  1. Hey Guys, Surprising to me but not much action other than a few much appreciated compliments on these guys. 🤔 So, I have lowered the price from my original ask of $3600cnd down to $3300cnd.
  2. Ya Carl, those are the OG Peavey handles that I countersunk into the original spots to give a nice flush effect with the Walnut veneer. I like the look, and it does make it a little easier to move the cabinets around.
  3. Thanks wuzzzer! Thanks Shakeydeal These guys were a ton of work and they really did turn out great, and with all Chris's patience an help, they sound just as good as they look. I was also very lucky when I sourced the Walnut veneer. It took 2: 5 x10 ft sheets which happened to almost identical.
  4. Very sad!!! Great artist, different than his dad and his names sake, but still very, very good.
  5. Hey guys, I have lowered the price from my original ask of $3600cnd down to $3300cnd I have decided to list my active 2-way speaker system to make room for my next project. I started out with a pair of Peavey, FH-1 bass cabinets that I laminated with 1/2 inch Baltic Birch on all 6 sides via screws and PL. I swapped the drivers out for a pair of Crites cast woofers, Bob’s fantastic CW1526CF. For the hi frequency I went with the Klipsch K 510 horns which IMHO are only second to the mighty K 402! The 510s are backed with the very good Faital HF-200 compression drivers. All internal wiring is Supra PLY3.4 Speaker Wire, one of my favourite affordable speaker cables. https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/speaker-wire/supra-ply3.4-speaker-wire-per-foot-12-awg/ To house the K 510 / HF-200s, I built the Top Hats out of Baltic Birch and counter sunk the horns to give them a nice flush look. The HF-200s are a big compression driver, so I used a pair of Crites midrange horn/driver support brackets and pair of 2 inch gaskets to steady the ship. I used Black Duratex to refinish the insides of the FH-1 folds as well as coat the bottoms of the bass bins and top hats, then installed some rubber feet for each of the 4 cabinets. For the final touch I veneered the cabinets with flat cut Walnut and applied some Rubio Monocrat Oil 2C in Pure (Natural). I was able to book match all the cabinets pretty well, even looking down from the top with the top hats on the bass bins. I did take a bunch of build pics as I went along if anybody would like to see what all went on with these babies. Please keep in mind that these are designed to be run actively, I use a Xilica XP-4080 crossover with a SS amp on the bass bins and then a SET tube amp on the Hi Frequency. So you will need a similar active crossover or source a passive Xover from someone like Bob Crites or ALK Engineering. But, I really highly recommend active and I am more than happy to share my XP-4080 settings (THANKS, Chris) that have been dialled in for Crossover points, Time delay, EQ and Gains (although gains would need to be adjusted for what ever amps you use). This system is very fun to listen to and so far has only been bettered by the Klipsch Jubilee clones that I built several years back. If following distancing and mask protocol, a limited audition could be set up, but only for those very serious to buy. With the current travel bans across the Canada / USA borders, and the size of these, local sale is the only logistic sales route. So, lets hope we have a Klipsch forum member in the GTA or South Western Ontario area that would like these for their listening room. Asking $3,300cnd. Which is about $2,300usd. For more and better res pics, have a look here... https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649648769-klipsch-peavey-jub-peavey/ Thanks for looking.
  6. I just noticed this listing on Canuck Audio Mart: https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649635748-xilica-xp4080-4-way-electronic-crossover-dsp/ $700cnd is a pretty good price, a few years ago I think I paid about $1350cnd for mine, brand new. With the USA - Canadian exchange rate, this could also be attractive, even with shipping to The States.
  7. I had to double check, but I started my Jub-Likes near the end of November, 2016 and finished them Feb. 5th, 2017. You were a ton of help getting me started, and if I am not mistaken at the finish by passing on the HF-200s that went on the backs of my 402s. But during a major panic attack which turned me temporarily insane, I sold them in the spring of 2018. 😟 https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/175987-for-sale-jubilee-clones-toronto-area/
  8. jorjen, is for sure the race winner when it comes the most beautiful Jub-like creation... ever! Mine, I mean Claude's, I mean who ever he passed them of to turn out pretty nice. I was lucky enough to get some technical advise from jorjen and jwc when I was in the planning stages... Thanks again! When deciding hop to handle the K402s, I was inspired how jorjen gave his the look of a Klipshorn B cabinet, you can see my take on that approach.

    What I Got Today!

BEAUTIFUL baby Rotty! We have always had 2 dogs at a time, usually 1 Golden and 1 GSD. They have all been males with the exception of one female German Shepherd in the mix. I loved her, but she swore me off ever having another female dog. Our current Male GSD and our new Rhodesian that I showed earlier (both Males), are getting along fabulously... so far. Congrats on the new addition A1UC!

    What I Got Today!

Rich, I do like the STP very much. It has only been used in front of my Xilica XP-4080 which in turn feeds the TL 2A3 for the 402s and the Classe, CA-150 for the FH-1s. It has all the connectivity that I could need with multiple XLR ins and out along with single ended connections. But you are correct about it being VERY quiet!!! Last weekend I rolled my newly refinished La Scalas out from the garage to the patio by the pool and then ran a pair of 25ft XLR cables from the STP out to a pair of bridged Crown D-75s. Instant remote system with volume control, via the gain knobs on the D-75s

    What I Got Today!

The new, to me, EMLs will be going in my Triode Labs amp that powers my K402 atop the Peavey bins. I can not really complain about the JJs that are in there now but am really looking forward to doing some listening this weekend with the new bottles in there.

    What I Got Today!

