  8. well, They're ''only'' 93 db efficient but: They do go lower than Khorn, have better and clearer mid and highs which are much closer to ear level. Woofer is a little to close to the floor so it's recommended to raise them about 4'' off the floor. They're simply great.

He had a friend who brought over a VTL Ultimate preamp to compare with the BB and he left Sheltie Dave's house muttering because the BB had bested his ultimate by a head. Of course, these things are subjective. I'd suggest that you get used to being around people who think that Juicy Music preamps are the cat's a$$. Among the benefits of free speech on the forum, you are always entitled to offer the minority report. ---------------- DD, Like you've already said, these things are subjective. I won't state my opinion about Sheltie Dave's hearing ability but I did find him to be one hell of an abnoxious individual. I guess I'll join Wayn and be part of that minority.

  12. Don't clean more than 10-15 records each time. The motor gets real hot and wears the gears so it needs to cool down. I managed to kill one motor be cleaning 80 lp's straight - Learn from my mistake. Don't worry about the fluid it just evaporates. "What do you use to clean the cork mat? Can you run the vacuum tube over it, or should I just wipe it down? Or maybe just pick up a second mat for the dirty sides, although that kind of sounds like a pain." I think that wiping it down would work.

  14. I had a pair of JS transformers and they were quite nice but not great. Though I didn't use them with an SPU. Who rebuilds your cartridge? New mono SPU's are very good and not too expensive.

  16. 2 possible solutions: 1. rotate the balance controls (feedback) fully counter clockwise. 2. wire the amp to triode operation - you'll get less power and less gain. It might sound sweeter too.
  17. Using a mono cartridge is recommended too.....

  20. These were made between 1977-1981 and were considered as the ultimate MK3's. The asking price isn't cheap but seems fair.
