very nice work jb, i am building myself another rack and got some questions. 1) what are those caps on the top? where did you get them? 2) did you paint the rods/washers/nuts prior to assembling? what paint did you use?
-
thanks guys, i am building cabs for the heresy clone so this help.
-
great work! quick question, is the Heresy cab completely sealed? or is the back panel removable like the cornwall?

+1, there's nothing that can top plasma for the price. i've said before, but my panasonic 720p plasma produced pictures that rivaled those LCDs that cost 2-3x more. all for $600. after a bit of calibration of course. if you want BIG, looked into the Mitsubishi DLP projections. they got great user reviews, and for the price they are a bargain. and if you want bigger, look at projector. for roughly $1200, you can get a 120"+ worth of video real estate. i would never buy LED or LCDs, and don't care much for 3D. IMO, they are overrated due to WAF and convenience factors.

hmm....is that a trick question? they're the reference series' top dogs (until the 7II makes the return). i guess that should tell you something.
-
man, these RF63/83/7II make me want to get myself some reference speakers. what's the cheapest for a pair of new RF63s?
-
+1 on the integra/onkyo picked up a 9.9 with the UPA-7 few months ago, and they are GREAT! for the price, these onkyo/integra units can't be beat
-
no, but i heard those are quality stuff. even better than mr. crites.

i am either the biggest idiot, or this layout is completely wrong. how on earth do you put these pieces together to come up with this internal dimension. Height 19 7/8 in. Depth 12 in Width 14 in. http://www.critesspeakers.com/cs1cab.jpg

which web site?

ahh, sorry to hear. glad to see you back up and running.

what's wrong? did jeff got blacklisted?
-
thanks jhoak, i have CS-1 projects in the work but darn these Cornsalas look really sweet. did you build your own crossovers? was it easy/cheap?
-
jhoak, do you have the internal dimension/volume of the cornscala? i like to look at this with a slimmer/taller cabinet. and the 2-way cornscala looks really interesting.
-
for my CS-1 build, whenever that happens. this is how i will finish them 1) a coat or two of shellac, sanding 2) then 2-3 coats of watco walnut oil with sanding
-
very nice work jeff. i love the cornscala build. wish i had the space and budget for them. is there a big difference if the woofer was flush mounted?
-
i've owned reference series. once i got heritage (cornwalls), i sold off all my reference stuff. now that i am building CS-1, i am letting go of my cornwalls. not that the CS-1 are better, it's just the cornwall had too much of a foot print in my small media room. and from what i've heard, the CS-1/CS1.5 should be good replacements for the cornwalls when pair with a pair of capable subs. if you're using Crites crossover, you need the 16ohm selenium drivers. i would definitely opt for the Cornscala if your room/budget can accomodate them. if not the CS series should be very good builds.

Did you replace your Cornwall tweeters?
smokarz replied to smokarz's topic in Technical/Restorations
Actually, I think that Bruce's configuration is one that you should take a good look at, i.e., being able to time-align the tweeter to the Cornwall midrange. I believe that you will more than double your gain using that approach, especially in soundstage. Chris thanks, but i am not exactly what this meant. -

many thanks, looks like i will have to save up for a pair of Crites CT125s. anyone know if Mr Crites's updated crosovvers are crossed at 4500hz? -

thanks, i heard the CT125 is the same as the APT150. can i use the APT150? it's a whole lot cheaper. -
ok, so i did the stupid thing and installed REW and took measurements on my cornwalls. what it showed me is that the speakers rolled off around 12khz-13khz. from some reading, these K-77 drivers are limited, and Bob's CT125 suppoed to go up to 20khz. so, what were your impressions after installing the CT125? what's the difference? i mean, do you actually hear things beyond 10khz?
-
+1 i had to send back my UPA-7 last month for the exact same thing. guess i am not the only clumsy guy around. hehe
-
nice. are those OC 703? i got 12 in my 1900cf room. just bought another case of 12 pieces. need to work on those for the ceiling and corner bass trap.

what's the best price you paid for a pair of heresy i?
smokarz replied to smokarz's topic in Home Theater
thanks guys, looks like prices are all over the charts. i guess if it's between $250-$300, then it's a decent price. -
i've seent these sold for around $300 for a nice pair. is this the right price? what's the lowest you've paid?