I always wanted to try these tubes, but the brand new price of these scared the H#!! out of me! I came across these used on Canuck Audio Mart at a decent price and pulled the trigger...
  13. I am using Bob's cast woofers in the FH-1s.
  14. Claude, When Chris and I last spoke, he got me very interested in getting a pair of BMS 4592NDs for the 402s / FH-1s!!! That would be my most logical move to try to improve what is already very good, to my ears. Now that my LSs are nicely refurbished, I can think more about building 4 of those LAB12TH subs to spread around the 2channel room with the 402s / FH-1s. My 4 drivers are just sitting here collecting dust. 😳
  15. Hey Claude, That's hard to say. I have only had them in the same room once and with my FH-1 playing with the 402s vs the LSs with their stock squawker/tweeter... very different.
  16. Thanks Randy! With the 1/2in BB laminated to the top, bottom, and both sides, they are only 1 inch wider and 1 inch taller. As Geoff mentions, should give the cabinets a little more integrity as well as a clean surface to work with. Carl had suggested on one of my sub builds to use a 3/16in round over with the router, which is were I started on all the edges and squawker and tweeter cut outs. IMHO, with the now 1.25in thickness of the outer panels, it seemed that 3/16in was not enough round over so I then redid the edged with a 3/8in bit. I left the horn cut outs at 3/16in. The coating is Duartex mixed with 5% water and rolled on with the Duartex roller. It did turn out nice and smooth, but it was so humid up here at the time, I had a couple sweat droplets from by bald forehead drop on as I was working so I may give them a light sanding and cover them again. When it is not so bloody hot. 😰
  17. The ALs have long since made their way to the Georgina Transfer Station. The were pretty cruddy 😷, the AAs I got lived their whole life inside a pair of inclosed Industrials. They might spend the rest of the summer in the garage and then make the odd appearance out by the pool for social distancing BBQ'ing. I do want to hear them in an outdoor setting, with a little power behind them. Then, they will probably make their way back down to the basement in the TV room. I have a very nice looking Sansui AU-717 down in Ottawa with LeeStereo (Audiokarma) getting a full restore/upgrade that will be driving the LSs once back in the basement.
  18. Thanks Geoff, When I started writing my above "brag post", I realized it actually took me over 2 years to get there. 🤔 If they didn't play when I got them, it might have motivated me a little more but I was content to listen rather than look at them. Now I can do both. 🤓
  19. Back at the end of 2018 I took a flyer on a pair of very beat up La Scalas that I came across on CAM that were somewhat local to me. When I first saw them I really was not sure if I wanted to tackle them, even at the price. https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649485658-klipsch-la-scala-speakers/ I didn't even check to see if they played, the drivers and Xovers were the least of the worries for this ugly ducklings! Once I got them home, I fired them up in the garage and after fiddling with the Xover connections, I got them to play and they didn't sound all that bad. They still looked awful so I then went to scrapping off all the crappy vinyl peel and stick that some genius decided to apply to them. This revealed a very poor exterior, major chips and missing part of the top layer the Birch. That's how they sat in my basement TV room, playing fine until a few month ago when I dragged them out to the garage to do a refurbish job. Fortunately this February I scored a pair of all original, minty Type AAs on Cam for $150cnd. https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649590390-klipsch-type-aa-crossovers/ I do have a pair of Jupiters and a quad of Blue Cactus caps sitting here with plans of a pair of Full Monty networks, but have not followed up on that yet. Rather than try to fill all the numerous blemishes I decided to do similar that I did with my Peavey FH-1 bins and laminate the exterior with 1/2 BB via screws and PL. Unlike the FH-1s, I decided to give them more of an Industrial look, even got some handles and then replica badges from Burton on FleaBay. And, here they are...
  20. Not sure where you are Ryan, I am in the GTA. My work is only a bit over a hour drive from Niagara Falls, NY so I "normally" would have stuff shipped there and drive down and pick it up. With no cross border travel for the foreseeable future, shipping directly to Canada should ONLY be done via USPS/Can Post! Shipping may take a bit longer than UPS, FedX, etc... but CanPost will not rape you with brokerage fees like UPS, FedX will. I agree with MC, sourcing caps for your Type Es is easily done via Canadian vendors such as Solen, Parts Conexxion. But if you need new ATs, Bob is probably the way to go.
  21. Up here in Canada, everybody lives in an Igloo and knows everybody, even if one lives in PEI and one lives in Victoria. Another tongue in cheek, huge wink 😜. I was just kidding Ryan on his name that made me think of a Canadian cult classic TV show, called, "The Trailer Park Boys" Mr, Jim Lahey was a very memorable character in the series.
  22. Hey ryan, are you from Down East... and is it Jim and you changed the spelling from Lahey to Lahay so no one would recognize your name? Huge wink 😜 Love me some Trailer Park Boys!!! As I suggested in your other thread... Crites 😎
  23. The way I see it, Bob is one of the three or so go2 guys around here for crossover help. He is also probably the one that stays closest to the OEM Klipsch formula. The other two gurus are Dean and ALK, who try to extract more out of their networks. Bob's Xovers are Klipsch designs, just updated with modest caps that are new and not old and tired like the 20, 30 , 40 year old worn out ones that came from the factory.
  24. Ya, and a couple or so years ago when I built my 4Pi speakers, I think I paid about $200 each, plus shipping for 3 used ones from sales baron on FeaBay. So, this is a very good price on these primo JBLs!!!
  25. I am not sure about Crite ATs matching exactly what is in your Xover, maybe shoot Bob a call and ask. Allow me 😇 to spend some more of your money Ryan. If you are going to the time and expense to refinish the outsides, I would suggest redoing the crossovers by either: Buying 2 new autotransformers, and Bob's repair kit. Model 3636 $38.00 each. REBUILD KIT FOR THE KLIPSCH TYPE E CROSSOVERS: $48.00 pair. Or, for the more expensive and lazier route: New pair of TYPE E CROSSOVERS: $191.00 pair.
