  1. Thanks. They are great looking, substantial and great sounding. Hope someone takes advantage of them.
  2. I bought these over the winter from a fellow audiophile in the Chicago area. And they have been nothing short of terrific! The original ad for the speakers and stands is here: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=138181.msg1471181#msg1471181 A review of the A8's and Skylan stands is here: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/redwine3/system.html The Skylan stands are sand filled, and are the recommended height (same stands as in the review). These Omegas have pinpoint imaging and the unreal midrange you'd expect from a crossover-less single driver speaker. For jazz, vocals, folk and most rock they are hard to beat. I have even played Floyd and Zeppelin with great success, but that's admittedly not their strength. But man, you can't beat them for Miles or Phil Woods playing in a club! These have the hempcone drivers. All units are in great shape. Unfortunately, I scratched up the tops on both Omegas when I was building and testing the tweeter units. I'm such an IDIOT. I'm mad about it still. I tried to rub the scratches out with 0000 steel wool, but wasn't successful with the catalyzed finish they have. So the tops are flawed. I use a felt cover between the tweeter and the speaker so I don't see it. The rest of the surfaces on both speakers are flawless. Performance-wise, these are without issue. I've been running these with a Red Wine Audio Signature 30.2 LFP-V amp with great success. I've also used a 1.5W SET and a Fisher 400 with good results. They are about 95dB efficient. I am asking $700 for the speakers and stands, which should stay together. Or, I'd trade for a really nice set of Klipsch Cornwalls. I live in SE WI. Contact me for shipping charges.
  3. Wow. Being an analog guy I have no clue what any of this means : ) That said, bump for a quick sale!
  4. I don't want to hijack this thread, but CECAA850, can you PM me and tell me if you re-capped yours yourself and what it involved. I have one as well, and it's definitely worth a re-cap. GLWS.
  5. I have an upgraded version of this Khozmo passive pre, and it is a great performer. I highly recommend it if you're looking to go the passive route.

    for sale

    Love me some Clips...
  7. Man, this is tempting, and I'm even local. But it would require the sale of my RWA 30.2 Signature LFP-V integrated and my Carver. Sadly, I'd probably never sell them before this one was gone. GLWS.
  8. The one with the 5-way binding posts. Sold one a couple years ago and regretting the decision now that I picked up another set of speakers. Let me know if you gave one you're not using. Thanks. Tom
  9. Poop Oh well ... I'm still mulling those slant Heresys over, so it may work out in the end.
  10. Junior does have some great gear, I picked up the Fortes Saturday. Nice guy and he has a ton of top quality gear. His prices aren't outrageous, 500 for a very nice pair of Forte 2s I thought was more than fair Did you buy the Fortes or the Forte IIs? They're still both listed, and I was considering picking up the IIs.
  11. Huh ... I never even considered that they were monitors in that sense. They look like baby Khorns, and that's exactly where my mind went.
  12. Mark (or anyone else), A couple questions (my brain is working away ...). And by the way, I live in Lake Geneva, so I'm "local". I've been looking for a pair of Heresy's to run with my subs, as my "rock and roll" speakers. My main speakers are Omega A8's (single-driver ... image like crazy). I sold my Forte II's 6 months ago due to a lack of real estate in my listening room, and I miss having a pair of Klipsch to crank out the Zep and Floyd to. Anyway, I assume these are meant to be tight to the corner, like a Khorn? The corners of the front wall of my listening room are taken up by superchunk bass traps which run floor to celing, but I'm thinking I could mount these at ear level, with the bass traps above and below them. A pic of the front wall of my room is attached so you can see what I'm talking about. Any comments on how this would work? What are the dimensions of the cabinets? I'd like to see how they's protrude from the corners in comparison to the bass traps. Thanks, Tom
  13. I'm in the area too (Lake Geneva), so I always see his posts too. If you sort by relevance it'll throw the tagged results to the bottom of the list.
  14. No love for a nice tubed phono preamp and an excellent vintage AR table? They make beautiful music together!
  15. Still available. Buyer flaked out at the last minute!
  16. Actually, US Audio Mart. I've had really good luck selling on there in the past as well. The Bottlehead phono pre is still available though!
  17. Selling my AR XB table, along with my Bottlehead Reduction phono preamp (separate ad) which make up my second TT system. I just don't use it enough to justify it. This is the 3rd AR I've owned, and I love them. This one is my favorite since it has the tonearm lift. This table is EXTREMELY clean and unmolested. In fact, I am the first person to ever remove the bottom plate. The spring assemblies still have perfectly pliable foam! I cleaned out the bearing wells, and they appear to be in great shape with very little wear. I polished the platter and tonearm spindles with 1000, 3000 and 5000 grit foam, and the platter spins for days. The metal top plate is in great shape with one scuff mark that makes it not flawless. The outer platter edge has been polished and looks great, with no marks. The headshell threads are in good shape, as are the cartridge leads. The tonearm wires and RCA cables are original and in good shape, as is the original power cord. Lastly, the cover has been polished and is very presentable. There are a couple scratches, but no cracks. It has the original AR logo emblem as well. The Shure M97x cartridge has plenty of life left and the cantilever is straight. No issues at all. Lastly, it will come with the felt platter mat shown. All in all, this is probably one of the nicer, unmolested XBs around. I have tons of pictures if you want to see anything in particular. Looking to get $400 + shipping. I have successfully shipped 2 AR's prior to this, so I know how to package them to survive! I have more pics if interested, just let me know! I'm also selling my Bottlehead Reduction phono preamp in a separate posting.
  18. Well built tubed phono preamp for MM cartridges. 36dB gain standard, increased to 40dB with the Integration upgrade. The upgrade also adds increased dynamics, more quiet background, better bass control, more gain and a sense of better frequency extension, per Bottlehead. This design uses 6DJ8/6922 tubes, which make it a really quiet preamp. I use it with my 95dB Omegas, and it is quiet. The stock tubes are included, as well as the tube shields (which aren't shown). The base is natural bamboo, made by Blumenstein Audio. It is an excellent looking base, and really sets it apart from the stock base that ships standard. The top plate is finished in a copper color. I'm looking for $500 + shipping. The preamp kit, Integration kit and Blumenstein base total $700. This one is well-built for way less than that! If you're looking for a great sounding, quiet tube phono preamp, this is the one. I'm selling my second turntable set-up, which also includes my minty AR XB, as I don't use it enough to justify it. No issues at all. I'm also selling my AR XB table ... see separate listing.

  20. I'd buy it if I didn't already have one! It would have to replace my AR XB, and I think 2 of them sitting next to each other would look kinda weird!
