Yes, was wanting some feedback from a seller on the 115. Sounds like it could power my Epic 1s.

With these below test numbers I bet it can.

    Lab Tests

The R-115's power output at clipping into 8-ohm loads at 1,000 Hz was 105 watts per channel, well above its 70-watt rating. Into 4 ohms, the output was 148 watts, and into 2 ohms it was a potent 210 watts. The dynamic power output during a 20-millisecond tone burst was 170 watts into 8 ohms, 275 watts into 4 ohms, and 350 watts into 2 ohms. The 8-ohm clipping and dynamic headrooms were 1.77 and 3.85 dB, respectively.

"It is not possible to play SACD, MP3 or WMA discs on the CXC. The CXC uses the same S3 servo as our Azur CD players and is optimised for CD playback only."

  3. @DougM,

    Welcome to the forum.

I had great results driving my long gone to the Ukraine Fortes with 80's/90's Denon integrated amps and preamp/amp combos.  They really brought out the best the Fortes could muster with great detail and fast punchy bass.  I really miss the combinations.

From what I have read/heard, the modern Denon integrated amps continue with that sound signature(dead on neutral) with some modern enhancements.

I am curious how they'd sound with a modern amp like the Outlaw RR-2160MKII though I'm not in any particular hurry to drop a grand on one.

No need to drop $1000.00 to bring out what the Forte possesses.

  4. @bellcars,

    Welcome to the forum.

Not sure about the monetary value of your Cornwalls but being that your father was the original owner and they have stood the test of time for 53 years, do your self a favor and keep them as a tribute to your father.  Unless you are in desperate need for the $$$, have them restored/renewed and enjoy them.

  5. @Sharkmatic,

    Welcome to the forum.

You inherited a nice pair of what looks to be oak oil Klipschorns.  Very desirable speakers that hold their value.  Can't tell the year of production without knowing the serial numbers.  Post a few photos of the rear/inside of speakers showing the serial numbers and many folks will chime in and tell you exactly what you have.  If total condition is as nice as in the photo, the value could be upwards of $2500.00 maybe more.

Wait for more knowledgeable members to speak up.

I just bought the parasound a31 to pair with rf7iii. I was really nervous before reading your review. You see i had rf7ii's paired with emotiva dr3. That emotiva amp is much more powerful and really pushes my rf7ii's like i love. I was nervous about going down to 250 watts on the parasound.

Let me tell you, the Parasound's 250w/ch is plenty of horsepower for your RF7IIIs.  More than you will ever need.  A couple of years back at a demo session at forum member @Youthman's home, we drove his RF-7IIIs with my 90w/ch Yamaha A-S1000 integrated amp to ear bleeding levels in his 4000 cu ft room and it was clean as a whistle with plenty of chest thumbing bass.

I was worried if I really could tell a difference from the ii's to the iii's and if the lower power rating wouldn't reach levels I was used to.

In the demo we could tell the difference between the IIs and IIIs but really came to the conclusion that what the IIs did very well, the IIIs did better.  Not a huge difference but noticeable.  No worries about the power decrease going with the Parasound.

  7. @OdioFil,

    Welcome to the forum.

Very nice rig.  Can't think of anything I would replace the Anthems with.

High quality 225w/ch amplification is plenty plenty plenty, even if your room is 5000 cu ft or more.  Those Anthems are some of the quietest amps on the market.

I have been using Acurus amps to drive my main HT system for over 10 years and punch is not something it is lacking.  I inserted an Anthem MCA 5 channel amp into the mix a few years back to test it out and it provided the same amount of punch/bass drive as the Acurus amps.

I just took down my surround system which consisted of 3 XL-23's, 2 XL-12's, X500WD Subwoofer and 1 pair of XFS stands.

These are fantastic speakers and would be perfect for a smaller setup in a smaller room or a more discrete setup in a family room environment.  The XW-500D subwoofer performs way above it's weight class.

I would say they are "worth" maybe $700.00 to $800.00 to the right buyer.
