  1. RB-81's are great. Big size, big sound. Bass extension and large soundstage. Here is a link to help you: http://hometheatermag.com/compactspeakers/1006klipsch81/ Bill
  2. I borrowed a B&K reference 4430 amp from a friend to demo. After plugging in all conections, turning on receiver then amp and sampling a cd, I expected it to knock my socks off. Instead there was distortion(low) and a sense of low output. Any possible reasons this could be happening? Owner's manual suggests a blown rail fuse. Anyone experienced this with B&K or any amp for that matter? Thanks, Bill
  3. Longdrive03, Thanks for the alternative method of veneering. I haven't tried any method yet, but will soon take the plunge. If successful, I will post with pictures. Thanks, Bill
  4. I have demoed the 82's at a friends home with a 140wt Pioneer Elite receiver and came away wanting(needing) more for myself. I was about to purchase the 82's for $800.00 from a local A/V store until I found a used pair of cherry 63's for a grand. I have not heard the 83's but am completely blown away by the 63's. Between the 82's and the 83's, buying the 63's is a compromise. But a "d**n good" compromise. If there is no $$$ issue, get the 83's, put it all to rest and enjoy. Bill
  5. Groomlakearea51, Thanks a bunch. I appreciate the direct and informative reply. I think I will try your suggestion. If I decide to sell the 62 in the future(purchase the cherry 64), is there a way to cleanly remove the veneers and adhesive without ruining the vinyl surface? Just asking if I was to have a hard time selling with the custom addition. Bill
  6. I am not sure this is the right thread to ask this question but here it goes. I just bought a pair of RF-63's in cherry and want to add a real cherry veneer to my RC-62. I have some real natural cherry veneer left over from my cabinet install and I want to attach it to the top and sides of the 62. First, is that a wise thing to do and second any suggestions how to do it? I love the way the real cherry looks and I can't afford nor will my shelf be strong enough to support an RC-64. I would guess an adhesive is the only way to go. Any wood workers out there? Bill
  7. IMO I would say get the Onkyo TX-SR805. Same Burr-Brown DACs and dual push-pull amp as 2k dollar TX-NR905. This thing is a beast(50.9 lbs). Make sure your shelf is large enough and strong enough to accomodate. THX Ultra2 doesn't mean everything but it does mean something. It also has what is accepted as one of the best room-correcting systems(Audyssey MultEQ XT). When it comes to the THD comparison, yes .05% is better than .09% but it probably will not be audible to the human ear. As far as video processing goes, let your(BR,HD-DVD,DVD) player do the upscaling. Don't get me wrong Pioneer Elites are great but most of my experience is with Onkyos. You can find the 805 many places under $700.00. All of the remaining requests are possible with the Onkyo. Bill
  8. Wow. Just had the 1.5 year old cherry RF-63's($1000.00/pair) delivered to my house by the previous owner. Did I say wow? As far as I am concerned, the RC-62 sounds great with the 63's. I have only listened to some Irish acoustic guitar music so far but I can say that it seems the performance is taking place in my family room. Crisp and precise. Can't wait to put in King Kong(HD-DVD) and Saving Private Ryan(DVD) to test the setup with HT. Thanks for all the advice you "well informers" gave to me. By the way I would have bought them anyway even if the consensus was no. Now I have to take back the RB-35's before my 30 days are up(only way the wife would let me buy the 63's). Hey, wouldn't the 35's be great as rear surrounds? I had better quit while I am ahead. Thanks, Bill
  9. I jumped the gun a little bit before I read your entire post. I personally have not heard the RVX-54. Just wanted you to be aware of a great deal. I have 3 RVX-42's and was going to pull the trigger on this ad until I found a pair of RF-63's. If you do decide to buy the the 54's, I could sell my 42's for a good price.

  11. Thanks Youthman. Great advice. If I haven't heard the RC-64 I really cannot compare the two. I think the 62 and 63's will sound just fine to me. By the way we are kind of like neighbors. Thanks.
  12. I have an opportunity to buy a pair of RF-63's(cherry) for a great price. I am currently using the RC-62 as center. For a non-audiofile, how would this combination work? The RC-64 is way too big(heavy) for my shelf and too steep for my wallet. I spoke with a Klipsch tech and his opinion was that unless I was an expert, I probably couldn't notice that they were not a perfect match. Can anyone else concur with that? I am very close to pulling the trigger on the towers. Thanks, Bill
  13. If nezff is not interested, how much? Also looking for surrounds (RS-42 or RS-52) to go with an RC-62 and a pair of RB-35's.
