  2. Excellent Post, Many people will find that helpful and it will help me out rather than always typing out how to do it for people. Thank you very much!
  3. yes, you can do that or you can check out this http://cgi.ebay.com/Repair-cable-Klipsch-ProMedia-2-1-Control-Pod-DIY-/170662982865?pt=PCA_Speakers&hash=item27bc4e74d1
  4. you need a cound card, lol. th output of whatever you are using needs to be a 5.1 device, if it is analog 5.1 there will be outputs for each speaker, if it is digital then you will need digital to analog converter. but either case, it has to be a surround sound system, if the laptop sound card does not support 5.1 surround then you can not use it with surround speakers, you will need to get a different sound card (probably external)for the laptop.
  5. correct, each channel (left and right) has its own fuse as well. you have to open the sub by removing the rear panel to access them.
  6. the sub takes 2 amo fuses and the channels each take a 2.5 amp fuse. both fuses are fast blowing fuses I believe. I have these fuses in stock and can ship quick if you need them right away. 50 cents each plus $3 shipping.
  7. That depends more on what sound card your computer has. I used to have mine at around 80% With some kind of Ctreative Platinum Sound Car. Basically, what i would probably do if I were you would be tto put the volume up to around 75% on the control pod, and then then adjust the computer volume up to a louder comfortable volume then bring the klipsch volume back down as use that volume or the computer volume as needed, which ever is easiest.
  8. Why not buy stuff that is made for this type of work, Like DeOxit PowerBooster and DeOxit Fader Lube. I use them and they work great, I wouldn't touch my equipment with Brake Cleaner. Some people say WD-40, I wouldn't recommend that either.
  9. The speakers they are talking about sound to me like the ProMedia Ultra 2.0 speakers. Which speakers do you have?
  10. I have used them before and still have 2 brand new sets still in the boxes direct from klipsch if you want them. but when I was using mine ,they sounded great. the only stand alone 2.0 computer/multimedia speakers i have ever heard that were better (in my opinion) were the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0 speakers. Both sound better than the Bose, Polk, JBL (again, my opinion)
  11. From what I recall I am thinking the speakers are actually a 6ohm speaker, not 4 or 8. I believe they are 6ohm, it has been a while since I dealt with ohm reatings on these speakers, but I am about 70% sure they were 6 ohm, lol.
  12. That doesn't make any sense to me. the same audio signal from the 1/8" connector feeds the sub and the sats. it is acrossover setup in the internal amp circuitry that tells which audio frequency to send to each of the speakers. if the sub works on one device it should work on all. unless of cource theoutput on the deive is set to higher frequencies only. but then the sats would sound very trebley. So I have no idea what is going on with that, as I said, it doesn't make any sense to me. but please keep us posted as to how things work out.
  13. does wiggling the cable that attaches the controler to the rear of the sub have any affect? also, if it is that new you should qualify for a free replacement controller direct from klipsch. Contact Klipsch Tech Support. Find that Best Buy Receipt.
  14. It is likely the DIN connector which is the circular connector that plkugs the controller into the SUB. usually when something like this happens after a system has been moved the DIN is the problem. sometimes it can be an obvious brea, other times it can just be a wire or two that seperate inside the DIN. I change these DINS for people all the time, if interested you can send me your controller and i will change the DIN for you. If you have a voltage meter ou can run a test yourself to see if you have good contact going to each of the pins from the inside of the controller.
  15. it is perfectly safe, won't hurt anything. the 8 ohm speaker won't draw as much power from the amps so they will not strain at all powering them but as a drawback the sats won't be as loud as normal klipsch sats. clarity will depend still on the drivers themselves as well as the built in crossover setup inside the speakers you install. I recommend using the regular klipsch promedia speakers. I will be listing some cheap on ebay soon. then the next best thing to do is upgrade the speaker wires to the monster brand wires or my aftermarket wires which are also on ebay.
  16. it could just be a bad DIN connection. cheap enough to fix if that is the case. you can get the service on ebay for $33 and that includes return shipping.
  17. CP-1's are hard to come by these days, I do have a v.2-400 controller I would be willing to let go. The pots might just need cleaning and lubrication. that is where I would start. If needed I would be willing to take care of that for you if you ship it out to me.
  18. I think I can do that size, but it would be the gold, not silver, the part would come off of a 4.1 or 2.1 subwooofer.
  19. how wide and how tall? I have some 4.1 and 2.1 subs, if it is the same i can pull one off and sell it.
  20. Absolutely i can, I just did 2 yesterday. $40 is my charge for the 5.1 and 5.1 Ultra DIN replacement, that charge covers return shipping within the USA.
  21. I would try removing the BASH chip, clean the contacts and re-insert it. if the BASH is bad a new one might be able to be ordered from Harmon Kardon (they were available a year ago anyways). to me it sounds like the BASH.
  22. Very good, I am glad to hear. I have been pre trimming my new shipment of cables as well so nobody else willl have to trim their's themselves anymore. I am sorry about the issues you had and thank you for bringing it to my attention so I can resolve it. Keep those systems pumping!
  23. Sure you can, I would limit the sats to 6 or 8 ohm and you will still need to use a klipsch controller to the sub. but why would you even want to do that? The ProMedia 2.1 sats are easy to find and cheap enough to buy. just wondering....
  24. Put the stock wires on Ebay, they will sell for $5 to $10 or so. lol
  25. I might have one a can sell, i will have to check in my storage unit next week when I am there again, but I am pretty sure a have a few of the GMX sats.
