  1. PS: Eventually, I would like to explore an active set up but I was encouraged to hear both you and Mark's feelings that a passive setup (with some sort of EQ device) will work.
  2. Well... It has been of a bit of a yard sale approach since coming across these local 402s that I happened across. I don't have a real plan, more of a dream at this point. Unfortunately the dream is fuelled by a beer budget vs. champagne budget. My current set up is… as per post #45. Mac Mini server> Triode Lab 2A3 Integrated amp> Style C Cornscalas with ALK Universal Cornscala-Wall Xovers, B&C DE85TNs. When I decided to grab the 402s that I was asking about here, I decided to push some needed $ at Jordan for the Faiatal HF-200 (16ohm) that he had listed. In talking with Mark (1101) I also ordered a pair of 510s with the suggestion that 3way might be worth exploring in a Jub set up. My integrated amp (which I am LOVING) and my current limited budget will necessitate me going passive for the time being and I will try to use my Cornscalas for bass duties until I can either find a beater pair of La Scalas (JubScalas) or better yet build a pair of Jub bass bins. Another option if the Jub bins look too much for my building abilities might be to build a pair of DBBs… ? When all these "yardsale" components arrive, for giggles I am going to plug then into my CSs by blocking off the CS mid and tweet and then place the 402/510...B&C 85s/HF-200 atop the Cornscalas, feeding them signal from the ALK Universal Cornscala-Wall Xovers. Not sure what will happen...
  3. Roy graciously has made available appropriate delay, xo points and EQ for certain end user configurations. This is limited to a few drivers with the K510 or K402 horn on a few different bass bins. This is a snap with an active digital processor. Hey jwc, I have gone ahead and purchase the 402s that I was lucky enough to come across and while I was at it sprung for a pair of 510s I do have some options now Speaking of options, I do remember reading a post were someone (maybe you) listed Roy's proven horn/driver/ bass combos they he made available the Xover set-ups. I cannot find, any idea where to read up on this?
  4. I believe those were the ones I just sold him. Man I hope all is all right and he gets everything worked out. I believe Bob Crites uses those on his 402s and the reason I purchased them. Maybe contact Bob and see what he has to say. Hey 1982, Thanks for your input. Yes, most importantly we all wish for the best for jorjen and his son! I just sent Bob an email to see what he says. It would be nice to be able to help out a guy that has given so much inspiration with his posts on this forum. jorjen still has my most favourite masterpiece that I have seen created on this forum, and this forum has had hundreds (plus) of memorable builds!
  5. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/162986-fs-pair-faital-pro-hf-200-compression-drivers/ What say you guys, Would this be a good driver to go with these 402s that I hopefully will be buying? They are 16ohm version, does that work in a 2 way Jubilee, or will I need a 8ohm CD? I can't really afford drivers right now, but if I can help out jorgen and get a good match for the 402s, I would throw the drivers on my card. Someone should also help Jorgen out and buy his VRDs!!!
  6. I hear ya jwc, mine are not getting the juice yours are but my new Triode Lab 2A3 Integrated does it's job… very well !
  7. Hey Guys... Thanks for the responses regarding pricing, and thanks for insight into some of the questions that I will be thinking about once I have purchased the 402s. Up here in Canada, it is a pretty rare opportunity to come across something like a pair of 402s. Although I am not really financially ready to build up a complete Jubilee system all at one time, I think I will spring for these horns while I have the chance. I have been really enjoying my Cornscalas that I built 3 years ago, I wish I could dream up a way to utilize the 402s with my CSs while I take my time sourcing the balance of a Jub set up.
  8. If I get the 402s, I would probably put them atop a pair of La Scalas if I can find a pair locally. Is there a Xoxev schematic available for a passive 2 way 402 / K69 + La Scala bass bin?
  9. I have a line on a pair of brand new 402s, what would be a good… and fair price? If I go for them, I would plan on probably put together a JubScala set up, at least until I felt I had the time and skill to build a pair of Jubilee bass bins.
  10. I must be 1 of those "half dozen" that are waiting to hear back. I can do a bit of soldering, but I have "a guy" for when I want to make sure things are A1.
  11. Well, who would have thought this classified post would get pinged after all this time. It did not sell 3 years ago and has had little use since then. Kasialuca, I will PM you back.
