  1. It's a pretty open living room. Very high ceilings that opens to a loft. It also opens up to dining room and main enterance. Not sure on exact measurements but I can get those if needed. My musical taste ranges a lot. I listen to a lot of classic rock, classical music, raggea, big band, country, etc. You name it and I probably have it. Sound seems to travel extremely well throught the house. I currently have a small all in one record payer that I was using and I could hear that little thing all around. I do want the new speakers to really fill the room though. I love that deep, full sound with a lot of clarity.
  2. I just picked up a 70's Pioneer turntable and receiver. I am looking for some good Klipsch speakers to accompany them. What would be good for a two channel setup. I have been looking at KG4's, kg3.5. Heresy's, etc. What are the pros and cons? Which one doesn't need as much power to sound great. Not really sure on the budget. I guess I'd rather take my time and get something good vs getting something ill want to upgrade later. Thanks!
  3. So I finally ordered three aura bass shakers and the dayton 150 sub. Holy cow! These things are amazing. I have been having a blast going back into my movie collection and watching different scenes. It brings a whole new element to viewing. I had a little bit of trouble installing these at first. My seats didn't have anything solid that I could attach them too. I saw someone post on a different forum that they simply zip tied them to the springs on the bottom of their seats. I tried that at first and I was completely underwhelmed. The feeling was so centralized and you could easily tell where the vibrations were coming from. I wasn't happy with it at all, so I went out and bought some wood and made my own platforms. I drilled holes in the frames of the seats and attached them using bolts underneath. The experience was better this time because the feeling was spread out over the whole chair, but I was disappointed with strength. I had to really crank up the settings to get a decent shake out of them. I figured out this was because the new platform I made was basically touching the carpet. It was causing the bass shaker to fire down to the floor and it would absorb the movement. As a simple fix, I simply cut some rubber pads and put them under the legs of the chairs to raise them just enough off the floor. Now they shake the entire chair with ease. I even had to turn the settings back down a bit. The experience can't really be described, but it really is a fantastic and highly recommended addition. My wife and I couldn't stop smiling and even laughing as we watched scene after scene to test them out. These things are really going to add a whole new dimension.
  4. We recently added a fun little addition to our theater room. We picked up a "concession stand" from craigslist. We are using it to display some candy boxes as well as hold our coca cola cooler. It is also housing a prop piece from the movie "Independence Day". The prop piece can be seen in the lower left side of the display. The case was formerly a display case for a sprint store. When we picked it up from the previous owner, it was in good shape, but really dirty. Nothing a little elbow grease couldn't fix. I think it turned out great and looks pretty neat in the room. I am planning on adding some lights to the inside. If you want to check out what the rest of my room looks like, it's back on page 182 of this thread. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/42024/1366684.aspx#1366684
  5. I second coaster seats. I have two rows of three coaster pavillion seats. They are very comfortable and affordable. My favorite feature of the pavillion set is the adjustable head rest. When you lay back on it, you can move the headrest up to prop your head up. It's a small, but very nice feature. It really makes watching movies that much more comfortable. http://htauthority.com/index_files/PavillionCollectionDetail.htm
  6. I went with the panny after talking a lot with Youth about it. I absolutely love it. I overshoot the grey bars right onto a light colored wall. Yea, you can see them if you look, but in all honesty they disappear, to my eyes, when I watch a movie. They shouldn't bother you at all.
  7. Silly question, but what kind of Y splitter do I need to connect to the Dayton amp? Where is a good place to buy them from? Thanks again.
  8. You can wire the three shakers in series and show the amplifier a 12 ohm load. Ok, thank you. I wasn't sure if 12 ohm would have been too much. All the diagrams I was looking at showed how to wire 4 down to a 8 ohm load. So I was thinking that I probably shouldn't wire 3 at 12 ohm. Can't wait to order these and set them up!
  9. I have a question about these too. I wonder if anyone can help. I am looking at getting three aura pro shakers. One for each seat in my front row. I want to use the Dayton apa 150 sub to run them. What I am having trouble understanding is how to wire up three shakers. Everything I find shows either 2 or 4. Is there anyway to hookup just 3 or do I need to get 4 and have one seat have 2 shakers mounted (which seems like overkill on one seat). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hey Youth! It's been a while. I do notice a very slight echo. It was a lot more before the seats and posters went in. I have been thinking about adding some panels. Let me know what you think of them after you get them.
  11. closer shot of the bar area.
  12. looking to the side and towards the bar area...
  13. Well, long time no see Klipsch forum! It has been a long, rewarding couple of months for me. We sold our house and purchased a new one. The people that bought the old house liked the theater room setup I had before so much, that they bought it! I left behind my couch, projector, screen, and popcorn machine. Fear not! This simply laid way for me to upgrade the new house. And that is just what I have been up to. Our new home has a basement which I was allowed to take over for my new dedicated theater room (thanks hun!). Here are a couple of shots with my new toys, and of course my favorite speakers...
