trashyrich1157 replied to trashyrich1157's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
It seems to be working fine, but to be on the safe side, I think I will pick up some new stuff. -

Phono Cartidge with a Technics SL-DD22
trashyrich1157 replied to trashyrich1157's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
That is almost it. Mine has a dial/pot so you can adjust gain on the headphones. And there is no power switch. I have it set to zero, going to my reciever. It sounds fine, but I am sure that new cartdridge will make a huge difference. I actually bought a new stylus last week to put in the Stanton that is in it now, so I will have two to try out. I will definately keep you posted. Oh, BTW, I just passed 100posts, WOOT WOOT!! -

USBPhonoPlus v2 Dang, the pic didnt come thru, sorry guys. This is the one that I have, it has a headphone jack in it. Havent gotten around to swapping out that cartdidge yet, but will let you know how it sounds when I do . I bought a cable at Radio Shack to go from the preamp to my computer, $32, I only paid63 for the preamp. Then I got the parts express mailer the other day and they have a longer cable for $8. DOH!!, so I ordered the Parts Express, and am going to return the RS unit. -
I have just hooked up my turntable(see above). With the ART preamp, well I was digging in some boxes and found a Audio Techinca AT311EP cartridge that I bought years ago , still in the box and unmolested, will this work with the turntable I have? I have tons of questions about this preamp, ie: I have to turn up my reciver alot to hear it vs. having a cd playing-I dont have to turn it up that much. Thanks again for all the advice that will be coming Klipsch rules.

Thanks for getting back to me , but I couldnt wait so I cleaned a side ot Bob Seeger "The Distance", and it sounded fine. I am going to stay with it for the time being, I mean, Hey, I am 43, so the stuff has to be almost 28 yrs old. And I trust old stuff. Thanks for the input, this site rules. -
OK. I finally got the ART preamp, hooked everything up, sounds good, went and found the Discwasher D4 that I bought in high school. There is still fluid in the bottle, Should I use it or buy some new fluid? I dont want to wipe a lp and see it disentigrate before me. Thanks guys.

I have a chance on a CLASSIC REALISTIC ELAC MIRACORD 46 3 SPEED TURNTABLE however I am confused because the front name plate says Realistic, and all other badging markings say Miracord. It is at a fairly good price, and I am just wondering if this would be a step up from the Technics DL/SL 22 that I already own( cant remember the exact model) Thanks.

Transfering LPs To The Computer On The Cheap (take 2)
trashyrich1157 replied to BLSamuel's topic in Technical/Restorations
I am expecting the ART I ordered to be in sometime this week. I plan on giving it a spin this weekend. I will let you know how it goes. You mentioned some type of "steam cleaning " thing to clean records, can you elaborate on this. Thanks. -
Colter has me nervous they might touch one day and short everything out. Wouldn't be a happy day. I'll probably put some form of insulation on mine (electrical tape). I accidently did this last week when I was switching a speaker out. Luckily my Yamaha reciever shut itself off. Took me a minute to realize what had happend, then I freaked out thinking I blew the darn thing up. But I finally got the nerve to hit the power button and everything was fine. I will difinately be turning everything off in the future when disconnecting speakers.

Yep. Same thing here in Denver. So do your part to stimulate the economy, and buy more Klipsch stuff. haha

Oh, well that sounds like a good option. EDIT Went to radio shack and had no luck, so I ordered the ART from B & H for 66 $ shipped. Will let you know how it works out. -
So how many posts do you need before you get your first green box?

Now I am really confused. But I am pretty sure I dont want my computer hooked up to my sound system, I guess I am just old school that way. I will prolly go to Radio Shack over the weekend and see what they have available. there is also a vintage sound place here in denver that might have something. I will let you know what I deide. And again , thanks for the input and advice . since discovering this site it has helped me to make informed decisions/ purchases on the gear I have now. So , thanks guys. -

It is a Stanton, I cant see any numbers or anything on it. On the top of it is has the Fancy"S" if that helps. I e mailed Stanton to see if they could give me any info on what I have. I saw a pre amp on the RS website for $30, I might just go get that and try it. What would be the limitations if it is a moving coil vs ????? -

Thanks for the advice, if figured I was gonna need something like that. Looking on e bay, they start at $7, and go to 1k. I know the turntable isnt that great, but do you have a suggestion as to what would be a good fit? I just want to listen to the albums I have had sitting around all these years. -
Once again I turn to the wise ninjas of the Klipsch Forums. I have a Yamaha HTR 5730 A/V reviever and I would like to hook up an old turntable that has been laying around. It is a technics SL DD 22, it has the two RCA jacks coming out of it and a single wire. I am not sure if my reciever will accept this or where to plug it into, and what is up with the single wire, an antenna, just kidding, I know that isnt what it is. Any help will be greatly appreciated, as always.

I need headphones for night listening, suggestions?
trashyrich1157 replied to trashyrich1157's topic in Headphones
I was hoping to not go over $100, I know that will limit me on performance, but I dont see a reason to blow alot when I will be using them so little. I might just try the earbuds my mp3 came with and some adapters and cord. Dont kill me for considering this option. How much do those run. They look great. -
I have pissed the GF off one too many times watching movies after she has gone to bed. I need to get some headphones. Any suggestions? Are the wireless ones worth it/do they work? I really dont want to spend mega bucks here as I will be using them so little, and I do the majority of my music listening thru my main system. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Hey, where do you get the interconnects that look like batteries, those are cool.
-
I havent used the grippers, but my local Ace usually has a bunch of different options, either peel and stick or screw mounting ones. Try a hardware store. Good luck.
