggestions coming, it will take a while before I decide which way to go. It took me a year to decide to buy new speakers... Thanks again, Randy
  15. I'm in the process of digitalizing (sp?) all of my old tapes and have already done the few vinyl that I have. If I don't send it through an extra program to clean it up I hear no difference. If I do send it through Steinberg "Clean" I can take just about all of the pops and hisses out but have found out that I like them in there, just sounds more original. I think one of the differences today is that the (hoping not to step on any toes here) the sound engineers go about mixing differently then the full Analog days. I myself have not heard any new music, say after 1987, on vinyl but on cd everything is digitaly enhanced trying to get the "best" quality and possibly filtering out things that were left in due to how hard it was to get rid of them. ...but then again as some one said "oppinions are like a** holes, everybody has one" that's just mine. Randy
  16. Just called the dealer with the Rotel, they have them in stock and if I leave a check/credit card for the full price I can take it home and try it out. The only thing is, it costs 1498 euro. In germany you can twist their arm to about 10 to 12%, if it sounds "better" than the yamaha there could be another reciever in the race.
  17. Rotel hmmmm, never heard one yet. Just looked them up in the net and there is even a dealer here in Hannover. Thanks for the tip I'll take a listen.[Y]
  18. Hello fellow Klipsch fans! I just started rebuilding my system and the 2nd thing I want to change is my reciever. As you see below I have an old yammy and due to the fact that it only sends a "fake" signal to the rears I am not experiencing true Surround sound[:'(] The reciever I have in mind (99% sure I will buy it) is the Yamaha RX-V1700. Just wanted to know if anyone else in the foum has this reciever. $900 is my limit and since I am a Yamaha fan (Although Carver was my first choice in the army back in the day) this one caught my eye. Just lookin for pros/cons and mabie a reciever with the same quality with a somewhat lower price. HDMI and digital inputs a must the rest of the "extras" could be thought about. Speaker set up in signature. Thanks Randy
  19. Tommyboy, If you let me know what you want I could look here in germany. They have some of the reference series at Media Markt not sure which ones though. I bought the Synergy 3 series but saw the reference they were a little to much for my bank account at the moment for a HT. I could also ship them from here.
  20. Here in Germany it is hard to get both formats of discs, although I did see the Hybrid player from LG at Saturn (like best buy). I myself will be waiting it out, we got burnt back in the day when beta came out and had the player but could not get films, although I thought beta was better then VHS.
  21. .......your local utilities lays you a deticated line to stop power surges to other homes when you turn on your amps.
