  1. You can pay $240 for new with full warranty and free shipping. If Klipsch charges $30 shipping that would be like $60 more for new with warranty.
  2. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=194072See the one that looks like a copper fan? With no fan, upper left? A large case fan blowing on those is very quiet.
  3. At http://3dss.com/ , upper right corner is a banner ad for the Boostaroo, check it out. This message has been edited by rol1 on 08-10-2002 at 10:16 AM
  4. Depends if masters are available.
  5. This one's new, and has 7.1 preamp-outs; http://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp?AuctionId=7699284
  6. Do not select LFE, subwoofer, or whatever sends the bass to the sub channel. You want the 4 full range signals going to the 4.1's. The Klipsch sorts out the frequencies on their own. The name 4.1 doesn't refer to 4.1 channels like 5.1 does. I guess somebody just counted the boxes and named them.
  7. At UBid; Marantz SR5000 350 watts Dolby Digital® and DTS® reviewed here; http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_7_3/marantz-sr-5000-receiver-8-2000.html I know, auctions.
  8. Does the DD5.1 let you select which digital input to use? Are you sure it doesn't disable one if the other is connected? It only has stereo analog input so there isn't any multi-channel gaming. When trying to get the aiw radeon working with a via mb I read that Cinemaster, the maker of ATI's player, was coming out with a 5.1 compatable player. Their new software doesn't mention anything but s/pdif pass-through though. If you want full hardware support you'll need to use ATI's player. Which only supports stereo through computer's audio or s/pdif passthrough to a external decoder for ac3 or dts. The Panasonic SH-AC500 does all that you want, . They're hard to find now but a lot of receivers have external decoder support.(6 rca's in and 6 rca's out)
  9. The one up front has stereo analog and needs a decoder for 5.1. But this Toshiba don't http://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp?AuctionId=7577480
  10. Even if you use a 4.1 control pod you won't have the rear channels. If you use splitters you will split the sig level to 2 inputs. That would do something, wouldn't it? Lower volume, more noise? And if you are talking about line-level outs then you really won't have much to split. I have noticed that soundcards, and portable players give different volume levels. For $20 you can get a Boostaroo headphone amp that gives plenty of sig for 3 sets of headphones.(or 1 set of headphones and the v2's) http://www.boostaroo.com/
  11. That sounds like prologic kicking in. You have 3 groups of settings that could affect the output. Power-dvd has settings related to digital output. Windows and your soundcard's control panel has some more. The dd5.1 has some trickie ways to set their outputs. If anyone of these falls back to stereo, you're back in prologic.
  12. Well like I ask, how much do you think they are worth? Shipping alone will probally be $30 to $40 for each set.
  13. Didn't see $249 at bestbuy.com but are $249 at vanns.com, shipped
  14. I'll take 'em. Where, how much? Shipping's a liability.
  15. Is the $50 off from the front page going to apply at Klipsch venders also?
  16. Depending how far away your rear sats are, most of the way up. Get a balance.

Sounds like you're in dolby surround mode. Are the rears muddie and without seperation? Check Justin's Soundwize site for settings for soundcard, player software, and the dvd's movie sound choices.

If you are shuting down all that, then your playback ain't right anyways. When you boot look to see if your video card shares resources with another device. With early drivers for the Via chipset and the ATI Radeon I would manually reassign scsi and network card to leave irq 11 open for the agp.
  20. Music DTS, AKA CD-DTS decoding in hardware is usually with $700 receivers. Now the software can, all 50 disks.

  25. I've been torture testing my v2-400's for awhile. Bought 2 sets of z560's @ $111 ea. I had them set side-by-side. The Klipsch got all the play. The z560's were flat, had to turn the bass all the way down not to overpower the sats. Sold 1 set in a system and gave the other to my daughter. I kept the v2-400's.
