    Looks like a Jackson/,Rickybacker

Funny you say that, the sales rep referred to this as if Fender and Rickenbacaker had a baby.

  2. My son has been learning how to play bass and has been taking lessons for a few months now.  Since I will never pass up the opportunity to purchase musical instruments, when he asked for his own bass for his birthday, I figured why not.  We went to Guitar Center a week or so ago where he tried a few lower end models that were within our budget.  Unfortunately, the one he liked was out of our budget, which was a black and white Jackson X series concert bass.

Today I went in to pick up one that he was settled on and right as I walked in was the X series on clearance for half the price.

Sales rep:  Would you like to try that out?

Me: No not today my good man, I'm feeling saucy, I think I'm going to buy it.

  3. My wife is wanting to dabble in interior design software, but as a hobbyist.  She claims she wants a Chromebook, not sure why, but regardless, any suggestions for a good option for interior design software and any recommendations for interior design software.

    I'd forget about cassettes

You'd be surprised, apparently there's still a market for them and I believe a couple years back, sales were up.

I'm a 2 media source type of guy.  I still like collecting and listening to vinyl but enjoy hi res downloads for convenience.  My source of vinyl is to try to go new through online retailers and from bands direct site as they release new pressings and for hi res I like HD tracks.  Both can get costly, that's why I make it a point to purchase an album every pay day.  At times I will purchase a cd from ebay if its one I can't find a hi res download or quality vinyl.  Recently I ordered a CD copy of Uncle John's Band off of ebay for $7.00 with great results.   I will then take and rip with EAC and save to my ROON folder for convenience.

I would love to wall mount mine but it’s in a basement with exposed concrete walls and I don’t want to mess around with that at all.

No tools?  I'll be in Sauk Rapids next week, I can bring a hammer drill over.

I'll be interested to hear whether the new amplifier design is expected to be more reliable than the current design. Hopefully the components subject to overheating will have been beefed up and located away from other sensitive components.

I would be interested in what the actual failure rate is compared to other leading sub brands.  Also note that Klipsch is now offering a 5 year warranty, which is what SVS offers.   Regardless on how you feel about putting a label on a box, I believe its them acknowledging the issue and doing what they can to back it up.  Good companies don't sell products based on the idea that it won't break, but how they handle it.

  7. Are you handy? I've got a tube line stage SP12 from Tubes4hifi that I may be willing to part with.  It may need some work to make a little nicer looking.  Pm me if interested. Its a 4 tube 12au7 line stage.  Now discontinued and replaced with the SP14.  See link below, though no talk of the SP 12, maybe you can find something of interest on the site.  Looking at prices of new items, it would be hard going used.

    http://www.tubes4hifi.com/pre12.htm

It would be similar to the SP13 minus the remote.

People who live off fast food, sugary espressos and massive intakes of junk / processed foods "need" a diet change if weight loss or good health is the desired result. Over-eating is an issue of course but don't think most people are getting fat eating bags of carrots or broccoli.

It's crazy how our society lives on fast food, pre made dinners, and ultra processed food.   You can see it clearly in the mid west where there is alot of over weight people in poor health.   Yet they won't come to terms that it's better to eat 3 eggs, oat meal, and black coffee at home versus Casey's breakfast pizza and Starbucks.

If these people switch to more home cooked meals, they'd loose 40 lbs in a couple of months.  But hey, what else is there to do in Nebraska?

  9. I was able to play with the system a bit and run audyssey and a huge difference it made.  Still need to learn some stuff such as running both subs independently and also try to see if I can run a 2 channel format with subs.  Room is still a mess and under construction,  but hopefully by summer it's setup correctly.

I just added a Marantz AV7704 to my home theater, made huge difference in sound compared to my old integra dtr 40.2.

Why would anyone go back to a exponential metal or composite midrange horn from a wooden tractrix. Do you like headaches and listening fatigue that much?

Most may not, but that's why I said the "purist" as in those who are hung up on it being fully Klipsch.  I could care less about what mods are done, to each their own.

Or you could just enjoy them.  Is this really worth your time?

Greg does really nice work.  It was nice when he was still contributing here.

I agree, i wasn't looking at it as an investment opportunity.  But to answer your question, I doubt you'd get 12k for used Khorns with OEM horns and drivers regardless of the veneer.

Purchase and enjoy as is or divert back to OEM.

A timely thread as I sip on a black and tan.

Thanks to Costco and their 18 packs of Guinness, Harps, and Smithwick, I too have been enjoying some Black and Tans.