  14. I agree. It's especially irritating trying to watch a movie that switches ratios on a scope screen. Hopefully The Dark Knight will be the only one to ever do that.
  15. actually, what copy of Transformers 2 did you get? There is the standard version and then the special "big screen" version. This one includes an extra couple scenes that were only shown in IMAX ( these scenes were also filmed with IMAX cameras and the ratio changes ). Anyway, I heard on another forum that people are saying they are having problems with the sound on that version. I bought the regular addition and I did not notice any distortion or problems at all. It sounded great!
  16. I just wanted to say that I tested out some music finally and I think I found out where the rumors about the sub are coming from. At first, the sub did not even turn on. The fronts were handling all the bass. I went back in and changed my settings to the front two to small and also raised up the crossover a little more. This caused the sub to kick in, but not very much. So I went back into the settings and increased the db to the sub just a little and this really helped. After a little more tweaking, I got the sub to sound good for both music and movies. So, it does take a little more messing around with then I first thought. But you can tweak it however you want to get it to sound good.
  17. I should say though that all of my listening has been with movies. I have not really listened to the sub with music yet. I tested out the ipod connection earlier just to make sure it worked. That was well before I ever calibrated so I didn't pay much attention to how it sounded.
  18. Yea, I had read a few different complaints about that with this receiver and was a little worried. To me it sounds great. In fact, I might have to go back and turn the sub down a little bit. It seems to be just a little too much. I ran the auto calibration and then increased my crossover setting just a little higher than it set them. I am not sure if that helped or not, but it all sounds great to me right now! One thing that I found surprising was that it set all my speakers to small except my front two mains. It set those to large. I tried them that way and thought it sounded perfect. When I set them to small, it seemed to take something away. So I have them set back to large and am really happy with it. If you do get it, I would suggest you use the auto calibration and then just tweak it a little bit to see what sounds best to you. You can save multiple calibrations if you want to go back to something that sounded really good.
  19. I actually just bought the Pio 1019 and love it with my setup! If you really want to bi-amp, you can bi-amp the front two mains with this receiver so long as you don't want to setup 6.1 or 7.1. You would use those connections to run back to the front two mains. Obviously if you want 7.1, then this would not be an option. However, for everything else this receiver offers at such a great price, you can't go wrong. The sound is fantastic. I am very pleased with it!
  20. I just bought the Pio 1019 and I have to say I really love this receiver! Like you said, the GUI, IPod connection, 7.1, and multi room functions are all great! It sounds awesome and it was for such a great price at Best Buy. I think you would really enjoy it. So far, I am!
  21. Well, you had to come along and throw and wrench in there didn't you? Here I was pretty set looking into Onkyo, and then you throw out the VSX-1019AH-K. The Pioneer seems to have a lot more bells and whistles than the Onkyo 706 for a better price too. I have not heard much about Pioneer receivers though. Can anyone one else weigh in with some feedback on what they have heard about or experienced with Pioneer. All the reviews I read on the VSX-1019AH-K seem great. In fact I am finding far fewer things that people are having problems with compared to the Onkyo. I am seeing a lot of people saying that their Onkyo receiver was either dead on arrival or died months after. The biggest worry I am having about the Pioneer is how small that thing is. I wonder if its really capable of producing great sound all the time or will strain if its cranked up a little bit?
  22. Anyone here have any experience with an onkyo tx-sr 706? I am leaning towards this one right now. Newegg.com has it for $529.
  23. Thanks. I will check that out too. I also want to say thanks to you for posting about the C-3 on vanns a little while back. I already had a C-2 with my F-3 mains, but I have been debating about the C-3 for a while. When I saw your post I figured I would just go for it. I have not seen one in stock for a while and that was a great price too! I am actually very happy with it. It was more of an improvement than I thought it would be. I am not sure if it is just me, but I am hearing much more clarity with the C-3 vs the C-2. It seems like it is doing a little less to keep up with the mains. I actually had to turn down the center a bit, because it felt like it was a little too loud now! So thanks for pointing it out!
  24. Thanks everyone. Sorry it took me a while to respond. The system is basically for movies and very little music. So far I think I am leaning towards Onkyo. I am wondering if I should expect a big difference between the sounds that each brand of receiver will deliver? Some are saying to continue with Yamaha because it is what I know. Is that more because of the setup or because I will get a different sound from a different brand. I am leaning towards Onkyo because they seem to offer more features for the same price. Anyway, thanks again for the input. I will just now be on the lookout for a great deal!
