  1. I can't remember which part of the BB I saw it on but someone had a picture of some RC-3's that were white and mounted on their ceiling. They said that they sounded good and IMHO were asthetically pleasing. One thing that might help the front placement is to move the RF-3 on the right of your TV so that it is equal distant from the TV as the left. May not be necessary but you might notice an improvement. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  2. Anyone know about a good AB switch. I have my DVD player hooked up to a RF adapter because my tv is without a s-video input. The 1st one I used was one of the $3 rat shack slide switches and it was fuzzy sometimes. I replaced it with a $10 ABC switch that has push buttons and now there are faint rolls on the TV. Like scan lines but a little different. I know it isn't the cables because this didn't happen with the 1st switch. Actually, the first switch was decent but if you didn't slide it just right, it left a little snow on the screen.
  3. I fortunately live in a town that just started digital CATV. But I thought that I read in TPV that HDTV signals were NOT being sent across cable lines yet. Guess I better just call them and hopefully not get the same experience you did Ray. I did read an article in either Home Theater or The Perfect Vision that made it sound like HDTV isn't going anywhere. Too many NTSC people loosing money because the HDTV band is free. I hope that I didn't read this wrong. Maybe I should just buy a NTSC TV. Which means I can't go as big since my TV sits 2" short of 9 feet from my sitting position.
  4. Then what are my options. I plan on buying a HDTV by summer and to get the benifits I would need satellite. Most HDTV signals come from the channels you mentioned (HBO and stuff too) So how do I get the Digital picture and surround to my main TV and a signal to the other 2 rooms without subscribing to satellite and CATV. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?

    DBS

I don't have satellite yet because the idea of having seperate tuners really annoys me. Then I got to thinking (oh no) and wanted to know if the coax from the satellite comes into the house and connects to the receiver, then the receiver connects to the tv? right. What I was wondering is, if it is possible to connect the coax to the place it enters the house, thus routing it to all the tv's in the house. I know that all the tv's would have to watch the same channel at the same time but that doesn't matter. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  6. someone else pushed me toward them. The ones I looked at were on the partsexpress.com web page. Just do a search for channels plus. If you get one let me know how well it works. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  7. Anyone? ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  8. Anyone using one of these channels plus boxes? The main reason I haven't gone DSS is that I can't run it to all the rooms of my house. But with Channels Plus I can. But at what cost? Feedback please. If you are using it with a DVD player give me some input on that too. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  9. My Sony DA555ES doesn't have Multi room/Multi Source (that I am aware of. The manual sucks). Does anyone know of a good way to send my signal from my DVD player to another room in the house without running a 200' cable. I know radio shack sells a 2.4 gigahertz box (similar to the rabbit of yesterday, remerber those). Anyone know how well these work and where to get one cheaper than $100. Basically, I am just trying to decide between this route and a cheap DVD player for the bedroom. Thanks for the advice and sorry for the long post. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  10. I have the DA-555ES and love it. I think that it was a real price at $1000 msrp (I only paid $500 as a benifit of my wife working for sony). Never one once of trouble in the 1.5 years that I have had it. I hear Denon is a nice match but I would have to buy the 5800 to get any real upgrade and that is $3000 compared to $1000. The only thing that I don't have that I would have liked is Dual room/Dual source capabilities. By the way I have the reference line and can't imagine them sounding better on another receiver. (maybe because I upgraded from another Sony) ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  11. There is a lot of debate about this as well as the improvment from any cable modification. The best thing to do is try it for your self with some cheaper wire. If you like it then use better wire. I will say that I found it to be a better listening experience (bi-wire that is). Don't forget to take the brass couplings off otherwise you'll need new speakers. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  12. Question about the center channel if you don't mind. I have a RC-3 and it resides under my TV on a shelf in my entertainment center. It is a little lower than I would like but it is in the only asthetic position I have. The RC-3 has that crazy spike to angle it down (if placed too high) but there is nothing to angle it up. The question is, what can be placed under the front of a RC-3 to raise the front up but not detreact from the sound or what little bass it produces. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  13. I only have one couch in my listening area so I chose to toe them in a little. I guess if I had another couch then I would probably leave them straight so as to give everyone in the room equal listening enjoyment ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  14. 2 ways. The first is to use y sonnectors to make 2 cables into 4. The way that I think you are really talking about is in the electronics itself. This way the processor controls the way that speakers are played in order to "project" a "phantom" signal. My Sony reciever does this in many ways. The first is to make surround channels when there are not any surround speakers. I think that it all has to do with the reverberation time and a few other factors. I am not really all that knowledgeable in the exact breakdown. I can tell you that the virtual cinema on my Sony adds fantom side surrounds to my reart and it sounds really good. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  15. It was posted in the Home Theater section of this BB that the RSW-15 MSRP is going to be $1700. I am not sure if this is true or not.. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  16. quote: Originally posted by cwcole: I am curious, what speaker cables did the Klipsch booth use on that setup at CES 2001? Did anyone get a close look at them? If not it is of no importance...just curiosity. You beat me to the punch. I saw those cables and thought, hmmmm, what could those be. I know that everyone is wishy-washy about the whole cable thing but IMHO I think that they DO help. Thinking about going with XLO. But whatever they are using looks impressive. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  17. Hey, you guys think that now that the CES is over that we could get Klipsch to add a "Coming Soon" section to this web page? ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  18. May????? You aren't as cunning as I thought! I believed that you of all people would've found a way to smuggle all of us some new Klipsch from the CES!!!! LOL. Thanks for the info. Of course this means that I will have to save my money and wait on the new sub. Too bad my reference system is less than 6 months old and that I won't be able to talk the wife into the series. When is the the next powerball lottery! ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  19. Someone out there that has either of these tell me which is better. Anandtech can't make up my mind. It gives the Radeon some good scores but then the CL is a 250mhz card. Compared to the 150mhz of the radeon I can't see how it is any good compared to the CL. All the extras mean nothing because I have an extensive home theater so my DVD drive is just there to run cd's. And sometimes DVD audio. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  20. How is the Radeon? Anandtech.com gave it semi-OK reviews. The biggest problem that it had was the fact that it really sucks in 16 bit. Now in the future this may not even be an issue but now there are still plenty of games in 16 bit. Especially the ones that I buy for my 4 year old. He may not care that it looks like crap but I will. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?

