  1. Instead of building the false walls, have you given any thought to enclosing the backs, seems to be a much cleaner application, and you can move then anywhere. I have done this with excellent results, you may want to chat with some of the guys that attended the Klipsch Spring Gathering at my house last year (Mark1011, JC, Coyette, Winchester21, Ibslammin) they gave pretty good reviews. Of course I have made other modifications to the Khorns. Cigarbum
  2. I was going to say, your neighbors are going to love you. Where did you finally decide to settle, what part of Jacksonville. I lived in Atlantic Beach for 17 years, loved it, my mother still lives in Jacksonville Beach. Best of luck. CB
  3. First, a few comments, you guys are heads and shoulders above me, I have read most of the posts and they are excellent, but I just lack the basic audio understanding that most of you possess, it all voodoo to me. That being said, I believe what I am trying to do is make a pair of Bose sound half way respectable, these are only for my shop so no real concentrated listening. I would like to take a pair of Bose 901's, two matched intergated amps, Fisher CA-880 a sub woofer or two, bunch of wires/interconnects and make it sound better. Basic question, is it possible? Do I have to purchase additional parts and pieces? I don't want to spent a bunch of money just for my shop, none would be better. CB
  4. Help.... I can't seem to open this link, love to see what it says. CB
  5. djk, I like your idea. A couple of questions, Do I need one or two subs, powered or not, how do you connect? Sorry for being so stupid about some of this stuff. Appreciate all the help I can get. CB
  6. Well, to be truthful, I'm not sure what I am trying to do. I just have a bunch of stuff that I an trying different things for a shop system. Most of the equipment is in good working condition but is nothing I would put in my main systems and I don't care if it burns up or blows up. Maybe trying to make a Frankencritter. If you hear a loud boom, don't think anything of it. Thanks CB
  7. I am still messing around with these Bose 901's and a few other spare parts I have laying around. I have 2 Fisher - Studio Standard, CA-880 intergrated amps and a CD player and want to experiment by bi-amping them. I think I know how to hook them up but not really sure, please correct me if I am wrong. The CD player has 2 RCA plugs in back, Right and left, plug 1 RCA plug into the Right (using a Y connector)and the 2 plug end into the CD or Aux on Amp #1, repeat this with the left side of the CD player, one RCA and plug the 2 ended RCA into the CD or Aux of Amp #2. Then connect the speaker wire right side of, +/- of amp #1 and left side to amp #2. Is this correct, will I get any difference on sound, I know they are Bose speakers, how much can you expect. Appreciate your time. CB
  8. Shame you don't still have the Model 92, worth some bucks if in good shape. Not sure how I can help with the make and model, look on the barrel close to the breech, should have the cal,/make/model. Let me know if I can be any further assistance. CB
  9. Mikey and Gents, your all too kind. It has been a great ride, been very fortunate, you have hit almost all my hobbys. Guns, certified NRA Instructure (pistol, rifle, shot gun), cigars, good sounding audio equipment, used to race my Porsche (too old for that now), some know of my other hobby, won't mention. Comfortable home, killer view and lots of critters. Anyone is welcome anytime. Respectfully CB
  10. Mercy, let me see. Front door, Stevens short barreled pump, living room, Kimber CPD 45, bedroom, Ruger Mini 14, 223, office, double barrel 12 GA Husky, inside shop, Kimber, custom 45, outside shop Thompson classic 22, downstairs bedroom, Khorn room, Winchester, 450 lever action, Gun room a whole bunch of other guns. No matter what you use, practice, practice practice, in the dark a lot of things change, you don't want to be shooting your wife, girlfriend, kids, or dog/cat. Be careful my friend. CB
  11. I want to stay around 2600PSI, just general duty, hosing the Jeep, Infinty, house and shop. Again one of my main hangups is dealing with the big box stores, I know doing business with the small local guys, if anything every goes wrong I can take it back and the will repair or replace, they are just more expensive, but I guess that is the price you pay for the convience. CB
  12. What is the name of wood cutting tool, it's called a saw CB
  13. Do we have any resident experts on these critters? My old Excell (Home Depot Special) just gave up the weinerbisket. The Honda engine is OK but the pump just doesn't produce pressure. I have carried it around to a few repair shops and they say it's just junk and not worth rebuilding. So this leads me to the purchase of a new one, there is only about a killion of these things out there. I really hate going to one of the big box stores because if anything goes wrong they will just tell you that you have to contact the manufacture, There is a couple of small retail stores that carry a real good quality equipment but they want about $900 for a 2700PSI unit, a very good quality unit, cat pump and Honda engine, just more that I really want to spend, but the up side is they will service what they sell. I only use these things about 4 times a year if that and I suspect the pumps go bad from drying out. The only thing I have not done in the past is put anti-freeze in the pump during the winter, don't a lot of real cold days here. Anyone have any good ideas on a good pressure washer Cigarbum
  14. By the way, where is Craig, is he gone fishing again??? Cigarbum
  15. Well, I have tried about everything, I'm about ready to kick this thing down the hill amd see how far a square thing will roll, or maybe target practice for a Winchester 450, that'll teach it. Thanks for all the help guys CB
  16. All I get is the red light when I turn on the power switch. CB
  17. Well, I have put about every wire that I have into about every place I can put on both the reciever and the sub, It don't work. Next step is to be sube the sub is working, how do you determine that, the red light comes on when you power it up. Got any other ideas? Need any more pictures? Thanks Cigarbum
  18. I have an old sub woofer and old reciever that I would like to get working. These are in my downstairs shop and wondering what it would sound like. Can someone tell me where to plug what wires where, I have no manual and can't remember where they ever went. I thing you can see from the pictures what kid of equipment it is. All help will be appreciated. Thanks Cigarbum
  19. Can anyone direct me to where I may find a cross reference for tubes. There seems to be a lot of difference names/models/nomemclature for the same tube and different uses. Is there such a reference guide?? Will be used for audio equipment, amps, pre-amps and such. Cigarbum
  20. Do the tube thingies, that is the little things that go over the tubes to assist in cooling or vibration, not sure. Do these have any value? Do they work? Thanks. Cigarbum
  21. Well, I haven't tried then in my VRD, but have tried then in my MC275. I think the most important thing is to break then in, I know I was a little apprehensive to start about this entire break in thing. They suggest break in for the Shuguang Treasures KT-88, Grade A is 300 hours, well I have got about 400 hours on mine and they do sound real good, better than the Gold Lion, there seems to be a lot better sound stage and imaging, one way I judge then I still am hearing things I have heard before on my go to CD's. I will have to admit that there were times that between 100 and 200 hours that these were terrible and you could hardly stand to listen to then, but as hours progressed they just got better and better. I like them so well I believe I will get another matched quad of the Grade A as backup or for the VRD's Just a note, you can get them a lot cheaper if you go to some suppliers in China. Just my 2 cents guys. Cigarbum
  22. Afew months ago I had the same question. I have several older amps sitting on shelves, I just got my SC 433 back from Craig, so I asked him what his opinion was on how long between when you used it and you want to use it again. About 6 months. Every 6 months plug it in and bring it up to operating temp, unplug, put back on shelf. Every 6 months. Anything longer I would hook it up to the varjig and bring it up to proper voltage. Cigarbum
  23. Boxx, I understand, I believe I have enough to keep me happy for awhile. Cigarbum