  14. I currently have (3) RVX-42's LCR and want to move them to sides and rear for 6.1 HT. I will be replacing the fronts with (2) RVX-54's. I also want to change center to either RC-35 or RC-25 (RVX-42 is a little weak compared to RVX-54). I am considering these centers because of crossovers(2100Hz) or (2250Hz) and woofers(6.5in) or (5.25in). The RVX-54 has a HF crossover at 2300Hz and also 5.25in woofers. I know the tweeter size on all is 1in but of different designs. Does this combination appear to seem to work? This is a setup I am adding to bedroom. I recently bought an RC-62 for main HT and love the "in your face" feeling. I think the RC-35 or 25 will have a similar feeling. Any experienced feedback will be appreciated. BobG if you are listening. I can see this post might be confusing(adding RVX-54 and RC-25/35 to bedroom system at bottom of profile). Thanks, Bill
  15. Hey, that's the photo in the add I saw. It looks like real wood. What a bonus if so.
  16. I saw an add for a pair of RS-52's in cherry. Real or vinyl? I do not see anywhere on Klipsch website that these are(or ever were) available in cherry. Could someone clue me in whether this could be true. Thanks, Bill
  17. RB-35's @ Sound Adv***/Twe**** for buy one get one free(pair $299.98). Bought mine with an RC-62(20% off) couldn't be happier with purchase. HT/music dynamics changed completely. I know RB-81's would be perfect match with center but this setup sounds great to me.
  18. I have a chance to purchase a set of RF-62's($600.00) and an RC-52($280.00) for a good price from an authorized dealer. I would like to move two of my RVX-42's to side surrounds and my center RVX-42 to center back surround(horizontally sittng on sofa table) for a 6.1 system. Is this an unusual setup or would it work okay? I have a pair of RSX-4's that will be relocated to the bedroom. Maybe also move one RVX-42 to bedroom. Should I leave the RSX-4's as surrounds and move all three RVX-42's to bedroom? I am soooo confused. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks, Bill
  19. Onkyo also has this problem with the TX-SR**05's. When bitstreaming DTS HD Master Audio through any of these receivers many have experienced a loud pop, possibly resulting in speaker damage. Onkyo and Yamaha have DSP firmware updates that correct the problem. Posts: 399 It fixes a serious issue that could cause speaker damage or your neighbors thinking you shot your wife with a .38 or .45 gun (due to the LOUD bang) See here for details http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1008620
  20. I have owned an Onkyo TX-SR705 since August 07. Very pleased with product. IMO "best bang for the buck". Sounds great with my RVX-42 system. Onkyo has rep for being bright sounding when paired with Klipsch speakers, but with equilizer settings and crossovers adjusted properly, that all can be eliminated. In most places, the Onkyo comes in less expensive than the Denon(most on forum say sounds great with Klipsch) and with a few more features. I personally have no experience with Denon. Here is a link to a side by side comparison. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/ProdComp.asp?g=10420&s=0&c=4&cc=01&compareItems=580TXS705B&compareItems=033AV2308C
  21. I have a friend who bought a new HT system including an Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver,1 rcx-4, 4 rsx-5, 1 rw-12d. After install and setup, WAF wouldn't allow the LR rsx-5 to remain. Could someone recommend a pair of in-walls to replace the two front rsx-5's that will tonally match the rest? The tech from the place he bought them recommended a pair of 5650W's. How would these work?
  22. Dave, I do not believe that either of those choices are in th reference series(may not be a tonal match). Sorry I have no experience with in ceiling speakers. I would contact a Klipsch tech and get better advice or maybe someone else on this forum can help you. Bill
  23. Let me get this straight. Let's say you have a 16x20 room. Is your TV on the 20ft wall? If so I would only mount them on an 8ft ceiling . Any higher the sound would seem too directional. Ideally, you could get 3 RSX-4 and place two of them on end tables framing your sofa and one on a sofa table behind your seating area(use an area rug to cover the speaker wires for the rears). All this is moot if the wife doesn't approve. If you had to place them on the rear wall, mount a decorative shelf to accomodate them. Again don't for get the WAF. Bill