    10,000 RPM

Anyone know anything about the new 10000rpm HDs? Are they worth the extra cash? ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  22. Would it still be a pain in the a$$ if you found a friend over here to buy the parts from a reputable co. that is cheap and then mail them to you. Might be an option to avoid all the extra taxes and what not.
  23. You really are into this BB aren't you. When I noticed that you were building your computer for this BB I got to thinking. You are at like 1210 posts now, that is like 5/day since you joined. I guess it is like your category says "no life," just kidding. I wish I had the time to play on this page. Best of luck with the computer rebuild. When are you planning on doing it. Mine will probably be at the beginning of Jan. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  24. Can't wait to see the pics. Hury up and get them on here. Of course a pic for each and every component would be nice. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money?
  25. I posted this on the webpage link of the BB in hopes that we can get this done. Please everyone go to that link and put in a few words of support. If we can get enough people together, maybe Klipsch will do it. I mentioned this elswhere on the BB and got some good feedback. I think that it would be a great idea if the speaker matching chart was enlarged to include discontinued models. There are a lot of people out there that either have or are buying older Klipsch speakers from various places. Looking over this BB there are numerous threads from people wanting to know about how well different models match up. And since the speaker matching chart only includes currene models, it is of no use to anyone except those that are just starting their relationship with Klipsch. I am sure that this would not be an easy task but, once it is done it will be easy to maintain. As new models come out, just add them to the chart. As for the man(women)power, I am sure that the conglomerate known as Klipsch has someone that could put this together. If not, I bet there are numerous people on this BB that would be glad to help. Myself included. Thank you for your attention in this matter and hopefully in the future people will be able to find out if a specific model matches their pair of Hershey's, or whatever speaker they have.
