The 81's are a pain to mount on the wall. You have to use L brackets or the speaker mounts that clamp down, holding speaker in place. Neither of which looks very good. If the 61's have the mounting hardware on the back of the speaker, I'd go with those. The 81's are great speakers, but getting them on the wall is difficult.

I looked for speaker stands that would hold the 650's before I went with pedestals, just couldn't find anything that would work. Some of the center channel speakers stands have a large enough top plate, but none are very tall. I'm using these for the 525's, http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=346&filter=hanger. Much cheaper than the omnimounts and they mount flush so it's a much cleaner look too. If you use pedestals, you could just use a flat bracket bolted to the speaker mounting holes, then screwed into back of pedestal. That's was what I was planning on doing, but with the weight of the speaker really no need. Your daughter would have a very difficult time knocking the pedestal/speaker over, much more solid than I had expected.

I'm using some 12" square oak pedestals and it works better than I thought. The speakers are heavy enough that there is no need to screw or bolt them to the pedestals, they just sit on top, no worry about them wobbling or falling over.

I was using a dual 12 svs when I first got the 650's and 525's. The svs was just not sounding right, there seemed to be a gap in midbass. I tried adding a rt-10d, and it helped, but still didn't fix problem. Was thinking maybe problem was with 650's not getting enough power. Went ahead and got the kw-120's and ka-1000's and didn't have midbass gap anymore. The 120's just blend so well with the 650's. The 120's really are impressive subs. They will get low, similar to the svs I was using, but they are just cleaner and smoother sounding. Having used the svs which "digs deep" and the kw-120's which are more refined, I prefer the sound of quality bass over svs quanity. Just something to think about when your shopping for subs, lower doesn't mean better sounding.

The 650's do need good subs. You'll be suprised, your receiver won't sound as underpowered once you get some. The subs made a huge difference for me.

When you say using the XTi for front 3 would be a workaround, could you elaborate? If you where going to setup 3 2-way jubilees or similar across the front with xti's, how would you do that? What would the physical connections look like and how would the amps dsp work? Do you split the signal coming off back of pre-amp, having it go to 2 xti's. Then let xti dsp filter correct frequecies, having one amp handle the LF and the other the MF/HF? Thanks for any info.

I thought with a 3-way speaker, you could just use 2 amp channels per speaker, one for low and one for mid-high? Thought you could get 3-ways configured for bi-amp. You would prefer 2-way jubilee over a 3-way kpt-335? I thought that 3-way would be a better sounding speaker. Haven't put too much thought into speakers yet, will be 2+ years before I move. Want to get 3 matching speakers for the front. Probably just use the kl/ks 525's for surrounds and the 4 kw-120's, will eventually upgrade the subs. Can the XTi's dsp do 3 channel stereo? Would the XTi1000 be enough to power the LF on either jubilee or 335? What's the asking price on the jubilee's, do they require corners?

When is budget not an issue. I was just going to go with the XTi’s because that was recommended to power jbl 3731. Was told I should get the 1000’s and either 2000’s or 4000’s to bi-amp front. Not sure which 3-way speaker I will eventually get, hopefully some kpt’s. Just figured that if the XTi’s would be good for jbl 3-way, they should be fine with any comparable 3-way. I thought the XTi where considered good amps, not cheap alternatives. I do believe that you need the DSP for cinema speakers, not completely sure how all that works yet. The I-Tech is much more than I had planned on spending for amps, would probably be looking at stuff other than crown at that price. You do need DSP to bi-amp a 3-way speaker, right? If not, I’ll definitely look at the CT series. Thanks for the info. Separates are new for me, and really don’t completely understand how you setup and power 3-way commercial. Then trying to get amps that will work with both what I have now, kl-650 and then some cinema 3-way. Glad you chimed in when you did. Was planning on buying the XTi's today, last day for rebate. Open to suggestions. What would you use to power kpt335, if different from previous recommendations? The kpt speakers would be a step-up in sound quality and fullness over the kl-650? Why should I expect to have to deal with hiss on the larger speakers, how do you resolve it? Thanks

Thanks for info. My main concern was, can the KL-650 handle 475 watt amp? Didn’t realize how simple it was. To avoid damage to speaker, just control volume. Would using XTi2000 for fronts (650’s) and XTi1000 for rears (525’s) cause any problems, balance issues? Ideally, I would like to get 2 XTi1000 and 2 XTi2000, but only if it’s not going to cause any problems. Anyone using different rated amps on same system? Any potential issues doing this? Thanks

Not sure exactly what problem you are having, but I have two RT-10D's. If you thought they came with software cd's, they don't, just a microphone for set-up.

I’m going to get some Crown XTi amps to power KL-650 and KL/KS-525, but not sure which model to go with, 1000 or 2000. Is the XTi2000 too much power for these speakers? Would bridged XTi1000 be too much? How do you determine the proper amplification for rated 150 continuous 600 peak? Want to get as much amp as possible so I have more flexibility down the road, but don’t want to damage the Ultras in the meantime. Thanks for any info.

you can really get some great deals from 6ave. bought a pair of rs-52's for $350 on one of their previous "name your own price" promotions. got a rc-64 for $529 this time round. bought a lcd from them about a year ago with a big discount, so it’s not just speakers they sell way below msrp. never had any problems with purchases, good online retailer.

those are some nice looking la scala’s. never really liked the wood finishes on the heritage, but black la scala’s just look mean. looks good.

haven’t heard of these being recommended or used much for multi channel in residential, other than powering subs. looking at amps and just wondering if these should be considered. thought i’d ask over here in 2-channel since they seem to be more widely used. any reasons why these amps won’t work well for home theater use? thanks

Thanks, basically using all the speakers I already had, just have a single RB-81 and a pair of KS-525's boxed up. Bedroom has RB-81's, RC-62, RS-52's and RT-10D with Elite SC-05. Was using all 81's, but figured I could put them to better use else where. I will say the 81 makes for a great center channel speaker, prefer it over the 62. Yeah, that's a SVS tube in corner. Doesn't sound great on top of desk, but better than it did under it. Still moving it around and trying different locations but don't have many options. The SVS PB12-plus2 is pulling gym duty. Never really could get it sounding right after I got the 650's in HT. Very happy with the KW-120's, for me, they a far superior to the SVS. The 120's still can get really deep, similiar to the SVS, but they blend so much better. It could be that I just wasn't able to get the SVS tuned correctly, but really impressed with the KW-120's. That's my 6 yr old bulldog, thanks for compliments. great system man....congrats..ithe klipsch ultra 2 qith two subs...after looking at ur 4 subs am planning on getting another two..but my room is a dedicated theater room 14 feet wide by 22 fet long...will 4 thx subs be over kill?? Thanks. I would only consider it overkill if additional costs are issue. I had two kw-120's for a few weeks before other two arrived. With four, I had noticeable gain, nothing huge. If you can afford to get four, why not? Know I've spent more money on dumber things before.
