  1. I was kinda bummed that my dealer does not carry B&K or Rotel. They are authorized for Parasound so I thought I would check out the forums to see if others have used Parasound. To my surprise, there are many Parasound/Klipsch owners and they love it! Is it tomorrow yet?
  2. Thx Fish. Mine is only 55 w/ch. I'm leaning towards getting a 2 or 3 channel amp before I get the center. I'm trying to figure out (for now), which would be better. A high power amp with the RF-83's and my 15" Velodyne sub or the low powered receiver with the RF-83's and the RC-64 with the Velodyne. Decisions...decisions.
  3. I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow to see if my RF-83's came in yet. For now, I will be powering them with my HK AVR55. As soon as I pick up the 83's, I'll be putting my CF-2's and KV-3 up for sale. Once they are sold, I will use that money towards the RC-64. No rears for now, and will continue to use my Velodyne F1500 sub. We are putting aside all the money we can for closing cost on our house. Once we close, I can begin putting some money aside for the dedicated HT (along with money for furniture). My question is will the HK be able to handle the 83's and the 64? I realize it will not sing like it would with a separate 200x3 channel amp. The RF-7's dip down very low in ohms and figure the 83's will as well. Eventually will have a separate amp and new receiver but for now, it's what I have to work with. Would it be better to hold off on the RC-64 and use the money from my CF & KV towards a 2 channel amp? What would you do if it were you? I soooo can't wait till they come in!
  4. From the looks of your diagram, you will probably want to move the RF-7's away from the wall a bit so that the front of speakers are not being obstructed by the entertainment center. It could cause the sound to be effected.
  5. Wow guys! Thanks for the incredible amount of information. From what I am learning, baby steps, listen to it for a few days, and tweek till it sound right to me. I have moved my speakers out about 1 inch from the front of the entertainment center. I'm sure my wife will notice. LOL. This is a temp setting till we move into our new house with dedicated theater room but I figure I have until December to enjoy the room that I have them in now so I might as well make it sound the best that I can while we are here. My CF-2's do not have the floor spikes, nor does it have any feet pads. I do feel holes on the bottom of the speaker (didn't know they were there). My previous Polk's had floor spikes. Thanks again for all of the info. I didn't realize that you could get your speakers tweeked to the point that if you closed your eyes, you could visualize one artist in front of another. How is that possible if it is all being fed into a mixer that doesn't know who is in front on stage and who is in back? I can understand left and right but front and back....is that really possible?
  6. If you take a look at my setup below, my speakers are about 6.5 feet apart and my couch is about 10 feet back from the speakers. Since taking the photo, I have begun to play with toeing them in. When I toe them in, how do I know how far to adjust them? What exactly am I trying to accomplish? I have heard people talk about large soundstage. Is this what I imagine if I close my eyes as I listen to the speakers, picturing a large stage in front of me? I am using CF-2's. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  7. I have the KV-3 center and the dialog is much clearer than my previous Polk. I do not feel that it is muffled and it uses the same tweeter as yours. I could be wrong but I believe most of the midrange comes from the woofers, not the tweeter. The tweeter picks up the much higher frequencies.
  8. I would not think there would be a problem mounting the center speaker flush since it is front ported. The RB-61 might be a different story because of the way the horn is designed. It would be on it's side so dispersion might be a problem. I'm not a 100% sure on this so can anyone clarify if I am correct on that?
  9. Hey Joe, we are not trying to put down your recommendation at all. I was just offering as you were, "another choice" for everyone. I think they provide very reasonable prices for custom cables. Especially when Walmart was selling an HDMI for $50, even Blue Jeans had them beat by $20 and they are hand made.

I see what you mean. I looked on www.epinions.com and www.audioreview.com but found nothing for those speakers. Guess they are not that popular but that doesn't mean they aren't good speakers. I have never heard them myself so I can't say one way or another. Good luck with your search.

Did you try searching for rvx 54 (without the dash)? Here are the reviews I found. Search results for Klipsch RV 54 Review Does that help?
  12. I just looked at the order details and I did not order it last week. I ordered it on 02/18, it shipped on 02/19 and arrived on 02/21. Now that's some sweet customer service! I haven't hooked up the cable at my dad's house yet but it came in a sealed thick plastic packaging with foam taped around each HDMI end and a cap over the ends as well. So far, I am extremely impressed with monoprice. They probably have found a customer for life. Thx to the guys in this forum that recommended them.
  13. I didn't realize they make custom length cables. That's good to know. Seems like monoprice.com is a bit cheaper but if you need custom length cables, Blue Jeans Cable is probably the way to go. Last week, I ordered a 6ft HDMI cable from monoprice and it was under $10.00 (including shipping). Same cable on Blue Jeans Cable is $30. Quite a bit difference in price.
  14. Yes, your receiver will be fine with the. You can always turn down the rear channels if you feel that they are receiving too much power. I'm not sure about the 0db part. Someone more technical than I would have to address that.
  15. I have listened to the 42's and the 52's and prefer the 52's. Just not sure there is a $400 difference between the 42's and the 62's.
  16. 50 watts of unclean power will do more damage than 90 watts of clean power. Just because you have 90 watt receiver doesn't mean that you have to feed them the full 90. 90 watt receiver turned down would sound better than 50 watt receiver maxed out. I know that isn't very technical but does that make sense? []
  17. Yeah, there is a lot of marketing hype that has people thinking they have to buy "Monster Cable" in order to get a quality sound. A long time ago, when I worked at Circuit City, we had one small isle display setup with a/b using regular RCA and Monster Cable. Guess what? Most people either could not tell a difference AND many of them chose the regular RCA over the Monster Cable. Long live MonoPrice!
  18. I am using a KV-3 with CF-2's and it has excellent dialog. I will soon be upgrading to the RC-64 as I get ready to move towards an RF-83 setup.
  19. My dad will be happy with just about anything. He knows very little about technology but enjoys watching TV and movies. The upscaling should be a treat for him. HDMI cable will come in a few days. Still can't believe I paid less than $10 (including shipping) from www.monoprice.com and at Radio Shack and Walmart, they wanted $50 for the same length HDMI cable. What a huge markup.
  20. Yeah when Dad called and told me he bought an HD I asked him if he got it cheap. He said, "not too cheap, it was around $160.00". I then explained in comparison to Blu's $400 price tag, the Toshiba was "cheap". I was concerned too but after I explained everything to him, he said he was fine with the limited selection. I told him the plus side is that he has a really nice DVD player and will be able to get movies really cheap until they are all gone. He has a lot of DVD's so it will make them look nicer as well.
  21. Very nice setup indeed. Will the couches remain sideways to the screen?
  22. Yes, it sounded good enough to when I have our home built with dedicated theater room, it will definitely have separate amps.
  23. I don't think I have ever heard a 4 inch woofer rumble. []
  24. I haven't been on woot in awhile. They have one deal a day, usually overstock items. Once their quantities are gone, they are gone. Can get some pretty good deals sometimes. Slick Deals is another good source for discounted items
  25. Who gives a woot! [] Yeah I've never seen any on Woot before either except maybe the Promedia series (not sure if that).