  12. What I'd be afraid of is that I saw a magazine ad just last night where they are openly being advertised, brand new with warranty, for $250, shipped, and you might could get them cheaper. If people are paying $200 plus shipping for used ones that likely have no warranty, they just don't know where to look. I tend to agree with MLO. Last year I bought a brand new one from an authorized feaBay seller for $270 shipped, with full warranty. I am not sure how recently, but the XLS series has been "updated" to the V2 (eg: XLS 1502). For critical listening, I doubt I would want to drive my speakers in full range with one of these but my XLS1500 does a nice job as a sub amp for my F-20. I would like to buy another one (not at 200 bucks) to drive my pair of Exodus Anarchy 6.5" 25hz tapped horns subs.
  13. Correct on both counts Carl. I finally broke down and bought a Jasper jig this year, they do work great!!! Up until then I was using a scrap piece of plexiglass that I had mounted to my router and then measured out my desired radius and drilled a hole for the pivot point. it worked, but it did involve a bit of trial and error... with the Jasper it's, 1st time, every time. :emotion-21:
  14. IMO, absolutely. You're talking about 3/64 of an inch and when you consider that you will have variances in panel thickness, cuts, marking, placement, pencil thickness, heck, even the thickness of the bead of PL that oozes out on the inside of the panel, braces (that to the best of my knowledge weren't even part of the performance calculations when the design was done) My point is, I believe that the average person gets overwhelmed when deciding to do a lot of builds because they get hung up on miniscule details because they don't have confidence and are overwhelmed when something isn't perfect, and they need to relax and go into it realizing that perfection isn't going to happen. I've been building for a long time but this won't be a build without mistakes, and I'm actually going to point those out because I hope that they will help someone decide to build something that in the end, will have been an enjoyable experience with great practical performance results. But hey, I could be wrong. I agree 100% Pete! The F-20 may be a musical instrument of sorts, but is not like we are building a Bösendorfer.
  15. Thanks, now if I could only find some nice black screws. I only had some brass screws on hand that were the appropriate size. And yes DizRotus, the Duratex is GREAT stuff. Only your hair dresser knows for sure what goes on under the Duratex.
  16. I went with the round version... Neutrik NL4MPR, and counter sunk it to flush mount. My photography skills leave a bit to be desired, it looks better in person.
  17. SOLD 2 Brand new, never used Philips 5R4GYS Rectifiers tubes for sale. Asking $80 each, or $150 for the pair. http://www.upscaleaudio.com/philips-5r4gys-made-in-holland/ I had 2 pair of these and when I sold my Welborne DRD45 monos last week I initially sold the 1 pair that had been used. This 2nd non used pair I was going to keep to use in future gear but the amps that I am about to purchase do not take this rectifier so I have decided to offer them up. Do a google and read why everybody (not just me) love this rectifier. You don't need to spend crazy money on an old used Mullard to get primo sound. I paid $99/each plus Cryogenically Treated @ $8 per tube by Upscale Audio.
  18. I have a 5 1/2 ft (67") pair of Kimber 12TC for sale... asking $275 shipped. They are terminated at both ends with regular Kimber spades via the Cable Company were they were original purchased. These are great cables, there was a noticeable improvement when compared to the 8TC that I previously owned. With me just selling my Welborne monos, these are just a little too short for my new set up. Thanks for looking. .
  19. SOLD I bought this great amp back in Feb. 2014 from (I believe) the original owner. It has fantastic sound quality and has preformed perfectly for me driving my Cornscallas. I have just downsized by selling my preamp and will be going with just my Integrated amp for now. Here is a quote from my seller's 2014 classified: "Firstwatt F5 clone. Started as a Rawson F5 and then I did some internal upgrades to some of the board parts, as well as the grounding scheme. The correct grounding wires where not here to begin with, but have been added according to Papa Pass's directions. Great amp, spades and bare wire connections only, solid build in every way." As mentioned, it has some nice upgraded Cardas "clamp style" binding posts, so spades and bare wire need only apply. http://www.partsconnexion.com/product7453.html .
  20. Hey tk... PM returned. Thanks
  21. Here are a few pics of the 3: 45s. No date for the back up, in the RCA box. The matched pair that came from TC Tubes, have dates of 1950 and 1953 noted on their white boxes. .
