  1. What's your budget? If your budget is tight, get the one that has the features you need. BTW, Welcome to the Klipsch Forums, we're glad you're here. Dennie
  2. No, you really can't bend the needle back. It needs to be replaced. This one is hard to beat for the price.... Here is the amazon link -----> CLICK HERE You may find it cheaper if you look around at Needle Doctor or B&H Photo etc. But $71 is a great price for this cart. Good luck and keep us posted. Dennie
  3. That sounds like a fair price, if you want them, I'd say get them. I paid $1500 for my all original 1979 La Scalas, added new crossovers for $300 shipped and they are now priceless, to me! Dennie
  4. Hi David and Welcome to the Klipsch Forum. We're glad you're here! [<)] The first thing I would do is invest in some longer speaker wires and spread those babies farther apart. Then, I would do as Gary suggests, update those old capacitors. The difference will be amazing. Since you are on a tight budget, try moving them (with your longer speaker wires[]) into the corners of the room for some bass reinforcement. That may be enough to allow you to enjoy them as is, while you save up for a good subwoofer. Keep us posted and enjoy, Dennie
  5. Thoughts and Prayers for you and your family Dean. Dennie....
  6. So true! What's that saying? "It takes a lot of money to figure out you don't need to spend a lot of money...." [:S] Dennie []
  7. Hey Tommy, if the speaker is 20+ years old, it would probably benefit from new capacitors or crossovers. I bought new crossovers from Bob and Michael Crites for my La Scalas. So, all I had to do was loosen screws and change them out, one wire at a time. If you decide to just do the "Caps" then someone here can help walk you through it or send them to Bob and Michael and have them do it. Only you can decide how you want to do it. Do a search here, as there have been many threads on "Caps" and "Crossovers". As far as the rusted screws, yes replace them and check the speaker for any moisture damage. I've never opened a Forte, so someone else will have to help with that. How do you like them? Keep us posted, Dennie
  8. Not really. This usually does it... Dave ............. Thanks Dave, I've already had an offer! [] Dennie
  9. No wonder I still have my pig...... I need to contact THAT guy! Dennie....
  10. It is not a bad price, but it seems a little high. Depends on condition and how much you want to pay. If they are in your budget and work well, I think you'll be happy with them. Keep us posted, Dennie
  11. Nice, a free upgrade! Congratulations on winning the DVD Player and the upgrade in sound. [<)] Dennie
  12. Yeah, I like to keep my "islands" a little smaller, this was our biggest concern on Oahu..... Dennie
  13. Hey Boxx, I was stationed in Hawaii (Schofield Barracks, 25th Infantry Division (Light)) and there were no snakes there either. I think it has to do with it being an Island! Dennie
  14. They only have GREEN snakes now!!! .... Dennie
  15. A very long time, don't worry about age, go get them. I have 3 pair the same age or older, no problems. The only thing that may be required later is new caps in the crossover only to bring them back to original sound, they will still work normally. I have yet to do that on any of mine and no problems at all. I waited about a year to update the crossovers (capacitors) on my La Scalas and boy was I wrong. What a freakin' huge difference. I only thought they sounded good before the updates. When I asked Bob Crites if it would REALLY make a difference to update the crossovers, he just laughed and said "Yes"! Boy was he right. Here is the link to Bob and Michael Crites site -----> CLICK HERE (you too Dtel) Don't worry Tommy, with updated electronics (simple to do, if I can do it), those Fortes can sound spectacular!!! Please keep us posted (both of you, LOL) Dennie Dennie is right, what i was trying to say and didn't really do a good job is, don't worry about crossovers as far as should you get them or not, it's something you can always do later they will still work until then. New caps alone make a big difference, more than i was expecting to hear on another speaker i have. I would love to do my forte's, at least the front three but will wait a little while. I would like to find another design that is not stacked and hard to work on. Well Said! So Tommy? Any news? Dennie
  16. Wait, what!?? ....... ..... Dennie []
  17. Or Not! Happy St. Patricks Day, Jeeper!! Dennie

  19. He mentioned the albums a long time ago and had told him if he wanted to get rid the albums let me know, I didn't expect that low of a price though... I did a quick count and it is well over 300 LPs You should have seen the look on my wife's face when she seen them piled in the living room Because of the price she couldn't argue Sweet and hopefully, she will like some of them too! [A] A friend called one evening and said, "if you want this ladies record collection, you have to come right now". So at 7pm I left to go see what was there. At 1am, my friend is helping me unload over 2000 albums, anywhere and everywhere we could find to put them. She had an amazing collection, which I now cherish! SCORE!!!! [<)] My back still hurts and that was a number of years ago! LOL Ouch!! [] Dennie
  20. Very Cool David! [<)] I always recommend telling friends and family and friends of friends and friends you haven't met yet, that you'll be glad to store there OLD record collection for them. I've probably picked up 500 records this way. It never hurts to ask and I'm often surprised by what I get! Congratulations on the Record Score!! Dennie
  21. Sweet!!! [<)] Although shipping might break the bank, that is a great AVR for the price. [Y] Dennie
  22. It can be overwhelming. Does this one have the features you need.... CLICK HERE Onkyo TX-NR509 5.1 Channel Network A/V Receiver Dennie
  23. Good Stuff! [Y] I have the Elite VSX-41 and use it as a Pre/processor with a Adcom GFA 555 (200wpc) and I can barely turn it up. I love it. [<)] IIRC it was $800/$1000 new. Source components are an Elite DV 79avi ($1000 new) universal player and a Pioneer (not Elite [:$]) PL -55x Turntable. It has that "synergy" and really works well together. But, Sekal is just starting out and has a smaller budget. The AVR's of today are amazing for the price. With a $300 budget, get the features you need. Dennie
  24. Hey Sekal, in your price range, don't worry about "specks" too much, get the one that has the features you want. Yes, you can use a 5.1 or7.1 AVR for 2 channel listening, without any problems. A lot of us do that. One thing I would look for is that it has "Pre-Outs", so you can add a separate amp for the mains, if you so desire. Stereo or 2 channel receivers in the same price range will often (but not always) be better than a 5 or 7 channel AVR. Typically they will have a better power supply and amp section, since your only powering 2 channels, instead of 5 or 7, for the same price. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask and keep us posted, Dennie
  25. Hey Jess, That is kind of strange. Did you look for fuses that may be blown? You may have to open the unit up to look for internal fuses. Did you try unplugging the unit for 10 minutes? Sometimes this resets the unit. Or holding in the power button for 10 seconds or whatever the manual suggests for a reboot to factory specs. Are all wire and cables connected at both ends, ie.. CD player, Computer, Speaker, etc...? Keep us posted, Dennie
