  1. Q, That amp kicks ***...what HT pre do you use??
  2. Q-Man, What kind of amp did you get? Wasn't it the 200wpc 6 channel amp? I have previously had really good service at Mac. I love their stuff, but this has me pissed off...
  3. Well...just got back from the dealer...We tested all the tubes...all tested good...no shorts....Dealer calls McIntosh to get a new one shipped ASAP...which turns out to be in one month....BS...I ordered and paid for this thing 6 weeks ago...now I have to wait another month???...Seems to me given the circumstances that Mac could come up with a more expeditious solution...I have been a customer of this company since the 60's and am frankly disappointed with their lack of "customer service"....After I ordered it I called McIntosh and spoke with both Ron Cornelius and someone in technical services reg what kind of tubes were they using in this pre-amp....got 2 different answers....one (Ron) said the 12AX7's were Svetlana and the 12AT7's were NOS military...the tech person said they were all Svetlana's....WELL...ALL are marked "made in China"...glad to see that the Mac folks are so well informed about their products...jeesh...$4500 for a preamp and they couldn't spring for some decent tubes???? I'm not expecting Telefunkin here, but there are several small tubes that are being manufactured the are better than Chinese tubes...(Ei's, Svetlana's, JJ's, EH, Jan Phillips) that are not appreciably more $$$.... Sorry for the rant, but Mac is on my s list now...
  4. Yes...got a MC275 (reissue) for the corners and I already had the MC75 for the center Belle...so yes..all tubes, all the time...(except now)....lol
  5. Yes.....I am....lucky that I haven't put my C-15 and MC2105 up on e-bay yet...hopefully McIntosh will handle this quickly....
  6. Here's a pic....will look better when running...lol
  7. No...the C2200 is a new design...not a C-22 circuit...the C-22 re-issue that came out a few years back was essentially the same as the original C-22 except for the balanced in's and out's....retail price...$4500...
  8. Good link Lynnm.....that's the one they had at the CES...Mine is identical except without the gold trim....The gold trim model is for the folks that bought a MC2000 (130wpc tube) when they came out...try this link from the Mac site..... http://www.getplugged.com/data/bin/c2200om01.pdf It's the manual for the C2200....
  9. Well....Got her all hooked up a couple of days ago...fired her up and listened to some of my favorite CD's that I'm most familiar with for about an hour...then..."pop".....dead.....bummer dude....Hopefully it is a tube...going to take it into the dealer today to check it out....AC seems to be ok...all the displays and switches still work, but sounds like crap with no gain whatsoever....Mac says the are using Svetlana 12AX7's and NOS military 12AT7 tubes???....But for one glorious hour...This preamp is the finest preamp I have ever had the pleasure of hearing....incredible...will be curious to see the "expert" reviews when they come out.....Will post a full review when I get her back up... 10. JMON....I transferrred pic to another later post...
  11. Ok fine...You guys are correct about the ac cords...Let this be a lesson to you kids..."Don't do drugs!!!!".... Al....Have you gotten any input from any of your ALK customers that have bi-wired them?....It took me a few hours to run the wire and hook them up, so a direct comparison was difficult, but even with these old Led Zeppelin fried ears, I could tell a difference....More "open" is how I would describe it....By "open", I mean sonically, not just my wallet for the double runs...Used Audioquest Slate for both runs....
  12. Do you have a network?....I have an AB that I have from my ALK switchover...
  13. Sorry it took so long to post this pic. Was reading an old post and saw that you had asked for me to post a pic of how I braced the Belle for my TV. Seems to be working, but as I said, I'm not sure the speaker would have held it without the 2x4's. Again, sorry for the delay....spaced it...
  14. yeaaaaaaaa.....finally got my new Mac C2200 preamp after waiting for over a month on order....I'll post a review in a few days after I run it for awhile....sure looks georgous though....McIntosh styling for sure....anyone know anyone interested in my SS Mac stuff (MC2105 and C-15), e-mail me....they are of course very pampered....
  15. I bi-wired my K-horns and Belle at the same time adding new cable. Noticable difference, but not sure which to attribute it to. Have to switch to a single for awhile and see if I notice the change
  16. Pete, The concept for stereo with a mono L-R center channel was developed by Bell Labs way back. The ideal wall length was determined to be 17' as I recall, with a center speaker with flanking corner toe-in speakers. I have the literature around here somewhere from Bell. I will post when I dig it up. I believe Paul Klipsch used a Cornwall in his set up, but it sure looks like a Heresy in the attached pic doesn't it? Anyway I would think a Heresy would work fine except for ear bleeding volume levels. Keep in mind that the center should run 6db below the corners. Ideally a Belle would be best, but you already have the Heresy.... A pic of my set up is in the odd and mods thread. My wall is 20', and I notice a huge difference without the center. Fills the hole in the middle. Try it....You'll like it....
  17. Colin, Aren't you supposed to start with foreplay?
  18. How about...KLIPSCH (when will the heritage line be back?)
