  1. Are you cash strapped or just looking for more storage room? If not cash strapped, hand em down to family, with the option to retain if ever they want to get rid of them. That might be easier and cheaper than getting rid of the wife..............oh yeah.............. do I dare mention this?................... Those speakers wont cook your dinner or bring you your slippers! Oh boy.

Disclaimer: I am not a Male Chauvinist Pig. I play one on the internet though. Just kidding to all our wonderful wives/ladies out there. Just kidding.  :D

  4. Ive said it many times but here is what I have finally learned thru trial and error. Look at the options with any pre or AVR you are considering. If a pre, you really have most of the things covered that you dont have to worry about with AVR (preouts, 12v trigger etc). But look at the remote, the room corrections software, pass through, the size of display, 4K? etc.

With AVR's there is a few more things I look at like, preouts, 12v trigger and make sure triggers are assignable, power, room correction, HDMI pass through, display size, what class of amp (A/B D etc), the remote... are buttons real small? Backlit remote? Fits in the hand OK? 4K? 3D? etc. One advantage to AVR is you can use the onboard amps for your surrounds (or whatever) and let the amp take care of the fronts.

And of course the obvious. Do you want 5.1? 7.1? 7.2? 9.2? etc.

  5. My Lil Cocker Spaniel dam near got me killed. When my son was racing Motocross, I would pick him up from school and take him to practice. I kept seeing "that look" that dogs give you when they know you are leaving. I couldnt stand it so I started taking her with us. Then it turned out she went to every practice and every race with me for years after that first time. In the motorhome, she would ride on the back of my chair as I was driving, half way laying on my shoulders and the seat. She was quite the show for the fellow MX'ers. Became everybodys friend.

One time during a very busy practice, a kid crashed on the track and as parents, we would help flag if need be. I saw the kid crash and knew he was in danger of getting ran over so I started running onto the track with her on a leash. Not the first time we ran together and thought we had it down pretty good. Then, in mid-stride, she bolted between my legs and I did a face plant in the mud, in the middle of the track, and took quite a spill. Bikes barely missed me/her and we didnt get hit by them, and luckily, they slowed down for us so the kid that initially fell was out of danger due to my "trip". I was a little bruised but she came out of it unhurt and looking up at me like....... why did you fall there? what happened, lets go play, as I was limping away with her still on the leash and right by my side. LOL. Sadly, she is not with us anymore but we built some wonderful memories between her and my son. How those bikes saw us is a mystery to me still to this day.

  6. Jeff Beck, needless to say is an Icon. I understand what the Op is saying. To me, I see sometimes where the music doesnt flow. Not to say its bad, just sometimes takes it into an area where it seems forced. I guess a great comparison (not of the musicians but rather that "feeling") the first time I saw Stevie R Vaughn shredding a guitar, I remember just starring in awe and it consumed me while watching him. I didnt want to look away. With JB, I get that feeling too but after a few minutes, I find myself not "locked in" anymore. Its still enjoyable for me to watch him though and he is no doubt a great musician.

  7. Nobody buys a Klipsch system to play background music—typically, the company's speakers are the life of the party."

Sure we do, just turn the volume down and you have background music. But aint no fun in that!!! Nice looking subwoofer in the review.

  8. Hey, someone guessed new bike but you lead us to believe it wasnt so!!! LOL. Good one. Nice bike. Are you sure you couldnt zip tie, or duct tape those Palladiums and at least have 2 channel??

  9. I likey. But I'd have to suspend it with wires about 7 ft in the air so I could see the passive do its thang! Wait a minute, a floating subwoofer........ I like that too!

Ok, serious now. Does the passive work by reflecting off the floor? Or would it sound the same with nothing under it? Not that it matters, just curious.

  10. I paid about $600 for the 5 speakers.

Man, I sure hope not. In my opinion, the 5 speakers are worth about the $50.00 others have commented on. The sub may be worth $ 20.00 so maybe ask $ 70.00 and let it all go for $ 50.00 ? Sorry my friend.

  11. One thing my bank told me about FDIC and just taking the words out of their mouth, as I havent searched and have no link, but they told me this about FDIC:

True, your money is insured through the FDIC, BUT, there are no time frames when it will show up and be available to you. A year? Maybe. 2 years? Maybe. But eventually, yes. HHMMM.

Paypal is forcing many of the folks, likely me included, to no longer accept Paypal. I hear too many horror stories where the seller gets screwed  even though the item is exactly as described. Its their word against yours and it appears PP will side with the buyer in order to satisfy their "customers". There are too many unscrupulous people out there.
