  1. Merry Christmas Baby, I hope all have a safe and very happy holiday.
  2. Its a bit taller and narrower, but not enought to make a difference where the room is concerned. Dave Dave, looking goood mang [Y]
  3. Dave the "Candy Man" Harris [8-|]
  4. That is nice, is it part of Bob's kit? Craig Thanks, from what I have read you cannot put enough bracing into these things. This is basically Bob's Style "C" plan but I had to modify it slightly due to my use of 1 inch Baltic Birch instead of 3/4". I wanted to stiffen the middle of the cabinet but not seal the top from the bottom so this is the design I came up with for the brace. The front baffle has the 1", plus another layer of 3/4" as the backing board. Volume wise, I still have a little room to brace the bottom and top panels.
  5. Here is a look at a both cabinets...
  6. I think that would look great. Your project is coming along nicely. Dave Thanks Dave, It is fun and at times a little frustrating as well due to available time, it is going a little slower than I thought it would. After tonights work, I am pretty sure I do see a spot for one of those DE-85TN thingies...
  7. Hmmmm... How would the DE-85TN look on the back side of that thing in the middle?
  8. Hey guys, Thanks very much for the suggestions, it is reassuring to get some guidance from all 3 of you guys! Right now I am leaning toward the Style C... I like the looks of the flush mount drivers as well as the larger tweeter. Bob echoes what you mentioned Justin, he also feels the Selenium D220TI Drivers with HM 11-25 Horns should offer a larger sweet spot. With this being my first attempt at building a speaker, I think I will try to stick as close as I can to Bob's design. If it turns out I find this as rewarding as you guys have, maybe I will look at some mods latter after I get a little more confident with how things work. With this in mind, after wading through a million old Cornscalla posts, the statement Justin made that I remember the most is; "For anyone building a cornscala, I strongly suggest you design some way of replacing the front baffle... allowing you to upgrade as you see fit without significant changes."
  9. I have recently been thinking about trying a Cornscala build and after looking at Bob's 4 different configurations, I am not sure which design would be the best route, that would deliver the best performance. Going through the old Cornscala posts, I see a ton of variants with only a couple builds using the "D" (2way) layout. I would like to stick with one of Bob's designs so that I can utillize all his components, and at least motherboards, as well as all the leg work he has done. Hoping some of you Cornscala veterans can help me with your experience and help get me going.
  10. Turbox, Hot Glue Gun worked for me... to put my badges onto the grill cloth. This was suggested to me by colterphoto1, Micheal knows his stuff... worked like a charm.
  11. I almost wish my new Cornwalls were in rougher shape, so that I could bring them down to you in TO for a make-over.
  12. Turbox, OUTSTANDING Job!!! Hot Glue Gun worked for me.
  13. Well Don, [^o)] In that case, I could offer you half of what you paid... [8-)]
  14. well that's one post that has me feeling a bit better today. Are you sure you want to part with those Khorns? They're beauties and my guess that in a couple of years they won't be made any more. In fact I'd bet a year's pay that in 5 years there is no more Klipsch Heritage whatsoever. Hey Michael,I hope your are VERY wrong with your 5 year prediction, not such a "warm, fuzzy feeling" around here right now. With my 2 youngest daughters working their way through university right now, I figured I should scale back a bit right now. I have really enjoyed the KHorns for the last 3 years since buying them from Claude, and I am hopeful that I will have another pair in a couple of years... or better yet a pair of Jubilees.
  15. Here is my colterphoto1 [^o)] Starter Kit: 1975 K-B-WL Klipschorns... 1986 BR Heresy IIs... Single 1977 BR La Scala... 1979 BR Cornwalls. Just thought I should post this while I still actually own them, '86 Heresys selling today and the '75 KHorns on Friday, wil still have the '79 Corns and single '77 La Scala:
  16. Here are both woofers, side by side...
  17. jorjen, Simply, Beautiful. Up until now, I thought Greg's Rosewood KHorns that he sent over to Russia were the very best looking speaker that I had ever seen on this forum. You Sir, have just raised the bar!
  18. CT, Congrats on the the speakers. Your side story kind of reminds me of the Seinfeld episode "The Mom and Pop Store"... JERRY: You bought a car because it belonged to Jon Voight? []
  19. Front view of the woofer...
  20. Here is a pic of one of my woofers...
  21. Mark, It is no wonder why you build (built) great Hi Fi, and why so many cherish your gear... You make sense [8]
  22. I am in the PP camp right now, with a Audio Space Galaxy 300... 21 wpc integrated with 4: 300Bs in PP. I am real enjoying the sound and find this amp to cover the most bases of any amp I have tried with my KHorns. With that said, the VERY best I have ever heard my system sound was when I was driving it with a pair of DRD45s. Unfortunatley, I keep looking for that extra OOMPH that the 2 wpc Welbornes could not muster. By far the most dynamic that the KHorns have sounded was with an Audio Space Galaxy 88, 4: KT88s in PP... I can see why so many love this configuration, ie. Macs, VRDs, etc. Like I said the 300B in PP seems to be a good all rounder for me, but I think if finances were not a concern, I would also have both a 45 SET and a KT88 sitting on the rack as well [Y]
  23. tapajeurs, Have a closer look, the HA-160D is a DAC, as well as a preamp, and a heaphone amp. Bruson's HA-160... minus the "D" for DAC is, just strictly a Headphone amp. The reason I suggested the 160D is that 6moon seemed to favour it over the Weiss DAC2 because the reviewer felt the Burson was more musical, see page 4 of the review, "Burson vs. Weiss as DACs:.." http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/burson5/4.html
  24. I have just decided to ad a DAC to my front end (Sony DVP NS9100ES) and I am considering 2 machines, the W4S DAC1 and the Burson HA-160D. Both are priced around 1Gr, a bit more than I initially figured but they both have gotten some pretty good recommendations, I am leaning toward the Burson, mainly due to the extra features above just a DAC: http://bursonaudio.com/HA_160D.html 6moon, seems to favour it over the Weiss Minerva aka DAC2... which many think this is one of the best DAC going! Did not see a price on the Audio Gd Dac, but if either of these 2 are in your budget, they might be worth a look.
